Indeed , it wouldn´t be a direct Gundam rip-off , but considering the fact that Gundam has worn the concept out , to the point where it currently presents no attractiveness to anyone , specially in Japan where people have survived through years of Gundam. I Like that idea a lot , I think something more adequate would be something along the lines of corruption within the UN Spacy as seen in Macross 7 Trash with a connection to rebel Zentran/meltran/Supervision Army forces through which the secrets unveiled during M0 are revealed to the population. Wouldn´t that just be MII all over again ?

Hey Graham , what a coincidence my very first Macross product was the Imai 1/100 Armored valkyrie as well ! then I bought the Arii 1/72 Armored VF-1A as well as a Gerwalk VF-1A kit which I don´t remeber it´s manufacturer, that was a few years later though , around 86 if I remeber well (don´t wuaote me on this I don´t have a good memory). after that I wasn´t able to find anyonther Macross product until Yamato came uo with the M+ toys and I bought a VF-11B.

I´m proaly post some of the pics I foun in the fanart section to see if some of the masters here can do wallpapers of them (their very high defenetion scans ). I don´t have a webspace where to save the pics and I have the link in my home PC (am in the beach now enjoying the sun now ) so I couldn´t post the link directly , I only have a few that I sent to my email account before leaving home. Thanks Monkey-N for the transaltion , your help is much appreciated , I found it very funny indeed , it seems Mikimoto has a obsession on drawing Kawamori in funny situations. I think the pic is mostly reffering to the fact that after the TV series KAwamori lost all interest in continuing the Macross franchise (until he was ¨forced¨ to do Macross + - it wasn´t supposed to be a macross project-).

Unless that's a shadow under comic Kawamori's nose that sure looks like a mustache. It´s certainly a shadow , it seems Mikimoto (who I pressume is the author of this pic) made Kawamori with a BIG nose. unfortunately I couldn´t find a better pic , in fact this is the only version I have of this illustration but I´m 88% sure that´s Kawamori. I would like to know what´s happening in that pic , why dp the bridge bunnies want to beat Kawamori ? and why is Max so embarrassed ? WTH is going on with the 1S head unit BTW ?

Well , it´s been a wonderful day , today I´ve found more Macross images than in the whole year , but the reason I made this topic is to discuss the following pic: I´m sure you´re thinking the same as me at this moment...nooo , I´m not talking about Hikaru´s decapitated 1S <_< (it´s hikaru I´mm sure , it´s has red spots not Roy´s yellow ones ) I mean that guy with the white shirt next to Minmay , I think it might be the man himself , yes I think is Kawamori-sama !!! You totally got me wrong. I didn´t mean low in regards to the Gundam franchise but rather copying other series , be it undeniable classics like Gundam (though , lately , too repetitive for my liking) or other not so popular series for the sake of filling those gaps where creativity couldn´t reach. in short terms , I wouldn´t want to see Macross resorting in such tricks as copying/following other anime series trends when it has survided by itself for 20 years. No , it was quite old already , by quite a few thousands years , but it didn´t become incredebly repetitive and unoriginal until Gundam bought the rights to such kind of plots. I´m still intrigued by the fact that right from the start of Macross Zero´s pre-production the production team revealed that the events of M0 would not be disclosed until 50 years later in the macros timeline, such revelation doesn´t play any relevant role in the development of M0 itself (unless it was just a curiosity of the story ) so why would they reveal such a thing ? I would´t want to speculate but maybe this is all a connection to the next series , meaning that M0 is not really a direct prologue to SDF Macross but rather to the next Macross project , which by all means could very well develop not only during one period but maybe featuring various consecutive events from 2009 to 2031 or even beyond 2051 (something in those lines) that led to such revelation 50 years later. This could very well give Kawamori the chance to tell his own story as he wants it (there´s nothing written in stone for that space in the timeline , just loose references ) as well as satisfing those that want the more obscure valks to make a debut ( OH GOD PLEASE GIVE US SOME VF-5000s and VF/A-14s !!!) and also reveal the events that lead to M0 secrets revelation in the way

Totally agree with you. A civil war scenario would feel like a Gundam rip-off , and Macross should NEVER ever fall that low , following the same steps as other shows , even if they´re the most popular as Gundam is is not only lame and unoriginal but down right pitiful and after 20 years of setting the standards of quality in the anime industry Macross doesn´t need to follow that path. Unfortunately doing a series about Millia or Max during the post-SW1 pre-M+ era would just be Macross M3 all over again , just as a Macross series focused on corruption would be too close to VF-X2´s plot. Based on the fact that the big K doesn´t like that much to reuse old characters I doubt we´ll ever see Max or Millia ever again as costars ( that would be the 4th time we see them ). What about the rest of the protoculture colonised planets , those that still had not been attacked by the Zentradi army (like Zola) ? What about those that WERE attacked by the Zentrans/Meltrans , wouldn´t they like to get their revenge ? considering that Zentrans/Meltrans are now assimilated into our culture wouldn´t such a conflict affect us as well ? Maybe something in the lines of M7 Trash would work , but once again that would be a copy of a previous work. At the end we´re are left wondering and that suspense is what keeps my addiction alive I suppose Kawamori could take the chance of expanding the events that ocurred between 2012-2039 , maybe prototype test flights in colony planets while a major conflict starts to unveil ? What about the continuity of Macross Zero ? no , I ain´t talking about SW1 but rather the period where M0 events are disclosed 50 years later , wouldn´t that have an effect in society , has society been kept ignorant about Protoculture all this years ? What if they found more advanced overtechnology developed during the last years of the Protoculture and other PC colonies started a bellic campaign in an effort not to unveil the Protoculture legacy (whatever that is )?

Ok lads , I think some of you are getting off-topic with all the M7 chitchat. this topic isn´t about any specific Macross show or your opinion of it , it´s about Macross as a whole so please try not to turn this into another M7 thread , we now the most light mention of such show get us all into trouble Anyway , some people have posted quite a few good comments. I assume most of us think or thought (as me) that what made Macross personally interesting as a series was an specific show but the more I watch all shows the more I realise the neverending potential of the franchise. We can think of all the options Kawamori could choose for the next series and he still would suprise us , there would still be things we couldn´t come up with and such ¨mystery¨ is what makes it evermore attractive. Given the lack of real-life refferences for Kawamori to base his new project on he will (IMPO) have to resort to something within the Macross universe , in oher words , extend/expand a branch of the macross timeline but this fact still doesn´t alter that infinite repertoire of alternatives that gives macross this mystery aura to it.

Nice one mate I personally think the 1/48s are the ultimate VF-1 toys and as such there isn´t a need to get every single one since they based on the same design , unless you don´t have decided on what´s you favourite VF-1 variant. I personally love the 1J , but as I already have the 1/60 version (soon to recieve a GBP ) I don´t feel the need to get another 1J toy , I hate having several versions of the same thing , it takes away its uniqueness , this is why I prefer having something else , perhaps more original like the Hikaru 1S which I don´t own yet or maybe doing my own customs like a Roy 1A. I wouldn´t recommend the 1/48s as a fulltime hobby since they take much of your budget and room space , I guess I´m immune to valkholism since I don´t feel the need to get every 1/48 , of course if you have no problems at all then you should get them all

First of all ,this ain´t a fanfic thread. That said , I just recently started questioning why I wanted so much to see what Macross Zero will add to the macross universe and its link to the rest of the shows and why I was so exited about a probable new TV show/movie/OVA that´s supposedly on the works ( based on the what the compendium says ) and I realised the lack of data that there´s on Macross story overall. What I mean by this is that what makes Macross attractive nowadays (for me at least) is the fact that there´s so muchmore to be told and discovered whereas in the old days we only had SDF Macross and DYRL? to content our hearts and be satisfiedwith and it all ended there. Fortunatelly now we can dream of knowing the beginings of the Protoculture and Supervision Army to the Post-SW1 era where man started colonisation of other Earth-like planets and its subsequent conflicts to what became of the Anti-UN beyond M0 and the Unification wars during the post-SW1 period and reconstruction of Earth and the new Macross Class fleet colonisation or what does the future hold for Variable fighter after M+ now that the BDI/BDS systems of the YF-21 and the Ghost AI were rejected by the UN Sapcy. Either way , Kawamori will have to be REALLY original and creative (as always , no doubt ) , if we do get a post-2051 series he´ll have little inspiration for more VFs...I mean , he based M+ on the famous YF-22 and YF-23 constest that was celebrated in Edwards Base but now that such contest is over and the US goverment is more bias towards unmanned fighters (X-36) even after the JSF project came out with a winner (no , I´m not confusing the YF-22/23 contest to the JSF project , I´m acknowledging both ) he has no real-life inspiration , let´s say he bases the next series on the JSF and X-36 case , that´s just gonna be M+ done over again right ? if he follows the new unmanned fighter planes trend alone then there´ll be nothing interesting on having a macross show with no pilots IMHO. In the other hand he if he did a post-SW1 series he would´ve to use the available VFs like the VF-4 ,VF-5000 or VF-14 in order to fill the role of main fighter , but then we would have no new VFs... Don´t get me wrong I´m not trying to start another ¨next-show-speculation-thread¨ since that´s been done to death , as in my firts paragraph my intention was to open a space where we could express our personal view on the prospects of the Macross evolutionary process. I´m happy about the fact that Macross is so open to new ideas and concepts and now that we´re living this Macross renewal this is emphasized even more. I think that Macross by itself (meaning the existing shows ) is not as intriguing plot-wise as in what pathways Macross leaves open with each new story/show , the attractive factor of the franchise for me personally is not what is stablished with each new show but what new paradox both from an real-life/creative point of view (M+) as within the macross universe (M0) is presented to the audience. Ironically , Macross Plus ending credits dedication (i.e. ¨Dedicated to all Pioneers¨) starts to make sense in more than one way. Oh yeah , I rembered now. You could also have the following: Roy VF-1J Kakikazi VF-1J I had wondered why Yamato has not yet produced VF-1 Purple Team variants from the PS2 SDF Macross Game given the fact that they are close to BW , it would´ve been apropiate of them to produce varaints from the game as a way of marketing the game itself AND their toys. Though I don´t know how popular those purple valks would be based on the success of the game.

Old news folks , that pic of the 1/60 SDF Macross Monster Destroid prototype was show a long time ago , we haven´t heard anything since. The M0 placard was supposed to say that there would be news of M0 toys soon yet nothing has appeared since , there was a looooooong thread with Noel´s wonderfestival report where a bigger pciture of the placard was shown , although it might have something to do with Hase´s Vf-0 kit. FYI , as far as we´ve seen there hasen´t been any M0 Monster , just the Cheyenne Destroid and the Anti-Un Octos

You mean Tranny as in Transformer or Transexual (no offense to anyone one ) ? Anyway , I have to agree, as much as I loved Transformers (NOT transexuals) in my childhood , I have to say I´m dissapointed that a TF toy won such a competition , simply because due to the targeted market of the toy makes it not as nicely engineered as others. TF toys are nice action-puzzles but not much more , of course you can have a lot of fun with them , but design-wise they aren´t that marvelous.

3 words : You Lucky Bastard The cheapest deal I´ve gotten until now was my first Yammie , the VF-11B original version , about 30 euros and to top it all , it has never had any hip problems EVER , no stress marks whatsoever , although I´m not stupid enough to transform it daily , nowadays I make sure it stays in mint condition in its box without risking its structure...but 10 dolars for a Yammie YF-19 is just damn cheap.

Amen brother , Amen. I don´t think Yamato will be able to attract any more consumers for the next 2 terms if they just keep spewing more VF-1 variants. They´ve certainly done an excellent job with both VF-1 lines but damn ...isn´t it ENOUGH already ? of course there´s still a few more variants that should be released in the 1/48 line (i.e. M&Ms , GBP , CF ) but couldn´t Yamato just start announcing new valks ? I meaan , is there anything NEW in the horizon after the YF-19FP , Q-rau and Monster ? not that we know of. M0 toys is still pretty much a rumour , M7 is a no-no because Bandai doesn´t want to give up on this comatose license and Yamato has no apparent interest in exploiting their game licenses (only VF-19A so far ) , so what do we have to look out for in the next 2-3 years ? nothing... unless... Yamato decides to exploit their VF-X2 license , hey , they could release a VF-19 (which is just a repaint of the M7 variants such as the VF-19P Zolan varaint ...and no word from Bandai there ) , why couldn´t they release a VF-17 or a VF-5000B ? what about the VF-4 ? What about Macross M3 ? Variable Glaugs anyone ? some said VF-14 in the back there ? VF-9 maybe ? Hell , why not Macross Plus Game Edition then ? they could easily release a highly detailed Ghost X-9 or a Neo Glaug , maybe a VF-5000B. and finally...what will happen once Banday´s M7 license expires ? will Yamato take the chance ? could BW grant the M7 license to Yamato even if Bandai has a hold on it as well (haven´t seen any problem for Yamato to produce VF-1 toys even though Bandai also holds a SDF Macross license ) ? seeing there are so many companies nowadays that release SDF Macross toys ( Kaiyodo & Movic , banpresto , Bandai , Yamato) , all of which have recieved their license from BW , why couldn´t Yamato have a M7 liecense ? is Bandai license exclusive or what ? This probably sounds like a rant but believe me , it isn´t , I´m happy for what I currently have and can buy and I´m willing to wait for anything new , but seriously , Yamato needs to make new stuff (new stuff as in prequel and sequel VF variants ) after they´re done with the 1/48s instead of using all their financial and manufacturing resources to make incredibly expensive and ridiculously useless 1/1 helmets that only 20 peaple in the whole world will ever buy <_<

Ok....so after all the profits made with the 1/60 and 1/48 lines they decide to produce a useless 1/1 unbelievably expensive DYRL helmet ? ARE THEY NUTS OR WHAT ? Does Yamato seriously think macross fanboys have reached that level of...for lack of a better word...stupidity to spend THAT much on a display piece ? I know some guys here are creazy enough to spend $400+ onmultiple toys of the same variant for their 1/48 collection (VFs & FP & more VFs for customs ) but I doubt there´ll be any market for this monstruosity , yeah it looks cool and all , but not cool enough that it should cost $1000+...unless the visor actually displays combat info in real time and it retracts inside the helmet and stuff like that.

Even though I´m bias towards the 1/60 line (even though I own a couple 1/48s) I assume from your post you´ll buy either toy for display purposes only (in Battroid mode) so you should really go for the 1/48 which is essentially a display piece with lots of playability.
