  1. On second thought, I should just let Hikaru and Minmay tell you the dimensions.
  2. Apologies for the delay, akim. Without any further ado, the back covers you requested.
  3. This is the best I could come up with from trawling the web. From the pictures, it looks like a liner notes booklet comes with the box and 7 LDs.
  4. Anything originally published in the 80's isn't likely to be in print any longer, but you might still find something in bookstores. (The last printing of the Gold Book I know of was in 1992 with the initial one in 1984.) As for recent stuff that references the original trio and supporting cast, Macross Ace and Macross Chronicles are about it, I believe.
  5. Not unless you sold me everything else in that picture! I actually got all 4 of those books as a set. I'll put up pictures of the backs of the books your requested soon, akim. It's possible that I might have had trouble obtaining the "Blue Wind" book, I tend to use a shotgun approach if it seems rare enough. As for the "Macross Special featured volume 0 " by Art Material, if it contains Flash Back 2012 material, it's probably quite rare indeed. Flash Back 2012 art and material tend to be on the rare side.
  6. I'm trying to figure out where I got the dimensions I listed on the launch thread, but B2 is 515x728 mm or about 20.3x28.7 in, with tolerances of about 2 mm. The inch values are rounded, as the standard uses mm as its base unit. (Wikipedia) Ah, here's another list with paper sizes, which lists the slightly smaller dimensions I listed in Save's Launch Ceremony poster thread. Go with the "JIS B Sizes" with an expectation of about 2 mm in tolerance as stated on the Wikipedia page.
  7. There doesn't appears to be any "Not for Sale" text on my cards, so it's probably still fair game for them to have been retailed. The following are the special CL cards from the standard Brocolli Special Edition set.
  8. Actually, if you really cared for Mikimoto's DYRL artwork, you'd get this book: http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/books/dyrl_movie.htm . It basically contains a facsimile selection of production drawings (settei) that were used as keys for the actual cels in the movie. There's some scene and mecha lineart as well, but it mostly focuses on the main trio with a selection of up-close headshots for each. The Gold Book may be the definitive resource for information, but Macross Settei is definitely the showpiece in terms of character artwork for DYRL. The following is a selection of non-commodities and/or harder-to-find commodities.
  9. The set goes for about 3,000 yen per set on Yahoo! Japan auctions, so about $10 per bottle. It sold at the launch event for 1,500 yen.
  10. Nope, it looks like they were sold at (book)stores during a publicity event (most likely to commemorate the crash landing of the ASS-1, since they were apparently released in 1999). The Macross Compendium seems to have them listed as a "Premium Pack": Macross Premium Pack Trading cards 10 cards Broccoli 1999 January (event-only item) Y476 (each pack) Y500 (eack pack, tax included) It does state a total of ten cards, but, given the naming inaccuracy and puzzle design, nine cards seems probably correct (and a list card doesn't really make much sense for only nine promotional cards.)
  11. They're still there, but you didn't read my post. I made reference to them, stating that, for a majority of users, it's overly cumbersome, especially at 10+ parts for a single file. If you're not worried about initial distribution, that's fine. However, I was making reference to edwin3060's post, making a minor complaint that the current seeder:leecher ratio was 1:400. Nonetheless, how you manage the initial distribution sets the precedent for how everything else works out, as you're pretty much limiting the scope of how many people will actually complete the file(s) by making things hard to get in the first place. (This is why you see many fansub groups thank/credit their "distros" - people who usually have nothing to do with file creation but simply exist to distribute them.) A majority of people won't pay. This may all well happen, but IRC is usually a starting point, not the endpoint. Just making a few suggestions if you really want to reach as many people as possible.
  12. This isn't about Macross fans being "better than that" - at least not yet. You haven't gotten the initial file(s) out to enough people (or anyone), yet. You need to build a distribution network first. What most fansub groups do is transfer the initial files through a direct distribution method (FTP, IRC, etc.) to dedicated members that help seed the files. You haven't done that, and the multi-part RapidShare that boinger put up (too cumbersome, time-consuming, and complicated) and your torrent (too slow as a multi-user initial distribution method) hasn't had time to reach anyone. Put simply, you're basically the only one who has the complete file now; so, of course, no one can help seeding, yet.
  13. You did pick up that new Mac of yours, right? Use Transmission.
  14. It's pretty much what it looks like on the page. Yamato is selling limited merchandise at the 2/22 event on a first come, first serve basis. The keychain flashlights are limited to 700 pieces (1,000 yen each) while the insignia patch set is limited to 100 sets (2,500 yen per set). As for the life-size helmet (Hikaru colors only), you place a order for your head size in person.
  15. I suppose I can't let Totoro242 have all the fun, so I'll start it off with something that's fairly uncommon. These are the Brocolli Special Edition promotional cards that preceded the release of the 95-card collection, and, unlike the final release, consist of paper stock only.
  16. I think that might be how Save found out about this, since I noticed a few of them on auction at Yahoo! Japan and inquired him for more info. I ended up doing some hunting on my own and there seem to be nine coasters in total, three from three different stores. You can probably contact Save about acquiring them, but it'd seem difficult and expensive to get them all.
  17. Before you guys get bent out of shape about which coffee Minmay drinks, "ice cafe" is actually pretty much just milk and flavored chunks of ice (which is actually what the drink looks like): http://www.chu-rei.co.jp/icecafe.html. Search for "氷カフェ" in Google and you'll get a bunch of the same.
  18. Since this seems to be the thread for assorted items, I thought I'd post about these launch drink coasters here. The three restaurants/cafes/bars participating in the launch ceremony activities are offering assorted coasters with purchase of appropriate Macross-related food or drink item, with three different ones per store it seems. Queen Dolce has Alto, Michel, and Hikaru. Cure Maid Cafe has Minmay, Sheryl, and Klan (micronized). Akiba Kaigan has Ranka, Klan (macronized), and Roy. A little odd that they chose Roy over Misa, instead of completing the triangle - unless there are actually more than three versions per store, though I haven't seen anything different as of yet.
  19. Those would be "Xiaolongbao." It's actually written using Chinese, as described in the Wikipedia link ("Traditional Chinese"): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xiaolongbao
  20. It's actually named the familiar "My Boyfriend Is a Pilot." The site seems to be working globally again, since Save did include pictures of the items he listed (directly from the website) in his post, and I can see them now as well as the full website.
  21. I think the Cure Maid Cafe restricts web access to Japanese IPs only, so for those outside Japan, copy the link http://www.curemaid.jp/index.php?page_id=669 and paste it here: http://www.ijapan.org/red/ .
  22. Pictures for you. The back of each page has assorted (character) line art, as the first page mentions ("Establish Materials").
  23. Something like this is what you're looking for, I believe? http://www.ukexhibition.co.uk/acatalog/Fre...ter_frames.html
  24. I can't help but have a feeling that I've seen the artwork for the Super Dimension heroine poster before, lynn2009. It was probably while browsing auctions, but I'd agree that it's "a super-rarity!" Totoro242, do you have the 1984 calender as well?
  25. Actually, by my calculation, Celga would be cheaper. $12 overhead ($10 Commission, $2 wire transfer) combined with free shipping within Japan from Amazon, and you would be able to choose from various shipping EMS, SAL, etc. Even at their 83 yen to $1 ratio it's cheaper than buying at HLJ's list prices with Amazon.co.jp's 48% off the original item price.
