The the Brain Control interface system was thrown out in favor of more conventional pilot controls. Due to side effects to pilot psyche and human or Zentradi endurace could not survive if the fighter is pushed to the limits with the brain control system. In 2046 the VF-22 saw first action in the Protodevlin war under married pilot aces Maximillian Jenius and Milia Fallyna Jenius. As of 2047 the VF-22 became the fighter of choice by Macross 7 elite Diamond Force squadron. But it seems to me the VF-27 is running on similar principles to the brain control interface system. The endurance part is solved because the pilot is a cyborg.

Given the mysteriousness of Ranka's and Sheryl's mothers do you expect a plot twist? Somehow Ranka has those purple crystals in her body. Sheryl inherited those purple earrings from her mother that she did not meet. All of Ranka's relatives were supposed to be killed. Sheryl doesn't have any relatives in galaxy. The parallels and contrasts are getting my space soap opera Plot Twist senses tinggling.

Macross RPG Sourcebook 3 The Galaxy was my source. But does have have some discrepacies like the fate of SDF-1 in VFX-2. It does have a general overview of the Macross universe. macross.co.uk does mention a British Fire Bomber. Ack! My eyes! Use capitals! Here is a list of known colony emmigration fleets. Thing is you can't expect them to cram everything on a screen. Macross 7 was considered the 37th colony emmigration fleet because there has been 30 Megaroad fleets and 6 New Macross fleets before it. Macross Frontier is considered the 25th New "Macross" class emmigration fleet. With bigger city blocks than Macross 7 or 5. Macross Galaxy was said to be corporate venture. I'm still trying to figure out where they put the New Macross battleship in there. It's different from the shell dome types we've seen before. But Macross 5 had three shelldome city blocks. One I've seen with a New Macross class battleship. I'm not so sure if the other two were equiped with a Macross , likely Uruga class carriers. If they were equiped with three New Macross' then Macross 5 is the most well equiped fleet known , with also a Zentradi Neo Nupetiet-Vergnitzs class as escort.

Leon is working for a different group of interest. While he sports a NUNS rank and works under the president, whose daughter he's shagging on off-work hours, he seems to be a toady to Mr. Viller or Birla. But even I doubt he's loyal to Mr. Viller. He's too slimy and metrosexual to be any good. Grace is playing everybody. The government, NUNS, Zentradi, LAI, the Vajra. To what end? Given that Grace manipulated Mikhail's confidence I get the feeling Grace had something to do with the Friendly Fire incident which got Mikhail's sister court martialed. Frontier is in deep space away from colonies who were they fighting?

LAI is owned by Luca's family so I don't think so. More like Leon and LAI are considered pawns by Grace much like Temjin. We still don't know where SMS owner Mr. Viller (Birla?) stands in all of this. Though I get the feeling of Sharon Apple all over again. AI revolution having all of the Protoculture's children and legacy destroying each other.

As Alto said exploration was sabotaged. Temjin despite his Zentradi superiority manifesto still got help and info from a miclone. Even if she is a cyborg. Temjin said to his trrops there is something on the planet that would benefit their cause. So he may have an idea that the Global is there but have no idea what's within.

Unless one wants longevity or immortality. A full blooded human's lifespan is nothing compared to a Zentradi. Now the Grace we now know could be just an AI. But as we've seen with Sharon Apple there needs to be a human personality template as fully sentient AI has not been achieved without one in 2040. So there could have been a real Grace O'Connor we just don't know if her real body is still alive. The case may also apply to Brera Stern. From what we know from Macross Plus there have been attemps at AI with emotion chips but that was a failure due to the self preservation mentality and irrationality of AI. Given that the BCS, the AI emotion interface and the Mind System (Macross 7 Trash) were deemed too dangerous I see why in such places as Frontier cybernetics is banned.

Been there done that with the space whales of Zola. But given the Mao Nome's connection I'm thinking another experiment by the Protoculture gone wrong like the Evil series, which the Protodevlin jacked. Why else would the red types sport Protoculture spiral sigil. Humans do have a damn knack for stumbling on their weapons sites. (Like New Asia in the Sega M3 game and Varuta in Macross 7.)

Something tells me for the next few episodes Macross Frontier fleet will be hunted by the Vajra. Much like Macross 7 was hunted down by the Protodevlin. Ohgathwai will appear with reinforcements later. The 33rd Marines can't just have one ship.

In Macross Plus the emotion chips were illegal because they tend to make AI have too much self-preservation instinct and irrationality. Though society at the time were welcoming the posibility of sentient AI there must have been cases before Sharon Apple where AI became dangerous. Sharon Apple was the straw that broke the camel's back that made societies like Frontier be wary of AI and augmentation. With the former existence of the Zentradi and after the Protodevlin it is likely Macross humans were wary of making the same mistakes as the Protoculture.

Something tells me Grace isn't human or a mere cyborg at all but an AI. In Macross Plus people were fine with sentient AI but AI with illegal emotion chips were considered dangerous. Grace doesn't care if you're human, Zentran or Vajra.
