VF-1 production was delayed for the same reason the VF-0 was using a jet engine. The microfusion drives weren't ready. I assume they built a new plane because they wanted to try some stuff they just couldn't do with the VF-1. ... Or to get a plane that could run on jet engines up in the air for testing purposes.

Presumably because he jacked the 01 in the TV show.

Between mahq.net and macross.anime.net, yopu should be able to get most of what you want.

He also just physically overpowered them, though. Which is a prime example of why they should not, under any circumstances, be given melee weapons. They aren't PHYSICALLY tough enough to go hand-to-hand with an unarmed man of equivalent size. Though the simplest solutions are sometimes the best. The gunpod can be used as a club, the foerarm can be used to strike people, you can punch them with the fist(if you want to risk damaging all those parts in the fingers...), knee them, kick them, tackle them, fire the head laser(hey, this may be an EFFECTIVE move, too!)... There's so much built in already, why add a sharp pointy object? And if you do, why add more parts? A sharp edge on the forearm is the simplest way to add a blade(preferably one of the corners, since there's already a wedge there, even if it's wider than desired). Instead of drawing your sword and swinging it, just smack 'em with your forearm. Not as much leverage, but you've still got a lot of mass behind it. Serrate the edge and it'll do nasty things to flesh(whre it might kinda sort of maybe be useful...). Or sharpen the fingertips and jab 'em into something soft. Beats a knife. Heck, add hooked claws and they might even be useful outside of fistfights with unarmed zentradi. Weapons added: 2. Complexity added: 0. Utility added: .25, because I can see uses for the claws, just not for melee combat.

Zero takes place after the Supervision Army's vessel crashed. The VF-0 was developed more or less concurrently with the VF-1. And the mech size was based on the presence of giant airlocks, doors, and hallways on present on the ASS-1, not actual bodies. And a battroid is a bit less than twice the size of a zentradi. Not the same size. There are no veritechs in Macross. And as I said, the VF-0 is more or less concurrent with the VF-1. It's a limited production vehicle intended more to test new technologies than to replace an existing fighter(that's what the VF-1 was for).

Yes. It HAS to. 3rd law of motion again. The VF-1 didn't use a combustion engine, and therefore didn't need air to operate. The need to breath air(and very large quantities of it) complicates things greatly.
-
Key word there is combustion. It HAS to have a source of oxygen, either internal or external. Well yeah. I worded that clumsily. If it being able to work underwater (or hypothetically, in space) is due to it maybe storing a small amount of oxygen somewhere to keep the engine going... i.e., if it operating underwater (or in a vacuum) is *not* dependent on having oxygen to keep the combustion going, it *still* needs something to push against. Jet engines work by moving air, and the VF-0 was equipped with jet engines, afaik. Okay. The act of combustion WILL generate something going out the back(heck, jsut flooding hte engine with air and letting it leak out would). From there the 3rd law of motion kicks in. The exhaust will push it forward, just not as much as in an atmosphere. You'll move, but probably not fast enough to be very effective. But you'll run out of air fast.

It's only one boss. The level where Kakizaki gets shot down.

I should point out that ePSXecutor is a front-end, NOT an emulator. I ASSUME you are using ePSXe, as that's what the front-end is for. ePSXe has a fatal glitch in DYRL, in that one boss refuses to enter the level. Try using PSXeven. The boss still won't enter initially, but firing a bomb will "awaken" it. ... I hate PS emulators.

The VF-0 is A. a jet. It needs air to run. B. a next-gen testbed. It's too expensive to mass-produce(as if cost ever factored into the VF series...), because they threw every last widget they could think of onto it.

Interesting this thread is popped back up. AiA put episode 34 of the series up recently. It's nice to see the big G back in action.

It's so you can tilt Optimus Prime's head back, push a red button, and go into the Batcave!

You sort of mashed the titles together. There were TWO PCEngine CD games. One was MAcross 2036, the other was MAcross: Eternal Love Song.
-
Educated guess: Not Macross, though it was likely inspired by Macross to some degree. First, the title looks to be "Strategic Variable Fighter Rafaga". The logo doesn't look like it says Macross(I'm going by looks and what little english is floating on the page, as I can't actually read japanese, but the fact that Macross only has 4 characters and the game logo has what looks to be 6 is a dead giveaway). Second: The modes are labelled fighter, spinner, and soldier, as opposed to the beloved fighter, GERWALK, battroid trio we all know. Third: The mech doesn't really look much like a Macross design. For example, doesn't Kawamori usually do something with the wings in battroid mode instead of just leaving them hanging out into midair?

It's unarguably smaller than Pluto last I heard. And people are still raising a fuss occasionally about Pluto being a planetoid. And what is a toy line without the title toy? Actually is not a planet or planetoid, it is the folding system from the Macross! OF COURSE! It's so obvious, how could I miss it?

Macross Plus is hte same story, only one is stretched out a little longer. Which is the better version is personal preference.
-
At it's heart, it's still a Supervision Army vessel. I jut don't see why the Zentradi would have a factory capable of producing enemy vessels, but not their own ships.

You can get virus updates free. They slap them up on their site for all the world to download. http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/download.html

There's at least one more. they ran across it on the way to the factory sattelite.
