  1. Yeah.. Macross was created by Shoji Kawamori, a prolific anime creator and mech designer who also had a hand in the creation of Escaflowne. The creator of Gundam is Yoshiyuki Tomino. He's one of the guys who was involved with anime from the beginning; he helped produce one of the first anime series in Japan- Tetsuwan Atom. In a way, you could say he opened the door for Macross; with the original Gundam series, he ushered in the era of Real Robots, which gave birth to shows like Votoms, SPT Layzner, and Macross.
  2. Cool pics; thanks for sharing! ...Somebody get that Yoko a sandwich.
  3. I agree. I wonder how much this is going to be going for on ebay.
  4. Yeah; that was Super-Cool. I think she's some type of Zentradi/Vajra/human hybrid.
  5. HA! I thought so! I called it back in "The Legend Of Zero"! So why ? The stream isn't working anymore..
  6. No doubt. How do you get them so quickly? Are you in Japan?
  7. Jeeg is looking pretty sweet! I guess it will come with two heads; one static, anime-accurate head and one with the transformation feature. Now if only someone would license the anime for release in the States. Some of my fansub episodes are missing the subs.
  8. Not too wild about the Fulldrillized Gurren Lagann. The effect was cool in the context of the show, but all of the drills detract from the aesthetic of the 'bot, in my opinion. If it comes with Gurren Wing part(s), I'll probably pick it up, however. I like the silver drill key, and I could use the forearms as alternate arms for my regular GL Revoltech. By the way; here's a link to the Revoltech Enki- http://www.collectiondx.com/node/2453 Anyone know when this will be released?
  9. So what's out right now? Are you referring to the DVD produced by ADV before they lost the license, or are you talking about the Bandai Subs? And is Bandai releasing the discs one every month or so, or are they releasing the series in its entirety (box set)? By the way; hope you get well soon.
  10. I'm not very experienced with Revoltech figures. What's the difference between Revoltech and Frauline Revoltech?
  11. Thanks for your efforts at preserving classic anime, Area88! Much appreciated!
  12. NICE. Just when I think I've sated my appetite for SOCs, a new one comes along to re-awaken the fever. This will be mine!
  13. Good point; I was thinking the same thing. I don't think that this is the case, though. Made me happy, too. I wish we could have seen more of her, though.
  14. That is freakin' cool! Please tell how you made it!
  15. Here's a link for the Japanese trailer for the film. The Mech appears in the last scene of the trailer. I was mistaken about it being powered armor; looks like it is an out-and-out mecha. It looks like the thing is maybe 12 to 20 meters tall? I'm basing this on the shadow cast by the thing as Rico looks up at it. http://io9.com/5012424/starship-troopers-3...eapons-new-toys I'd guess about as tall as 2 votoms scopedog mechs stacked on top of each other, or about the size of a first generation Valkyrie?
  16. I just stumbled on this picture of the Power Armor that will be featured in this film- Pretty slick, IMO. I look forward to seeing how they pull it off.
  17. Thank you! I didn't know the compendium existed; thanks for the link!
  18. I'm kind of embarrassed to ask this, but it's been nagging me for a while now. Why are some fighters labled "YF", while others are labeled "VF"? What do the letters signify?
  19. My perception is probably clouded by the fact that this is the last episode that I saw, but my vote went to Legend Of Zero. First and foremost, I loved the fact that the story dealt with the events of Macross Zero. For me, this sort of cemented M. Zero into Macross continuity, and struck a nostalgic chord with me. Like someone mentioned on another thread-- the episode was like a love letter to the fans, and I dug it. The episode also did a great job meshing the story with the music of the series. I'm a big fan of the lullaby that Ranka sings (I can't remember the title), and I loved the way it was used in the 'Bird Human' film. In fact, I imagine that I'd enjoy the Bird Human film more than I liked Macross Zero! The character development of Ranka (and to a lesser extent, Sheryl and Alto) was great. For me, this episode marked the first time that I could view Ranka as a sympathetic character. It looks like the kid is finally coming into her own; the scene in which she decides to take control of her destiny was moving. And the understated tension between Alto and Sheryl was cool to watch. I don't think it will be long before the two of them admit to themselves how they feel about one another. All in all, this episode was emotionally satisfying. I'm disappointed by the lack of mecha action, and the slapped-together animation quality during the fight with the pet pokemon, but the nostalgia factor, music, and character development more than made up for it.
  20. Thanks! It looks like The Avengers is really going to happen!
