FZ-109F Flame Thrower?

The compendium states that the chest mounted weapons of the FZ-109F in battroid mode consist of a Large Bore Blaster, and a Tri-barrel rapid fire laser gun. However.. In the opening to Macross 7 we clearly see a FZ-109F shooting flame out of its Large Bore Blaster barrel, then it pivots its waiste, and opens up with the Tri-Barrel. And I know, without sound it might seem like that stylized muzzle flash from SDF Macross might be flame, but come on, this is clearly some sort of flame. Definitely doesnt look like a typical beam weapon or anything.

Its probably just an animation mistake or something, but it'd be pretty sweet if the FZ-109F did have a flame thrower ^__^

A flame thrower in space?? Now thats just as bad as sonic disruptors in space.

Some kind of phosphorus or napalm like substance would easily make a flamethrower in space.

Besides, the scene in question is not in space, so what's your point?

Actually the flamethrower was fired on the ground, not in space, so why not have some AP weaponry.

You're quite right that it's an animation mistake cuz they use the thing in the series.....But dream all you want :) .
