It was good. I don't want to say really good because nostalgia is influencing my view. There was a couple did they forget those moments? I think they're ignoring stuff from the previous seasons.

A bunch of Easter Eggs and it ends with us finding out what the stolen secret weapon is.🙄

I agree it was enjoyable. While I've actually enjoyed this season so far (a trait sorely lacking in previous seasons), I wouldn't put it on the same level as DS9 or the best of TNG. Then again those shows have 20+ years at their backs, so expecting any series to immediately reach the same level as them is asking a bit much.

And yeah, there's the nostalgia factor. It can easily detract if they go overboard, but I'm willing to cut a little slack if this is going to be the TNG cast's swan song. I'd prefer this over Nemesis being the last we see of this crew.

Still, four more episodes is plenty of time for them to completely f*** it up.

Like so many of the design and texture choices in Frontier though, it feels as though Bandai stayed true to things being dorked up by the animators in the first place.  Aesthetically?  A whole bunch of things they did make no sense, and the only excuse I can find is "Oh.. the animators did that... I guess we should too."

The "NO STEP" markings on the underside of wings is very likely the same thing.  Does it make sense for that to be printed in zero-g environments?  Sure.. except that if you're floating, you don't have to "step" on anything.  I've always thought that excuse only exists to cover the fact that the animators mirrored the textures on top and bottom of the wings.

In the case of the 25G, it's simply accurate to the show. There is no evidence to suggest this was a screw-up rather than an intentional design choice, as it appears like this consistently throughout the anime. Whereas the 25F is missing it's red and black paint on the head in the first episode, though one could simply say that that was Gilliam's 25F and Alto's is a different color variant.

You don't have to like it, but in this instance there really is no one to blame except maybe Kawamori for the choice of colors.

  3. I'm pleased to see the VF-25s being reissued with improvements, but for me it means more landing gears that need to be painted...

Definitely going to grab one of these.. fingers crossed I don't get screwed twice and have the crotch plate missing on both releases.

That's actually part of why I was glad I picked up the YF-25.. the blue was a close enough match to look good on Michael's original release.  Personally.. I think it even looks better, due to having the colors flipped.  Michael's valk always had a few weird color choices that stood out in a bad way, like the bottom of the nose being blue with white gear doors, for some reason... when the original v.1 VF-25 actually had the full underside matching somehow?

That's how it appears in the anime.

Yes sir. I was actually inspecting on how to switch heads with Minmay/Sheryl Cos-Cross figure. It's the reason why I bought it. Tekering told me before how to do it but I haven't done it yet.

    Here's @tekering's Minmay:

I won't do that to mine because Ranka > Minmay ;)

Also I'll just wait for the Arcadia version.

I recently got in a 2nd copy of the VF100 Armored VF-25F, to have it as a display piece in Fighter. This would be the first time I'm handling a VF-25 Armored in Fighter of any scale, as I've skipped on the 1/60 versions.

Up till not long ago, I always thought Fighter form didn't suit the 25 Armored, as it looked too bulky and somehow interrupted too much of the base 25's sleek curvy lines. But once I have its actual form in my hands, it didn't appear as ungainly as I remembered in the images and actually looks pretty good. I think this change in perception is due to the VF-31 Armored that we are seeing more of recently, which look like an absolute flying brick in comparison and somehow I've been conflating both the 25 and 31 Armored forms together. :p

As to the toy itself, I went in thinking Fighter would be more a pleasure to handle than Battroid, but how wrong I was. Battroid had noodle legs, but at least the pieces plugged in accurately and stayed on reasonably tight. In Fighter, the shoulder missile pods pop off with ever the slightest nudge, and the legs always appear to feel that they can be tucked up higher, but they don't stay and hangs down slightly. Still, these issues are not really out of expectations after already going through reviews.

Pretty happy with both purely as display pieces in the collection.

Oh snap that's a VF100? At first I thought it was the DX before I read your post. Sweet shots!

People are joking, but that "much deeper" shade of blue IS an absolute deal-killer, at least for me.

It's like history repeating itself for the third time.   From Yamato to Arcadia to Bandai.  Show something that looks pale/slate/desaturated blue as a sample, then make it way more blue at the last minute, so that it looks nothing like the show.

I just want SOMEBODY to make a VF-0D in a dull shade of blue.  My "acceptable range" is pretty wide at this point, from original Yamato sample to HMR sample----but every actual release has been way too rich.

I sympathize with your plight, but at this point I'm afraid the only way you're going to get the blue you want is to buy a model kit and paint it yourself. Or repaint the HMR to the blue you want. Bandai cheaps out on the markings anyway so it's not like you'll have to find a bunch of replacement decals for it. ;)
