Thanks. Time to find a new proxy.... <_<

FromJapan I only use to buy auction stuff now and don't even try TWEs anymore. Granted, I haven't tried with this one since I'm going for the combo sets. But FJ has been too difficult to get TWEs the past few goes.

Oh nice.  Liking this pinned thread!  I posted this in the GBP thread before I saw this new one:

Just ordered the 1J with the GBP armor from Luna Park Toys.  ¥38,500 + ¥5,000 shipping.  Payment up front :( (but at least my CDN dollar is doing well right now).

    https://www.lunapark.store/product-page/dx-chogokin-vf-1j-armored-valkyrie-ichijyo-hikaru-japan-version

Don't know if it'll be cheaper at other places, but I'm sooo tired of the F5 button ;)

It will likely be cheaper at a few sites on PO day, but availability that day at retail becomes part of the fun. Sometimes it is nice to just pay the markup and not worry. I've used Luna Park before and they delivered fine.

Yeah I thought we'd get a day between the full announcement and pre-orders, dang. Guess I'll try for the set next week, dunno if I really need two VF-1Js though.

More retailers will open up, plus you can order through proxies to the p-Bandai site itself. AE can usually get the TWE items and I don't think they've popped up yet.

Definitely!  Got plenty of alcohol in the bar so I'm stocked and ready LOL

Also, what's the shipping situation with places like anime export etc.?  Will they ship to the USA?  I'm assuming I have to choose a certain shipping option to ensure that I'm able to place the order.

Yes, they ship to the US. Options are limited to more expensive options currently, since Japan Post has limited shipping options, so expect to pay $40-60 shipping. OTOH, you'll get it really quick with options like DHL.

Question, are the sites you guys have been listing in this discussion thread good places to get the combo set on the 28th?  I missed out on the OG VF-1J so the set is perfect for me.  I know it's probably going to be a pain in the butt but I have to try.  I'm on the East Coast and I looked at the time zone and it goes up at 3:00am for me, which sucks but it is what it is I guess.

The combo will likely be at additional sites, since it appears they are doing the armor-only as a Tamashii Web Exclusive (so the larger places may be less likely to have them). So for the combo set, you'll see a lot more places open up like HLJ. OTOH, the TWE stuff usually seems a bit easier to get up front for retail or near-retail, whereas the general release stuff can get hammered by scalpers pretty quickly.

The key thing for PO night for the combos: keep an eye out for sites here, be prepared to share any sites you find that have availability, and prepare to be frustrated when you think you've purchased but get to the payment screen and they are unavailable.

There should be a "never" in there somewhere. :p

In hindsight -- with a Japanese Blu-ray release to appreciate -- its faults may not seem too egregious, but remember all we had for years was the US Renditions dub on VHS... and Robotech had a much better cast by comparison. <_<

I actually have a soft spot for Macross II myself ; I'd rather watch the whole series again than suffer through a single episode of Macross 7 or Delta.  As poorly as those sequels were received, they were never so reviled as to be stricken from canon entirely.

I have a soft spot for Macross II as well.

Cool! Does it come with the pilot figure pictured?

He said he made the pilot figures but it wasn't clear if they are included or if he is going to make them available separately.

He also had a color variation (he notes he is color blind) so the first color was more pinkish. You can see it here:

MEPTOYS is going to do preorder on the scout, trooper, and an cougar inorganic from the Sentinels at the same time in the near future.

Whether they did or not, I think it's pretty clear that Big West acknowledging Harmony Gold's distribution deal in the US means that anyone who wants to sell stuff here is going to have to go through HG, and give them a cut, like I always assumed they demanded, but BW forbid.

However, even if companies like Arcadia and Bandai decide that the expanded market is worth pursuing, I have to wonder where that leaves companies like Kids Logic, Kitzconcept, or even Toynami.  I'd expect HG has existing contracts with those manufacturers that they would probably have to break, or let expire, before they started steamrolling over them with higher quality products from Japan.

While we don't know what the details are on the licenses, they seem specific enough to allow both Toynami and KC to release transforming VF-1s- so the licenses are either not exclusive or they are very exclusive to specific scales (Toynami with 1/100 and KC with 1/72). So this may prove a difficulty for the HMR stuff (not that we have any of that coming out lately) but could open up the Arcadia 1/60 and Bandai 1/48 (or even a newer release of the chunkys again).

Of course, the fact I'm not seeing some of the non-Macross HMR stuff like Dougram already floating around in the states does temper any excitement I might have that we'll see anything on shelves here anytime soon. If anything, we'll maybe see availability in BBTS (hopefully).

For a moment there, i read it as in the year 2022... :o

which in this pandemic, think in terms of years was pre-conditioned since last year...

I thought the same. I almost felt we'd been past April already. It's been that sort of year.

I finally got a newsletter mentioning it again last night.

Yep, and looks like this will be one of the variant covers:

Also looks like they will be Kickstarting so it looks like it isn't a set-in-stone release yet (though Kickstarting is how a lot of game companies are ensuring a market ahead of time now, even if a number of folks got burned in the RRT fiasco with Palladium).

Ugh.....I like that a lot less than the trooper.  I hope that's not the final prototype, though I might get one or two just to have them. I'm definitely in for multiple troopers, though.  I dig that sculpt, not so much the scout.

Thanks for the pic, by the way.

That was the initial prototype. They've refined the design a bit to make it look better. Here's a few shots from the FB page of the factory sample (unpainted). It isn't Cap awesomeness, but as I've said before, I can't make a model look good to save my life.

May be an image of insect

After the first Savage Worlds Robotech: Macross book, I don't have any real hopes for the further books Battlefield Press does or the revised edition of the Macross book.  I feel the Battlefield Press Savage World book was very half assed in terms of content.  It was basically just a book you put on your shelf to say you have a Savage Worlds Robotech book, not something to actually play or even be playable.

I think the SMG version is vastly better, and is a valiant attempt at a Robotech RPG.  I remember the announcement years ago that Southern Cross and New Generation would be combined into a single book.  But there haven't been any new Robotech projects mentioned in the SMG newsletter for some time, and even mention of Robotech material has been relegated solely to promoting the existing products.  The plans shared by the company seem to have them lined out solid with different projects for the next two years.

Do you have a link to anything recent where SMG was saying that the SC/NG book was still coming?

Last thing I have is some of the early release stuff that mainly showed what content and which order it will be in. I haven't chatted with the authors in a bit, but the image further up the thread is supposed to be from one of the front covers (I know they released the original Macross book in three different covers).
