I said I get my macros info from anymoon :)

I don't know if I've ever said this but your channel is awesome.  It's fair and it's informative.  Once in a while, something NSFW pops up, and I got the stink eye from the wife, but all in all, good stuff.

Seems like you could still get a hundred bucks or so with the right interested buyer...

Does your have the fancy lenticular card?

Oh, that holographic thing?  Yup.  I should figure out how to sell things on eBay....local craigslist and FB Marketplace.....not a lot of Macross fans in my area.

Good for those that filled out the survey. Don't know how if this will work out in Canada (if appoved) as there is also a batch if Macross fans up here as well.

Will it be easier for us Canuckle Heads getting our needed DX crack fix? Time will tell.

Lol, I filled out the survey, told them AJ and HLJ are good for Macross purchases, told them Nippon Yasan stole my money.

I know, totally unrelated, but figured it couldn't hurt for them to hear that.

Also asked for them to do an SDF1, a 1/48 VF-1A cannon fodder, low vis, also told them I wanted their 1/32 VF-1J prototype.....lol, it was like a list for Santa.  Unrealistic but fun :)

Not sure where to post this. I saw on Twitter that Bandai had a QR code you could scan at NYCC this week to do a survey about Macross toys in Canada and the U.S. (possibly other locations, not sure). I just did the survey and I thought some of you may be interested. I assume they are trying to figure out what to sell outside of Japan?

After 3wks of chores, I finally got through enough of them to start a model (in between jobs - finished 3rd season of The Boys, everyone go see that next year / but I'm especially proud of Foundation I did last year, everyone please see that which is airing NOW!).  I'm starting the G.W.H. 1/72 F-15C Eagle (can't wait to place it between my F-14 & F-16).  Started a few days ago on the cockpit office with Quickboost Resin seat (not really recommended - had to scratch build the ejection rails) and Eduard Photo-etched set.

The details you paint are smaller than the grooves of your fingerprints..

Mrs QRau is now painted. GAAWWD I had forgotten what a royal PITA these old Macross kits are to paint! I'm hoping that some creative weathering, detailing and the kit decals cover up most of my mistakes... IF they come off the 30 some odd year old decal paper... Hopefully will get this finished up this weekend... Bodolza willing...

I have one of those in my pile, and yeah, I totally agree about the older kits....parts sandwiched in other parts, making painting and seam filling a huge PITA.

    Yours looks good though.

Pulled some Macross’ the First volumes off the shelf yesterday and today. They are gorgeous, and annoyingly incomplete.. i have all 6 physical volumes, i was irritated to find they were rebooted without even finishing a first time around…

what got me to get them off the shelf was some very wishful thinking as i am rewatching SDF Macross. I decided to rewatch THIS time with the english dub just to check it out, but I took the blu rays and dvds and replaced that crummy dvd film grain video with the nice 1080p, did a bit of combining in Premiere and the result is not bad. As i age (48) im less actively hostile toward dubbing..

ANYHOW.. its so clear that every other episode or so was farmed out to be poorly drawn and Mikimoto’s character designs are not faithfully recreated in threes Eps at all… which got me to look again, wistfully, at what did get completed of ‘The First’

So the wishful thinking was that someday someone would truly remaster the tv show, like by carefully fixing everything, redrawing the bad stuff with the exact same look as the original.. 36 episodes of Ai Wa Nagareru or Pine Salad quality!  (Think Like the grassroots Star Wars Despecialized Edition kind of project.. if i were 20 I’d probably try to do it myself! (I was going to be an illustrator but ended up in graphic design, then IT) … if anyone noticed sell it to that American company we all love haha. ) That is what got me looking at The First again.. ah well, will never happen. And anime character design has turned a corner, mostly into styles I dont like. Even Mikimoto, while getting even more skill.. has still changed to characters with less softness whose nose tips are sharp enough to cut glass in these modern manga versions. At least he still put lots details in. As a kid, one of the attractive thing about Macross was how realistic the story seemed compared to normal American TV fare, and his character designs looked more like regular people than all the superheroes and such.

Wow,  i didnt mean to write an essay. Maybe ill copy it into a post on facebook and other old timers car reminisce too. Continuing this discussion would very way off the topic of the manga.

I’m assuming that Macross the First is truly dead by now and will not be finished. :( Someone know different??

It will probably done by a fan before it gets done officially.

I would love to see MFirst animated.  I would love to see the folks that did the Pachinko cut scenes redo the entirety of SDFM.  It would be awesome if they took DYRL designs and completely redid SDFM with them.

    Anyway, just my ramblings.

How did you feel about Star Wars after the Sequels?  How do you feel about Star Wars now even after The Mandalorian?  If not as enthusiastic anymore...then you are suffering from well-deserved franchise burnout...it will take time to rebuild the brand...for some it will never be recovered...

But if Star Wars can comeback after the Sequels, there is no reason the GoT franchise can't as well and deliver a decent show....to be honest...it was just the way it all ended for GoT that "ruined" it...it was great for all the previous seasons...Besides, as long as I have a paid subscription and HBO keeps releasing movies at home at the same time as theatres....I have no reason not to watch House of the Dragon....

    Hmm..... Interesting.

The Sequel trilogy nearly killed it for me with SW.... Mando was awesome so it brought me back again and the new anime series is a + in my book.  I'm glad there is a bit of a breather until the next season of Mando though.

Yeah, I really, really liked GOT right up until the last season, so I would probably still like it if I went back to watch those seasons.

Maybe I just have my head in other things at the moment, but that trailer didn't get me back in.

Maybe the next trailer will show something a bit more interesting for me?

  9. Dug my chunky out. The box isn't in the best shape, but the toy itself  basically stays in the box in a dark room.

Such a breeze to transform the old chunkies, lol!

The other 1J Hikaru in my collection (Hasegawa 1/72 1J).  Building models has really pulled me away from toy collecting the last few years.

What is the missile count of the GBP vs the Legioss (we can include the Imai arm missile box too)
Who would win in a stand off  :)

Always the GBP...but that's my personal bias, lol!  Macross above all else, even if it is totally unreasonable.

Those two are to scale right?

    GBP for sure 😁

Don't listen to @Slave IV as you have to mail the re-issues down to So Cal. I can swing over to your place in roughly 20 mins and take it from you. 😛

Hahahahaha!  These old chunkies are more popular than I thought, will try to post pics of the thing beside my GBP 1J later if I can sneak away from work for a bit :)

So any chance we'll be able to spot you as an extra when the new "Shogun" airs?

    Lol, probably not :(

They're still filming, but I was only involved in training extras.

I didn't really pay attention to this before, but the camera hardly ever focuses on extra's faces.  Even when people are pointing out that they are in such and such a scene, it's always a blink and you'll miss it thing.
