  1. No Gundam site can be to par with MW ever... Gundam sucks, Gundam has anoying little kid fans who just flame each other and talk about how their favorite MS can kick the ass of any other mecha from any other show.

The only non-retarted Gundam fans are also Macross fans (they probably like Gundam for some nostalgic reason), hence they hang out here.

You're precisely the last person to have any right to comment on the worth and maturity of another shows fanbase.

  2. Both, perferably with time codes, making it easier to locate when to cap.

I've taken about 20 screen caps, will upload them in a couple of hours when I can.

I've got the timecodes for them, but they'll probably only be a rough guide since the R4 times won't match up exactly due to the NTSC>PAL conversion.

  3. Fumoffu.

Tessa vs Kaname. With Sagara caught in between. Priceless.

    Nuff said.

    Well, Tessa's more than enough.

Tessa's and Sagara's respective "behaviour" when Tessa was around were just priceless. Better acting than when he's with Kaname.

I want more Fumoffu and more Tessa! ^_^

oh, yeah, btw. The music/songs on Fomuffu was also better.

That's the thing, the Tessa episodes were great, much better than all the others.. but it was only about three episodes out of twelve.

All the comedy that revolved around the characters interactions were great, but many the more wacky things (zombie janitors?) were flat out stupid.

  4. Yup.

It's called Fumoffu. It's way better than the first tv-series.

Arguable. I personally thought the first season was a lot better. Fumoffu is really over the top so much that at times it isn't even funny but annoying.

Exactly. It's very hit and miss - it can be hilarious, but it can also be extremely unfunny.

  5. 'tis "Enterprise" syndrome.... the gadgets and effects look soo much better than Kirk and the 60s.

Except unlike "Enterprise" syndrome, they don't look so much more advanced.

Really, compare a VF-0 to a VF-1 and take into account that the VF-0 is being animated with CG. It's hardly more advanced.

Heck, look at the VF-0 scenes that are done with regular animation, they don't look more advanced at all.

  6. Call me an elitist UC jerk, because that's what I am, and nothing will change that. Nothing will also change the fact that many AU fans won't listen.

And why should they, since what you're telling them amounts to "hey, that show you really like sucks, you should be watching this instead"?

The whole superiority complex UC elitists such as yourself have disgusts me and makes me ashamed to be considered part of the old older Gundam fanbase.

I found Wing so bad it bordered on unwatchable myself, but I didn't take it upon myself to be a complete jerk and basically spit on AU/Wing fans by telling them how bad their favorite show was. I sure as hell didn't tell them to go watch MSG because frankly, that show is frakking terrible and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone let alone modern Gundam fans.

  7. Ok, just finished X last night, and while cool...WHAT THE HELL WAS UP WITH DOME! I realize the episode count was dropped by at least 10, but that whole nonsensicle babble about Newtypes being illusions....! That alone dropped X a few points.

    Nonsensicle?

What exactly was hard to understand? DOME's speach was actually pretty simple.

He (it?) wasn't saying that Newtypes themselves were only an illusion, but the concept of Newtypes and what they stood for was an illusion.

With the emergence of Newtypes, people came to see them as the next step of humanity, and with their powers, the ones who would create the future.

DOME's point was that was not the case, and that the future is created not by Newtypes with powers, but by those with the strength and will to create their own futures. Thus his mentioning of Tifa's visions of the future and how Garrod had made it so that not a single one of them had come to pass.

  8. It was really good, dont get me wrong, but talk about continuity......

Don't get too caught up in it - DYRL has no continuity. Just enjoy it as a different way of looking at things, like an alternate universe view essentially.

(Well, no continuity other than the groan worthy "it's a movie made by the people in the universe!" retcon of course)

  9. I remember reading Mecha Press from around the time Victory Gundam came out and it seemed to be pretty popular in Japan when it was being broadcast. I'm guessing a lot of the American Gundam fans dismissed it because it wasn't "serious" enough or some bollocks like that.

Uh.. Victory bombed in Japan. The show and it's merchandise line were a complete commercial failure. Ratings wise it ranks as the third lowest rating Gundam series of all time, the only ones rating worse being Gundam X and Turn-A Gundam.

It was the deathblow to the already bled dry UC timeline. Hell, it was essentially an alternate universe show with the UC label slapped onto it as it was. Gundam X was closer in spirit to the UC.

Show wise, even more awkward beginning. There was no real rason to start the story 2 episodes ahead,

Bandai didn't want a Gundam series where the title Gundam didn't appear for the first three episodes.

I just wish I could get a really nice fansub of it.

  10. Either way, I've always understood that the reason the Animeigo Macross hasn't been ripped already was from the bootleggers fear of Animeigo, not HG. Apparently Animeigo takes their hard work very seriously and has threatened severe legal action more than a few times to HK DVD makers who were producing rips of their other work.

Hopefully someone has dropped Animeigo a helpful email regarding this then.

  11. According to Macross Compendium, the movie is the story as it was originally intended.

Yeah, and the Star Wars special editions are how they were 'originally intended' - irrelevant.

No matter how you spin it, the movie was a reedit of the OVA, and it shows.

As far as "nothing of consequence" being removed? I'd say removing the main scene that shows Isamu isn't a complete jerk and actually cares at least a bit about Myung and replacing it with an absolutely worthless fanservice scene counts as doing a disservice.

The dub.. was poor. Isamu was actually cast and done quite well, every other character definately was not.
