Anyone take their GBP Takani fists and put them on a non-armored valk and recreate the 'hands a bit mis-scaled' old 1/100 Arii kits/toys?
If so I missed it-point the way (my box is tucked away already)

For some reason, I hear Pedro Pascal's voice with that Ithorian at the beginning of the trailer.

Also in the Mandalorian, I think they established that big-time bounties are slim in the days of the New Republic. Maybe Boba, in his time of self-reflection, has decided to branch out of the bounty business...

A lot of people are saying the same thing, I even hear it, but if you watch with subs, it just credits "guard" or something generic as the voice :(

@peter That's TOOOoooo funny! Too true too!

@wm cheng Your Eagle is looking awesome! Too bad about having to redo it, but sometimes its just worth knowing that you went that extra mile! I'll have to mess with colored pencils!

@electric indigo The details look great on that figure! The cast parts and finish on them is a nice touch!

I actually got a bit of modelling done this weekend!

Irony is using an actual exploded shell fuse to hold down a model exploded artillery piece. It was handy and worked perfect. Both the glue and glued sand mixture are drying now.

Most of the turret parts and hull parts are now glued together. I forgot how easy it us to just glue together a model without having to make the pieces. - funny!

This is a GREAT kit! The parts fit is great and it came with brass antenna mounts and a brass muzzle brake. There are a bunch of clear parts and photo-etch too.

I'm going to have to fix the end of the barrel. It has indents in from being attacked by a giant cat!

That's it for this weekend. Thanks for checking in! - MT

Reminds me of our top heavy G-Wagons, which have a tendency to roll over a lot, lol!

Well, theoretically you could also make the argument that "white on-screen" = "silver or aluminium in reality", as that is the case in some other anime series...

OTOH, since it is capable of space flight, there you would actually prefer bright colors (or even better, gold) for thermal reasons in reality.

Ok, I was also thinking that too, they chose white on screen because it was too difficult to portray aluminum.....and also thought about the space shuttle and other real world space craft being white.

The color may not be accurate, but it sure looks dang good! I kind-of prefer the gray rather than white sometimes.

Thanks!  Were there any real world fighter craft back in the 80s that were painted white like that for combat operations?

I wonder why they went with white in the anime, was it just more visible on screen, easier to animate, or because white ink was on sale?

  6. What's the consensus, worth watching in theatre?  I hear the visuals are incredible, but are they enough to get me off my lazy butt and into a theatre.

I'm familiar with the background story, watched the 84 version numerous times, will it just piss me off when they cut it off and make me wait for part 2?

Thinking about just skipping it in theatres and watching them both back to back when part 2 is available to stream.

  7. I know this would have been unlikely (this is a clear demonstration of how I don't understand the film industry), but would have been cool if they filmed two versions simultaneously, an actual English version and a Japanese version with Japanese speaking actors (lots of talented non Japanese who ca. Speak Japanese fluently).

One cut films the English version, stop, swap out actors for he same scene in Japanese.

Lol, yeah, I know, probably a logistical nightmare.

Dubbed movies have always been a distraction for me, takes me right out of the film.

I did it again - though I wrote somewhere back in this thread I would not repaint a DX ever again. But I couldn’t stand the look of my poor yellowed YF-25 and felt I had to do something about it. Use of peroxide was no option. Good thing I had already knowledge concerning disassembly and scratch sensitive parts.

The color scheme was an easy choice: VF-31A Kairos. It took me a couple of weeks as I did not have much free time for modeling but finally it’s done:

    YF-25 Xaos Gamma Flight 01

Before repaint (in reality the white parts are much more yellowed than in the picture and on the lower side, too)

OK, I don't remember much of Mac F and don't know a thing about Mac D, but the repaint looks way better than the original paint scheme.

Unless you're shipping to Australia, in which case Amazon JP no longer ship to Australia thanks to our government requesting foreign online stores to collect GST and report back to AU Tax Office about all sales to Australia so the ATO can collect that tax. Amazon JP don't want to deal with that rubbish so Aussie collectors are unable to buy from Amazon JP easily - you can still buy, but the items must be shipped to a shipping forwarder or a friend in Japan - No Amazon discounts that can be taken advantage of in majority of cases. 😢

    Oh, that sounds lame.

Looks like a lot of sellers simply won't ship to Canada, but once in a blue moon, someone pops up.

If that includes shipping, duty, taxes, etc. that is an amazing price. Congrats!

When shopping on amazon Japan, don't forget the sticker price includes domestic tax, which gets taken off at check out!

Always worth throwing it into the cart and calculate shipping and duty to see what the total damage might be.

I wasn't into modding... yet. But I'm guessing we can replace the joints with something more sturdier or strengthen it somehow? But yeah, with years of building Gundam kits OOB, I believe Hasegawa's is more of a display kit. You plan ahead what the pose is going to be and have it build that way.

I ended using CA glue to reattach the peg back to the shoulder, but I don't even want to touch my 1/72 much (yeah, I know, I went too gray on the paint). IMG_20211027_140338.jpg.2ecc8bd3c513e07b53a4837204419b73.jpgIMG_20211027_140540.jpg.b7879804a4e21423c8c5af60e73d65d6.jpg

I built one OOB just to test it out years ago. And yes, it's bad enough that it can't support the weight of the kit. Mine is a Strike VF-1S. :(

I built a plain 1S and after posing it a few times, the shoulder broke and the hip broke.

For my next battroid, I'm just going to build, pose once and leave it alone on the shelf.

For multiple poses, I guess I'll just stick to my toys
