Gawd, do you remember when it was actually possible to own every Patlabor toy ever made? It was about six months ago! I would love a Labor that size to go with my Bandai DX toy, and I would love even more to have some pilot figures for it. I might just wait for the almost inevitable Unit 2 just so I can have Ota to go with it...

I seem to recall that there were some Macross eraser sets from back in the day, but as these were released about the time of the original series I doubt that they're likely to be cheap anymore...

Its not necessary, no. Most of the main players from CCA are absent for a large part of ZZ, with the exception of Bright Noa, who suffers the misfortune of becoming the Universal Centurys greatest straight man. ZZ is a tad under-rated, largely because of the first twenty-odd episodes, which are a horror show. After that, it improves quite a bit, though some of the damage is permanent. There are numerous theories as to why this is so, although the most common one is that Tomino was tired of Gundam by this point and deliberately tried to sabotage it (my favourite alternative theory, although unfortunately highly unlikely as the time lines don't work, is that the first part was handled by a stand-in as Tomino was busy with work for CCA, and on his return, found out what had happened and metaphorically threw the other guy out the window. Or possibly for real. This is Tomino, after all... )

I quite enjoyed watching SEED, and I actually thought Destiny was better. However, both shows are hollow on the inside, trying very hard to be something they can't - which is the original Gundam series. 00 is an improvement in that its going in its own direction; I don't like every element of 00 but the series background is much more developed than anything we saw in SEED. The other trouble I have with SEED is that Tomino had already shown how to take Gundam in new directions without betraying the spirit of the original, and that was Turn-A. And we hated him for it (until actually seeing Turn-A), and got SEED as a result... -
Sorry, I should have perhaps stressed more that is the unofficial name that is likely to be adopted by ground crew, pilots etc. Not the official name, which is still "Lightning II". Its similar to the way the F-16 is officially the "Fighting Falcon" and universally the "Viper".

Legend has it that the F-35 Lightning II is going to be better known in RAF service as... er... "Dave". Don't expect Lockheed Martin to be using that on the advertising anytime soon. (mandatory cultural explanation: er, beats me. It does seem to be a name that we British find oddly amusing for some reason. Er. Sorry, David. You were probably wanting the YF-23 to be named in your honour... A UK satellite channel recently renamed itself "Dave" for perhaps the same oddly humourous reason. If I had to guess, it might be related to the famous British sitcom "Only Fools and Horses", which features a character who continually refers to another character - called Rodney - as "Dave").

IIRC, it depends on the UC time period. Most Zeta Gundams certainly had at least a partial all-round view, certainly to the front and sides; not sure about the rear off the top of my head. Chars Counterattack period MS all seemed to have all-round view. Other Gundams, it varies a lot. For example, the 00 ones so far seem to have front and side monitors but not all round views. Ret-conning complicates things a bit; IIRC some of the 0083 suits have all-round views too. -

ruskiiVFaussie, the only thing you really have to worry about is that one of the main characters is the only anime character I know who was designed to look like a bearded lady. Other than that, theres hardly any kinky stuff at all. Well, asides from that scene where Rei is painting the Yukikazes nose and bearded-lady-man is watching his sweaty, naked, back longingly... or all the stuff about thrust. And joysticks. Cockpits...

Don't make the mistake I did - my local toy shop also sells art supplies and I was looking for a brush to keep dust off. I picked one out and took it to the counter. The assistant looked at me curiously, and then said "Er... you know thats a horsehair art brush that costs 25 pounds, don't you?". No wonder artists are always portrayed as being poor...!

The aircraft was coming in to land from Bejing so presumably much of the fuel load was burnt already. The official "family" theory from my Dad is that the grass helped absorb the impact... Eyewitness and passengers reports indicate that the aircraft appears to have "swerved" or "see-sawed" just before "dropping" down; reminds me a little of that famous F-22 prototype crash and makes me wonder if the flight control system had a problem - it also appears there was a total loss of engine power...
