  1. I usually don´t play with my valks , I just hear to what they say to me , you know , the usual things like : You gotta kill them all...buy more Yammies...those pills aren´t harmful , they´ll make you happy...:blink:

    Just kidding

I don´t have much of a collection , just a small selection of those valks I love the most (Super 1J , VF-11 , some bits and pieces ...) so I can´t say I´m able to stage mock battles , even if I wanted to.

I occasionally change my valks from one Mode to another (except for my unbroken VF-11) and pose them in some neat pose.

  2. Um... VF-22.

VF-19 "cannon fodders" with older VF-22 Spec Ops and the new next gen valkyrie that will replace the VF-22. :)

Though I'm liking to hypothesize about UN Spacy getting in a budget crunch and deciding to make a single engine less flashy version of VF-22 ala JSF vs F-22 and using THAT to replace the VF-19... all due to budget concerns. ;)

I meant this thread to be restricted to those valkyries that have not been featured in a Macross animation production.

the VF-22 or VF-19 were featured already in M7.

  3. I'd like to see a new series set sometime post-FB2012, with the main character starting off flying a VF-4 and then halfway or two thirds of the way through the series, transitioning to the newer VF-5000.

    Graham

That seems like the logical step.

Remember that the main fighter may also be changed during the anime (kinda like the VF-11 to YF-19 in Macross Plus OVAs) , so we might start with a VF-5000 and then pass to the VF-14 or whatever Kawamori wants.

I belive there´s a big enough void in the timeline after SDF Macross and before Macross Plus to let it be ignored , it would really be a waste of time not to publish something related to the events during this times. The main valkyrie plays such a big role in a macross show that if Kawamori goes with this period of time for the next series it would be frustrating to have a new fighter and not one of these valkyries , in the other hand if he sets the next Macross after 2050 then it would apply to have something new but it would be repetitive to some extent.

  4. I was thinking it would be interesting to start a thread so to have an idea of which never-before featured valkyrie would make the best main character´s variable fighter for the next series (if there´s one of course) after Macross Zero.

I didn´t include the VF-1 or AVFs cause I preffered to put only those valkyries that haven´t seen any action in a Macross animation before. Of course , whichever valk you choose will imply your preference for which decade you think the next Macross series should be set in.

You also have to take into account the fact that the main character doesn´t need to get the best of the best (something that would actually add something to the story).

Specify your reasons for your selection

  5. It's coming, but the YF-19 is one of the most difficult VFs to design a really good, accurate toy of. Those of you who have really thought about this and studied the issue will know what I mean. The groin/front landing gear area and back of the legs/shoulder areas are real challenges. Pictures will be released as soon as Yamato is happy with the design. I trust you all want a good toy, so just be patient. Give them time to get it right rather than rush the design.

Of course something like the Q-Rau which does not transform and is a much simpler design will be finished quicker.

    Graham

well at least that confirms they´re still working on the YF-19 and it hasn´t been thrown to the bin already.

For someone that has lost all interest in the VF-1 line(s) I´m reaching a point where I would kill for something new ...well , that gives me time to save for some other things like the Escaflowne and some prestos. who knows , as long as I get the opportunity to buy a high quality reproduction of the YF-19 , the VF-0D Shin variant and the GBP-0 then I´ll die happy

  6. Try the gimp(spl?). Its a free software said to be "similar" to Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop.

    Here is the link

    www.gimp.org/

thanks , it seems to be a nice little piece of software , I´ll try to add my own scheme in the future

  7. You really don´t realise the mess you´re getting into , do you ?:p

You can now officially say goodbye to healthy food , social life , and normal sleeping hours as well as a stable financial status mate  ....you think I´m joking right ? hahahahahaha , you bet ;)

Welcome to MW , the place where nitpicking is a profitable hobby/profession that goes 24/7 <_<

  8. Wooohooo , mate do I love that valk , is so freaking nice to look at B))

Thanks for starting this thread , I guess no many people pay atention to non-VF-1 valks but I hope this thread picks up cause the 5000 is just awesome

Any (good) free program I may use to add my own work here ?

  9. Yeah , I´m getting bored of waiting , I haven´t bought any Yamato for quite a few months because I´m waiting for the YF-19 :( ; I can´t see why would they keep its development so secret when in fact it was announced even before the Q-Rau and we´ve already seen pics of it , why don´t they show/tell us something already ??? I´m trully desperate.

It would really be aweful if they decide to cancel the project because of difficulties in the engineering process :( ...particularly when the other two M+ toys have been released already (in a rather unexpectedly poor effort in comparison to what´s been promised with the YF-19 ). I don´t want to elaborate in the prospects but maybe Yamato is realising that the investment they´re puting in the 1/72 YF-19 is not worth the effort and they might simply do the same as with the other 2 toys and release the same @(/&%$· :o

I hope not since I´ve been waiting far too long for this baby :)

  10. i didn't notice the big hands first time i've seen the picture.

With colours, it's even bigger. Are the 1/60 hands usually THAT big?

No, the 1/60's hands are not that big. Those are obviously new hands created just for the GBP. The normal 1/60 hands are not "rounded" nor do they come with two closed fists (just one).

Actually the new 1/48 VF-1J seems to have the same kind of hands , I´m inclined to believe Yamato (as in the past ) just put some spare hands into that GBP for that specific event .

  11. The AFOS had nothing to do with genetic altering, it's purely mecha (bio-mecha or otherwise). While it does appear to be a failsafe, most likely it's so in the effect that humans turned out to be "too" destructive, who knows.

Unless you´ve seen the entire OVA series already , I don´t know how you can say with such confidence that the AFOS was not involved in the genetic alteration of humans. there´s no doubt it was the Protculture who controled all this process but I seriously doubt they altered our genetic structure with their bare hands , they had to use some artifact , and as we can see in the OVA there´s a clear refference/image of the bird-people (probably some AFOSs ) with the two ¨coiled up snakes¨ (i.e. DNA ) connected to their tails and to a human figure. ;)

To the people who say there were only seven protodeviln (and yes, this IS the correct spelling, I before L, hence "DEVIL", and thus "EVIL").... True, but that doesn't mean that there were only seven Evil units. There could have been more that didn't get posessed and the possibility is there that the AIPHOS or AIFOS or whatever is one of those. Just the same as how I used to think (and still do, actually) that the Natter-Valgo was just a Valgo-type Evil series unit which the Protodeviln used for a bit in The Galaxy is Calling Me. It wasn't possessed.

Actually ,it is specified that there were only 7 Evil prototypes , that eventually were possesed by Protodeviln , so no there aren´t any other Evil prototypes left. Besides , in Ep.2 of M0 it was shown that the AFOS didn´t posses any sort of superdimensional organ , just a space/time folding system (like the ASS-1).

now , here´s the real questions stablished in M0 ... If the protoculture left this wrecked AFOS in earth , who would´ve attacked it ? why wouldn´t the protoculture take it away with them on their way out of earth ? and why does it appear hostile towards the natives ? I don´t know about you but I think it´s fairly obvious that there was some sort of conflict that we don´t know about ...yet.

  12. its says xvid, u need xvid codec, u have it? its different from divx

yeah , I have it , my problem is that there´s no player that can recognise the format the files are in , they´re supposed to be Xvid but they also have a .ogm extention and whenever I try to play one of the files it gives me a ¨unkown format¨ message.

    Should I re-name them ? I don´t think that would help though.

  13. Hi guys , I´m having problems watching some Rahxephon fansubs I had , well I supposedly downloaded Eps 1-6 , after the torrent archive was fully downloaded I tried to watch the first file , but the extentions are kind of wierd , I have 7 files , six of which have the same extention as this one: a-l.rahxephon.01.xvid.ogm and the last one has a .sfv extention.

no player seems to work with any of the files , I have all the newest codecs , I tried with BSplayer , DivX player , etc... I don´t what to do :(

I know this may not be supposed to be posted here but I ask the Mods that as soon as someone solves this problem they delete this thread.

  14. I´ll try to give my opinion on as many things as possible :

Can someone tell me how the heck Zion generates power when the machines needed humans to generate power? Does Zion know something that the machines don't?

I believe the most probable explanation to this is the fact that humans are closer to the core of the planet hence at reach of huge sources of thermal energy which in turn can be turned into electricity. From then on humans can do pretty much whatever they like with the only problem that they lack natural resources.

if the machines allowed all their batteries to go free, where the heck are they going to get power?

The machines only said they would free those who want to be freed and since all of those who are connected to the Matrix are pretty much unaware of their situation they will never be given the chance to be unpluged, so unless someone convinces them of the reality they won´t even know they´re on the Matrix , and given the fact that almost every chance the people of Zion had to connect to the Matrix was destroyed in the last stand I doubt they´ll free ¨everyone¨.

And even if they did , wouldn´t they have some sort of advanced fusion energy generator by now ? if they have all that infrastructure I assume the machines are pretty capable of being independant from their bio-batteries ; this may sound lame but I think they just mantained the matrix as a way of keeping humans under control and saving resources , of course they could´ve killed all humans , but for that they would´ve had to reach Zion first , which they eventually did...numerous times...

What the heck was goin on there, those techies in the command center were dressed and equipped better then anybody else in the whole of Zion.

mmmm , I thought it was pretty clear that they were inside some sort of virtual control room , like one of those trainning simulators they had onboard the ships , otherwise how would they have that level of illumination within a room while Zion itself was a rotting black hole?

And if the trainman who created the train station to link the machine world to the matrix is able to be god at the train station that he created and smite Neo if he wanted to. Why can't the Machine god/Architect who created the matrix smite both Neo and Smith to get rid of the problem instead of relying on Neo to do it?

Because Neo and Smith grew beyond the controls of the Matrix , and the train station wasn´t exactly the Matrix , it was like the limbo , where Smith/Neo´s powers were irrelevant. The ¨ONE¨ was ¨designed¨ to be like a catalyst so the Matrix could upgrade itself to be less prone to let people percieve they were plugged to it , so Neo´s powers only had an effect within the Matrix and towards the Machines, this is suppossed to be a never ending cycle hence the existence of the past ¨ONEs¨ and the repetitive destruction of Zion.

The machines REALLY have no need for humans... especially since it was shown that the sun still shines and the IDIOT machines didn't think to build solar collectors above the cloud cover. I think that they're sincere in seeing that while they could kill off humanity at will(as stated by the architect and oracle), they will not because The Source and Neo made an agreement and because of the fact stated above.

No they don´t need humans at all but they can´t get through the clouded skies either because they would attrack a lot of lighting, you need to watch carefully the scene where Neo and Trin get through the clouds as they shot down the power of their ship while all the Sentinels fall like dead pigeons.

The Christ analogies in the matrix are fairly obvious, but martyrdom isn't exclusive to Christianity. Keep that in mind. However, there are other ties to the bible simply because it is ingrained in Western Culture.

Actually , the whole scene where Neo´s corpse is taken by the Machines is really a mix refference of Christ (all the self sacrifice and fisical wounds contrasting all his super powers ) and King Arthur who was taken by the maidens to Avalon where he would rest and heal until war started again, this can be understood by analysing the open ending of the film itself. at least that made sense to me.

  15. Quick review. Good and entertaining enough of a movie. Good action, decent pacing, some great, great scenes... ones that I didn't expect to be good. Not so over the top like the second. A good thing. Solid enough.

Still, really, really dissapointed in some respects. The third movie didn't address many of the important questions brought up in the second, and lots of characters introduced in Reloaded and a few introduced in Revolutions didn't really matter a hell of beans in hindsight. They were totally inconsequential, and didn't fit together in some master plan. Too many things left unaddressed and too much vagueness to clear up most of the "whoa" questions in the second that you wanted answered. They just didn't deal with them at all... which makes the second movie mostly frivolous. No astounding mind screws. I wanted at least a few of those. You know... like the first movie.

    -Al

I think you read my mind mate

  16. Finally saw it last night , I´ve gotta say , it was definitively a more decent sequel to The Matrix than Reloaded was , at least the directors didn´t waste time in nonsense. This movie has tons of memorable scenes which really reminds me of the original film , though I don´t think they´re as revolutionary as the first film (It wouldn´t make sense if they didn´t continue with the same style , if you know what I mean :) ).

It definitively didn´t go in-depth with all the concepts and the closure was a bit on the open-ended -though, certainly expected- side as it didn´t give you the same ¨awe effect¨ the first film seemed to have in terms of plot , but at end you realise that Reloaded was just a waste of time with the sole exception of the Architect scene , I mean , there was absolute no relevance to certain characters (persephone anyone ?).

    A good quality movie ;)

  17. well , if they do then I frankly don´t see what was the whole point of having a 1/60 line ; if they eventually release every 1/60 toy in 1/48 scale then I hope they don´t make the same (intentional?) mistake of producing lesser/crappier lines for other series such as M0 (M+ toys are already out in 1/72 so it´s a bit late to mention them).

  18. Frankly, I love the VF-1 design.  The thing is that I like buying alot of the cool ones I like. I plan on making some dioramas or build a Prometheous deck.  I like to build a 1/48 SDF-1 for my 1/48s yammies but that will be a bitch to work on. And also, I suck at painting and scuplting.  maybe I will just build the Armour series ships.

Precisely ! the VF-1 is the icon of the Macross franchise and the most memorable valk in all the continuity without a doubt but reagardless of that I think one VF-1 toy is enough for me , in fact , one toy of each valk is enogh for me; I was also deprived (as many of us) of Macross toys as a child but I don´t feel the urge to buy every single VF-1 toy available in the market , If I´m gonna invest in a VF-1 toy I want the definitive VF-1 toy , I don´t see the point of having more than one. :)

I hope we recieve news of the new re-sculpted YF-19FP soon as well as the M0 line.

  19. VF-1A Kakizaki (DYRL)-very doubtful-

    VF-1J Max w/ FAST packs

    VF-1J Miria w/ FAST packs

    VF-1D

    VF-1A/D Angel Birds-unlikely-

    VF-1D Virgin Road-very unlikely-

I never claimed they were all likely, I was merely trying to cover all the possible routes Yamato could take with the 1/48 VF-1 line if they wanted to. Honestly, I think the VF-1D might be pretty unlikely due to design constraints, but you never know. I also think that Yamato will be taking into account the fact that many customers may pass on the 1/60 GBP in the hopes of the eventual release of a 1/48 version. Many customers would want both, many will get the 1/60 because they want a GBP in any scale, many will probably wait (at least I feel this theory applies to customers outside of Japan/Hong Kong).

I know , I never said you were , I was just expressing my view on the feasibility of some of the toys posted.

I sincerely don´t care about the VF-1 anymore , in fact it´s been months since I last bought a Yamato toy (1/72 re-releases were pretty much the same old toys , 1/48 and 1/60 lines limited to VF-1 variants ) , and I feel that´s something possitive as I don´t feel the urge to go bankrupt solely for the sake of having multiple toys of the same design , if anything the only toy worth buying from the 1/48 line is the Low-vis for the sake of variety but anything beyond that is not of my interest. I hope Yamato cpontinues to supply customers with more VF-1s if they can but at this point I´m just waiting for new stuff.

I praise all of those who keep buying VF-1s , I wouldn´t be able to sustain that level of patience myself :)

Maybe 6 months isn´t that accurate but I doubt we´ll have any further VF-1 releases for another year.

  21. Well, I can't 100% confirm it until I actually have one in my hands. However, I am prepared to say I am 99.99% sure that the reissue VF-1S Focker and VF-1A Hikaru will have all the improvements.

And what makes you so sure we are at the end of the VF-1 line eh? B))

    Graham

Thanks Graham , even if it´s not official I´m happy to know you´re almost sure that the re-issues will be improved. :)

In regards to my comment about the VF-1 line coming to an end , I think it´s fairly safe to say that there´re not enough variants left for the VF-1 line to continue for another 6 months if Yamato is confident enough to produce every single VF-1 in 1/48 ( whatever happened to ¨limited collectors item¨). B))

  22. Well , I´m planning on going to see Revolutions tomorrow too. I´m hoping this time they put more effort into the story rather than the ¨coolness¨ of the franchise as I felt a bit empty after reloaded although it was fantastic. I trust the directors not to screw up such a beautiful saga.

It´s been a long time since ¨The Matrix¨ made its mark on the industry , jesus I´m getting old :(

  23. that´s scarry mate , don´t ever tell that story again

    back on topic :

Graham , can you confirm if the 1/48 re-issues will feature the same improvements seen in the later models (like the Hikaru 1S and Low-viz) ? that would be much appreciated , thanks.

I´m just happey we´re finally reaching the end of the VF-1 line and that new valks are coming our way.
