  1. I gotta say, as a huge Aliens fan...this sounds pretty skinky. The original Aliens vs. Predator comic series was just right I thought. Why not go with that? Even the Aliens books (which I didn't even like that much) would have made a much better, more "Aliens" feeling movie. I won't knock it too hard before I have seen it, but from what I have heard so far it ain't going to live up to my expectations.
  2. Oh, so you're saying that instead of going through all the trouble of repainting an aircraft, instead they simply designed, constructed, and painted an entirely new, unique two-seat cockpit/nose section that would mate with a -1J. Well now, that does seem sensible.
  3. The airfoil between the wings is only common on German aircraft during WWI, which this plane clearly is not. The wings are nowhere near too close, if you can find another aerodynamic reason for this biplane to have inverted gull-wings, you let me know. I'll tell you why the designer didn't use a real-world aircraft. This one looks cooler. Period.
  4. The Arado sure does't convince me...if you even want to call that an inverted gull-wing (seems most of the gull shape comes from the wingroot structure). I know my German stuff pretty well. I haven't seen everything, but there aren't a whole lot of aircraft I haven't at least seen a picture of. Just because you find a picture of a German aircraft with some subtle version of inverted gull wings DOES NOT mean Harlocks aircraft is real. There are still too many inconsistancies for any rational person to assert that they "firmly believe that Harlocks Arcadia Biplane is a real world design." I am trying to be helpful, but why would you all of a sudden be so sure? I'm not saying this plane couldn't possibly exist, but you sound convinced it is...based on some pretty shoddy evidence (and against the testimony of some fairly well-educated aircraft buffs) Just curious. Good luck finding it.
  5. But that is just where you are wrong. The line art I posted, the Hasegawa instructions/kit, and everything else points inextricably to this conclusion.
  6. Robotech - Mospeada Scout/Armored Scout - Iigaa Trooper/Shock Trooper - Gurab Pincer Command Unit - Gamo Royal Command Battloid - Gosu
  7. In Mospeada it is refered to as a Gamo. And no, I have never heard of it being marketed in any form, garage kit or otherwise. You are not alone in your desire for this (or other) Invid/Inbit, I would kill for one of these as well, and have wanted a 1/72 Pincer/Gamo for years.
  8. I think it is accepted that Hasegawa VF's are the most accurate representations, so... Take a Hasegawa VF-1J and build it up leaving the forward fuselage/nose. Now take a Hasegawa VF-1D forward fuselage/nose and try to mate it to your VF-1J. If this works then your theory of "interchangablility" will gain some support. The only problem is it won't work, due to the main fuselage of the VF-1D being designed differenly to accomodate the larger cockpit. So, seems like it would be infinitely easier to paint a VF-1D airframe than to rip off its nose, connect it to a VF-1J, then modify the fuselage and spine. Aircraft get total repaints all the time for special occasions: Tigermeet, anneversiary, commemoration, etc.
  9. Well, I know my planes fairly well, and I don't recognize that. It has elements from various interwar craft, but if a gun was to my head I would say it is a fantasy creation. - The lower wing is distinctive, and would be recognizable if it were real - The interwing struts are placed too far inboard (I don't look at interwar biplanes too often, so I could be wrong here...but it "looks" wrong) - It has an aerofoil between the main gear (which was almost exclusive to WWI German aircraft, and was quite uncommon after the war) Now I could be wrong, because someone always knows more than you, but even if it is "real" it would be pretty obscure. I like the look gull-wings on bi-planes too(tried to build a fictional schnieder-cup racer with 'em).
  10. On another note, while disappointed about the "Alpha" delay, I do quite enjoy the alpha morphers. Although they look ass-y in armo-fighter, I really like the armo-soldier sculpt. Has anyone taken a knife to one to see if a somewhat accurate fighter can be made (shortening transformed legs and arms)? I am temped, but I only have one...
  11. I actually don't see much evidence of Macross loosing steam recently...quite the opposite: Yamato 1/60 Yamato 1/48 Bandai re-releases Hasegawa 1/72 Macross Zero Sega Macross game (development) Macross DVD quite a few products are keeping Macross very much alive in Japan it seems. Robotech has its stuff as well, and until relatively recently I think I might have agreed...but as it is now I think it would be fairly hard to convincingly argue that Macross is on the "decline." I would agree that Robotech has been building steam recently.
  12. I think I read this on Lebhead's site (or maybe Twin Moons)... Has this really been confirmed by Toynami? I have never been much of a VF-1 fan, but I'll buy Tread's left and right (if they don't totally suck, that is). If they indeed are comming out with "Betas," I just might spring for two "Alphas." This might seriously the coolest new-toy news since the Kaiyodo Eva-05...scratch that, this is cooler than that because you could already get a Sega or Bandai Eva-05. Anybody know if this is true or fanboys spreading hopeful rumors?
  13. Nice. As a fan of SD stuff, we could use more "non-VF" art. Glad you posted it.
  14. He sure as hell doesn't look Japanese to me... But they can do amazing stuff with makeup/prosthetics, or maybe they are gonna change the setting to Europe? Unlike most of the fans, I don't care too much if they change the setting. The real heart and soul of Evangelion are the characters, story and convoluted storyline, not the particular setting. If placing the events in Europe/America will bring more people into the theaters (both spreading appreciation for NGE, and allowing for a more liberal budget) than so be it. but that's just me. After seeing "Whale Rider" I have new found hope for young actors. If they can get a young cast with 1/2 the chops of the girl in that movie there will be little to worry about.
  15. *respect for MW takes a header* On a side note: when you do finish your costume, Cosplaygirl, post a photo or two here so we can see your take (although with the preponderence of immature comments, I can see how you might decide not to).
  16. I've always liked the upper portion of the mecha...but when I get down to the legs they disappoint. I don't know how many times I've been tempted to by an LED Mirage, only to remember what a lost cause it's legs and feet are. I do, however, want to start reading the manga. But with so many issues and around $10 each I don't know if I can afford it yet.
  17. Come to think of it I notice the nose-mod now. I didn't see it at first becasue I did the same thing to mine as soon as I got it and had forgotten it didn't come that way...
  18. I just use paint shop. I'm pretty stone age when it comes to computer "art."
  19. Bandai 1/144 Vf-11 Where are the landing gear though?
  20. Well, I know that Mospeada isn't exactly macross...but I figured it was close enough to post here. If not I guess this will find itself "modded" to the appropriate forum soon enough. Again a disclaimer: I am no artist. Never have claimed to be. But I colored in this scan from Artmic (generously provided by a fellow MWer), and enjoy it as my wallpaper so much that I decided to share it. Maybe someone else here is a fan of the Mospeada "bad guys" as much as I am. ps- my .bmp file looks crisper, but I have to use a .jpg, too bad.
  21. Ok, I am so stuck right now I might as well ask advice here (the "real" AC boards seem so infantile compared to MW I wouldn't even attempt to post there). I am finding it impossible to get the arm laser rifle on the "Defend Lawdas Factory." I have read FAQs, I spend hours today trying out every AC/weapon combo I could think of. Still haven't even come close. I can beat the mission OK, but with nowhere near 50% AP. Or I can use the resupply vehicles and finish with high AP, but this disqualifies you from winning the part. I have started to use high agility missiles on this mission, and they seem to work OK...but I can't manage to avoid getting blasted once or twice by the space cannon in the insanly long barrage. Does anyone have any helpful advice, or hints? I have 98% complete, and have acquired all the other secret parts. I don't know why this one is so hard for me.
  22. edit: Just me babbling in bewilderment at this kind of behavior from an adult. Nothing you wanted to read.
