Never watch basketball (find it boring) and haven't played since high school 23 years ago.........LOL!
As you can gather, a basketball anime, even it it is with robots and by Kawamori, is way, way down on my list of things to follow.

Saw the trailer... Man... the idea is so trippi... Even to Kawamori standards...
They are actually transforming mecha that change from pimp-mobiles to human piloted mecha basket-ball players...
The CGI animation is superb...

I just downloaded and watched the whole japanese TV series...
I had read the manga before, which was excellent... But the TV anime, despite departing from the manga was actually incredibly good and well done.
It is the most realistic space adventure sci-fi anime I've ever seen in recent years... hell, it actually made me want to become an astronaut!!!

Pass, no thanks. I have no interest in basketball playing robots.
C'mon Shoji, let's have more Macross!
Graham
I used to think that way of robots/mecha playing sports, until I saw "2020 Baseball" in the old Neo Geo game system. The concept was pretty kewl, since players literally blow to pieces if stroke by the ball (in that game). Will check if Kawamori took one or two ideas from it...

Then, what name has it?
AFAIK... There's still no official name for the Anti-U.N. SV-51... yet...

You're a true fan (and filthy rich) if you can buy this.
This looks more like a promotional set for stores as opposed to retail customers.I agree... This seems more like an anime-comics-toy-store oriented package. Still, I'm very interested in the macronized Clan figure. Wish they produced a smaller one... Similar in height to the 1/100 valkyries...

Waiting for more arts.....
We need more Macross mecha art...
I think this is newNope. Saw that months ago in the first art thread...

For me the best Macross animated productions have been:
1- The Super Dimension Fortress Macross
2- The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love?
3- Macross Frontier
4- Macross Zero
5- Macross Plus OVA

What would be the chances of this happening? It would make sense since by that time Frontier TV series should be done, and it'd be Macross: DYRL 25th anniversary. Most likely it'll depend of the commercial success of the current series. I'd be really excited to see the the level of production shown on the Frontier TV series brought up to an even bigger scope in the form of a feature film. I wonder if SK has mentioned anything regarding a movie.
You were right dude...

Interesting news. The PSP game Macross ACE Frontier outsold its predecessor, Gundam Battle Universe in the opening week.

Music to my ears...
Maybe they will make an enhanced PS2 adaptation after that...

Quite enjoying the game. Playing the VF-17D. A bit disappointed that the designers made the same mistake as with VF-X2 in that they made the VF-17's gunpod a beam weapon, insted of a 7 barreled 30mm.
Err... Maybe the VF-17's gunpod already has the beam adapter installed by default?
I just unlocked the Vajra queen by playing through the co-op free-play missions, for some strange reason, I've found it easy to S the big ship missions, but the pilot missions are giving me trouble. Also figured out how to co-op play through the in game mission (duh), just hit to the left or right on the crosspad when the co-op missions are listed....can't believe it took me that long to figure out.Pics please...

if its just going to be a retelling can we get a more adult version of what happened with alto and sheryl in the satome mansion when the sms when pirate?
I hope they get rid of the school uniforms for good this time...
-
That'd be nice, but don't count on it. Before this developer did Ace Frontier, they did four Gundam Battle games for the PSP that never saw a PS2 release.
Well... Even Dinasty Warriors Gundam for the PS3 got a PS2 port (with more units and characters) after being a commercial success in Japan... So I hope I see a PS2 version soon. I have to wait for saving enough for a PSP anyway, hehe...
-
Thats right, but by the way that some people carry on here you would think that we did have a choice at the time.
Taksraven
Err... I was 12 years old back then dude and completely blank about what real anime is...
Hell... All I cared for was the mecha...
(Never ever blame the kids...)

- Ozma wanting to prove he is a man at every occasion possible surely because he doesn't want to admit to himself the INDISPUTABLE fact he is gay. So he found a good way to deny his homosexuality in ''protecting women he loves'' lol.
Bobby's dream made true...

I think this is a big mistake. Sure, it'll be great and look great, but we still have these gigantic plot holes left over from the series with no answers in sight.
As long as the animation and the designs are superb, I don't mind plot-holes...
I really really hope we see re-designed mecha on the film...

A Japanese wiki for Macross Ace Frontier gave a nickname for the VF-27:
VF-27 Lucifer
It fits (Messiah VS Lucifer), but it's only a wiki, and of a tie-in game, so take it with a grain of salt.
Kinda like mine... VF-27 Slayer (which fits more with the "Xiao Pai Long" reference...), hehehe...
Lucifer fits a lot with the valk's look though...
By the way, the VF-171 is called Nightmare Plus.FV
Whoa... This means the VF-171EX is called Nightmare Plus EX?
-
I don't get it... Is this a parody? It reads "Sorry... Ranka-chan... Alto..."
Mark
Is a parody of a "boxing" manga called Ashita No Joe (Tomorrow's Joe)... The final scene...
It made me cry...

for me the vf 2ss has the best mecha design!!!
Love that valk design. Even if is not from Kawamori... I like the hi-tech/starfighter look of its nose and cockpit a lot...

Frontier had very little to do with Zero.
Err... Are you kidding me? Actually I found more visual references to Zero than Seven on Frontier... And they showed lots of Birdman and other scenes (Protoculture related) from Zero a lot, while they showed only few from Seven (The main colony vessel? Basara's guitar?). Hell, episode 10 basically referenced the whole Macross ZERO OVA...
And we even got to see a character from Zero now much much older. Where were the older Basara, Isamu, Misa, Hikaru, etc. I ask?

Damn... I wish I had a PSP. Does anybody know if this game is going to be released for the PS2 too? Sillent Hill Origins was released on the PS2 after being a success in the PSP a few months later...
ok let's relax now...
