  1. Yeap, of course I will create a texture soon, now I am doing GIMP tutorials since I have never done it before. But my model now is not that bad - I mean I did all minor thing to make animation without cheating. Every part of SU-51 looks connected to others, hope you understand what I mean. not sure I can handle bump mapping now, but I am planning to do next model (probably vf-0s) with all these features like normal map, diffuse map and specular map. Also, my modeling skills are getting better I suppose, so the next model will be quite OK. That's right, unreal engine 3 works fine 15k triangle models, so term low poly is quite broad these days Anyway, I have started Python programming for Blender Game Engine, and there are some indication that in 2-3 months there will be first playable demo with gameplay. You can mark my words!

  5. Weekly update! Still several minor drawbacks, but the mesh is almost completely ready for animation without cheating. Up to now it has 11k triangles. I expect about 12-13k.

Basically, mesh modeling is over I have seen several SU-51 on the web, but none of them was good enough Probably, none of the modelers was Russian I promise, as soon the model is textured and animated, it will be shared with the community here I just want to finish it first, but if smbd wants it right now - feel free to ask

  11. No, I think it would work fine, because after you click apply EdgeSplit simply splits the mesh. In other words, it duplicates points on the boundary and creates two meshes. As a result, since two part of the mesh are not connected anymore, the smoothing works separately on them, that creates sharp edge. Aslo, I am gonna use BGE for a while, so it is a Blender related application
  12. Try to use smooth and EdgeSplit modificator. Mark edges that you want to be sharp with Ctrl+E . It helps! You check how it worked with my Sv-51 And do smth with material of your YF-19. It certainly does not look like metallic, more plastic I would say

I did a lot of stuff, even started doing 3d modeling! To all who is interested in the project After thorough research and a lot of doubts I have decided to use Blender Game Engine for the project. This is what I am planning to do first (it is not mine, just example) And info on the engine Blender Game Engine Description As for the game, I think I have a concept that is totally different from games like Robotech: Battle Cry and VOXP, and all that. My ultimate goal is to implement the kind of godfighting we witnessed in Macross Zero Video . I really don't want to do another clone of R:BT and VOXP.

  19. Did anyone see transformable bikes from blassreiter series? I cannot get pics, but I really liked the design Also, I like bikes battles there. I would not mind if it was MOSPEADA 2))
  20. Shun I totally agree with these people. It is not my fault that they showed me Robotech first when I was about 7-8 years old. I just watched mechas and didn't pay much attention to the story. I was born in USSR. Have you heard of it? A lot of thing were forbidden there like rock music and foreign movies. So, Robotech was one of the first foreign cartoons we wacthed as kids. And I am really greatful to Masik because we kids had 3 times more mechas than we would if they showed us Macross only without MOSPEADA and Souther Cross. That's good! I have one observation - Robotech fans behave very politely towards macross fans. Macross fans bahave like religious fanatics towards Robotech fans. This is really ridiculous because 1) I am sure that most of fans here are above 20 years old at least, so such kind of behaviors looks very much childish or kindergarder-like. 2) Macross is not religion - it was created for only one goal: profit = money. If you think differently - you are very naive.

  22. Hi all! This is nice thread! I am planning do modeling of VF-4 lightning III soon, so does anyone have pics or schemes or better movies, explaining the transformation sequence? I looked through the thread, Fan Works, and already picked up some pics, but it is not enough for complete understanding. Thanks!

This is how in mind my an ultimate ride armor (prototype) should look like )) It should have chest rockets from Yellow Belmont ride armor, arm grenade launchers from Stick RA, and a gun from Houquet RA (I will add it when it is released). The creators of the anime made 4-5 types of ride armors simply to sell us 4-5 times more toys, I think this is quite obvious. The similar thing is with VF-1S/A/J/D - to me they all are the same. I just bought VF-1S only, and I am happy with it))
