I think your Ley Beagle is a great deal! Someone could have both of the Japanese releases for less than someone paid for just the Stick version a few months ago. Thanks for keeping us from floating away on any Mospeada highs Gubaba, keep us grounded. I will change all my declarations to 'M O S P E A D A -might- Be BACK!' - that way no one gets too excited. Have to admit though, Yamato doing a V2 quality Legioss and Tread is enticing to dream about...

Great review! I only skimmed it and will go back and really try to digest the info. Although I doubt I will ever have any of the 1/48th line, I LOVE the completeness of it with all the accessories. And it looks like you could actually touch the mechs without losing all enjoyment, unlike Yamato's massive offerings... Just saw one of the primo 1/12 Battle Oddon sets go for only 28,500 yen - that's pretty cheap for that set! (believe it or not) ...

No wind taken out of my sails. I post those 'Mospeada is Back' takes just to to yank some chains, and have a little fun. Although for an obscure, niche series no ones interested in, many are still calling for Yamato to make that their next toy line. Yeah, yeah - I know, only 15 people in the world, yada yada yada, 'Mospeada has nothing on Macross' on and on... Anyway - I have literally seen these go for $600 + with my own eyes and here's one for only $275! I could not financially afford a Mospeada revival anyway. But I do hope Toynami's Glaug is successful enough that they consider a line of Invid vinyls in 1/48 / 155. I could handle that...

There are 2 thin, vertical slots in the Beta chest that I think accommodate the pegs necessary for a chest cover. These 2 slots are just inside the 2 circles things that slide in and out. I will take some photos and maybe throw out a sketch soon to keep the ball rolling...

I love how the big bend in the figure's pipe weapon is there so you can wrap it right around the smashed VF-1A's smashed dome...

First reaction to trailer is - no - didn't intrigue me, felt forced, did not feel like a hit...

This chest cover looks awesome for a couple reasons: a. Mars Base symbol breaks up stark white area b. Corners / edges are heavily rounded which match the chest curve and give a nice organic feel - so sharp edges should be avoided. The primary concern should be the soldier mode, and however it looks as a gap filler in bomber mode is how it is. No design compromises should be made to the chest piece for its dual roll. As a marketing guy, a 'Beta /Tread Upgrade Pack' might get even more buyers. For example the missing top missile pods Toynami also neglected to put in. I added them here in photoshop. You do the chest covers and top pods, and offer painting services, you might get 15 customers wanting 1, 2 or 3 sets... PS - I think for my idea and marketing direction alone I deserve a free finished set! Remember me kindly you 3D part maker guys when you make it big... : )

By the looks of your customer list for the VF-1 side covers and saddlebags, picking up a cheap Beta shouldn't be hard for a high roller like you! "Somebody get this man a Beta please..."
