I can now give my own answer :

The new V2 1/60 Roy VF-1S stand alone version.

It has everything I loved about the 1/48 Hikaru 1J that I had and nothing that I didn't like. (Lack of tampo markings, low hanging arms in fighter mode, needing a lot of display space, seam down the middle of the battroid's face, thruster detail that splits in two in battroid mode, etc...)

It has a better balance appearance-wise in all three modes as well and locks up even tighter in all three modes than the 1/48 as well.

VF-1S Hikaru DYRL with red fastpacks like this MP Jetfire

This was an easy custom that used VF-1S Hikaru and Miria FP. I only had to throw 3 stickers on and add a little krylon spray paint on the FP tips and arm armor. I found a shade of krylon that was a perfect match for Miria's FP. This was my first Yamato fig I got 2 months ago to customize into Jetfire and the damn things are addicting so now I have 7 of the 1/48's.

...that is until they come out with 1/60 v2 stealth packs, then it will be 1/60 v2 Hikaru VF-1S with Stealth fastpacks...

1/48 VF-1J Milia red with red fastpacks. That is my top choice and I do own it.

nobody is asking but my second choice would probably be 1/60 VF-0A Shin with booster. I also have that.

Third would be Nora's SV-51.

However when the new 1/60 V.2 VF-1D comes out I may have to rearange things here.

I voted long ago...but I want to change my answer to a Yamato v.2 1/60 VF-1 (not sure which one for sure). I have the Roy and it is the SHIZNIT!

Well I will have to go by the one I just ordered

1/60 Version 2 VF-1S w/FP Roy's bird, almost went for the 1/48 Milia VF1J w/Fp but my better half took one look at our display case and said "bigger isn't always better"
