  1. Hmm, I'm not really sure about the numbers on the Mr. Hard Hat to begin with, but I'm betting not high. I've seen a few of the individual Four Star Constructicon bootlegs on eBay in parts lots a few times, but the head I bought was the first time I saw that available on eBay and I've never seen the giftset itself for sale. I wonder if the head comes with whatever part of Devastator normally has the head?
  2. Is that height with or without the wings on Unicron?
  3. Hey, hey, guys, please take the hate to another thread. This is about a goofy bootleg Valkyrie head, not anyone's modelling prowess.
  4. You know, honestly, the way 80's bootleg toys go, the red Valkyrie head is probably a lot LESS common than an actual VF-1S head, especially when you consider how many Jetfires exist in the world.
  5. So I finally got the red 1/55 Valkyrie head from Four Star's really silly Constructicons/Devastator bootleg, and it's definitely the Takatoku mold and not oversized or anything, it's just cast in red plastic. Color scheme matches up perfectly with Jetfire, but looks horrible with the 1/55 Takatoku Miria. (I tried it.) Redheaded Step Valkyrie An interesting bit of Macross toy trivia though, don't you think?
  6. Maybe this is a stupid question, but I never noticed how big the VF-0 was, even when watching all of Macross Zero the night before last. If it's a testbed/prototype for the VF-1, why is it significantly larger? Shouldn't it be the same size?
  7. The smokey cockpit is probably from the VF-1S from Takatoku Super Valkyrie. That's what that particular toy has.
  8. Technically it's four OAVs (Part 1 and 2, and Megazone 23 III episode 1 and 2), but yeah, I already have that. It's the extras I'm interested in.
  9. Is this stuff in a boxset or split up over volumes or what? cdjapan seems to only have individual discs?
  10. Obviously I already have the Image Entertainment and ADV Megazone 23 DVD's, but what's on the ones released in Asia? Besides, you know, the OAVs. What kind of extras are on them? Anything worth buying them for even though I have the US releases already? Is the HK bootleg the same as the Japanese release down to the extras? (The bootleg I'm talking about is the one with the Mikimoto art of Eve like hatching out of an egg?) Is there only one R2 Japanese release or are there mulitple ones with different extras? Anything like that? I know the old LDs had the new Robotech the Movie, is that on any of the DVDs (hopefully the HK one?) And finally, if there's more than one release of the R2 Japanese, which one is this? http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=OKBJ-1021 ? Thanks in advance to any worldly mz23 fans.
  11. In Hayward, CA a month or two ago I saw a car with the license plate MINMEI.
  12. Well, I have no Dremel tool and certainly can't afford anything like that. Oh well. Yeah, I already know when it's done I'm gonna need to totally paint it, which is why I used a yellowed old piece of crap to begin with. This is quite a bit larger than a 1/55... I highly doubt the stickers would work. Maybe I can figure out some way to upscale them? Aside from the nose, almost everything is directly stolen from the 1/55 design-wise so the shape of the stickers should be fine.
  13. I was the one working on making it transformable. It's on my website, Masterforce.org. http://www.masterforce.org Here's the current direct link to it: http://www.pimbrecords.com/mfo/3.0/customvalk.html Also, if you're interested in the big old Valkyrie toy, the Exo-Squad/Robotech reissue is a lot cheaper. Here's my review of that: http://www.pimbrecords.com/mfo/mf4.0/rot31.html And I'm kind of stuck on my project getting the toy to transform, because I can't figure out a way to cut the chest in half. Any one got any suggestions?
  14. Hey, like Macross 7 had a slight nod to Macross II (re-using one of its songs), Macross Zero had one, as well. The song of death/destruction! Immediately made me think of the one in Macross II.
  15. What about Mylene's sister? She was definitely able to 'keep up with Basara'. In fact it was a huge battle to see who could outsing who and it was a very, very close battle. Or are you going to tell us that Max is descended from Mayans too? This is totally raw speculation and you have zero evidence that Ray or Basara are descended from Mayans. It's not suggested or even implied by either Macross 7 or Macross Zero. The only vauge thread you have is that Ray has dark skin. Basara doesn't even have dark skin, just a high spiritia level.
  16. Uh, and how is Mylene able to do the song energy stuff then? Or is it supposed to be her Zentradi/Maltrandi blood? And her sister could do it too... I kind of got the impression that ANYONE could use singing that way if they had high spiritia or whatever.
  17. I was just trying to clear up the misconceptions from Anime Expo. I'm not going to debate whether or not Tatsunoko overstepped their bounds. The fact is that HG did NOT say they were releasing the movie. Just merchandise from the movie. There's a big difference. Are we clear? P.S. You forgot Artland. You know. Ishiguro Noboru's company. The guy who directed SDF Macross. Yeah.
  18. That is not at all what Tom Bateman said. He said IF (BIG IF) the rights to the movie were straightened then it would definitely be dubbed. Not the merchandising rights (which HG owns), but the movie rights. They did NOT say they had the movie rights. They said they had the MERCHANDISING rights. Toys. Models. Mugs. Floor wax. NOT the movie. They absolutely did not say that they would make it into Robotech if they got the rights to the movie. Note that everything HG has released as DYRL has been DYRL and not Robotech at all. I got the convention exclusive Strike Valkyrie. It says Hikaru Ichijo, not Rick Hunter. They didn't say it would be Robotech. I was there. I sat next to Tommy Yune at dinner and talked to him for a couple hours, and we have a video recording of the panel and Q&A outside in the hall right next to me. Wait until we get the right cables and you can see it all yourselves. P.S. He said if the movie got a US release, it would be dubbed, not that the Robotech cast would dub it. There's a difference. Edit to include the word "said" which I forgot in the first sentence.
  19. The reason they used the TV style head is simple: Remolding is expensive. It's same reason the Shadow Fighter Super Poseable has the regular Alpha shoulders. As far as DYRL goes, HG licensed the international merchandising rights from Tatsunoko. As far as the movie itself, it's still in dispute. Once the rightful heir of the rights to the movie itself is determined, HG wants to bring it over and make it available to the US audience. We heard this from Tommy Yune's mouth. This is important for the merchandise, not the movie itself. Toys, models, floor wax, whatever. The big annoucement was NOT supposed to be a US release of DYRL on DVD. Overzealous Macross fans inferred that, when the big annoucement was clearly the new Robotech show. Sorry. P.S. I was standing right there for the whole panel and I was sitting right next to Tommy Yune for dinner. As soon as I find a USB cable, I can upload pics from the panel. Have nice night.
  20. The mecha designs in The Sentinels are by Hirotoshi Ohkura and the AMMONITE group, who you'll recognize as the mecha designers for Southern Cross.
  21. First of all, you shouldn't be allowed to call someone retarded if you can't spell it correctly. Secondly, plenty of people like Gundam that aren't Macross fans or stupid. Guess what? They don't hang out at places full of trolls and morons, like Gundam.com's message board was.
  22. <Remember that HG claim that they have Worldwide (excluding Japan) rights to SDF: Macross, just they refused to give Animegio more than Region 1 rights.> Uh, except that that's not what happened. AnimEigo only bought the rights to region 1 because it was cheaper, not because Harmony Gold wouldn't let them have more.
  23. <In fact, Macek also authored the screenplay for Robotech: The Movie, which he co-produced and co-directed.> Wow. This is blatantly not true. Obviously these people haven't seen the damn movie. It was written by Ardwight Chamberlain, who also wrote the Sentinels video. Chamberlain has also written for Samurai Pizza Cats, Teknoman, Digimon, SD Gundam, and other such westernizations of anime.
  24. What they like like more than anything is the ACs from the Armored Core series of video games, which Kawamori also designed. Almost the exact same designs in a lot of places. The only US use of these designs that I'm aware of is MechWarrior 1 for SNES (not for PC), which has pre-rendered images of them.
  25. I talked to Tommy Yune about a number of other things, too, including the Robotech 2004 series and whenever I asked something he didn't want to answer, the answer was always "wait until AX04". I think the reason for this is not because of any kind of legal funny business, but more like that's when HG has set for official annoucements and they told him he couldn't say more until then. This is probably intended to draw a bigger crowd at their booth at AX04. I think you guys are reading WAY too much into that.
