  1. I was always the ONLY valkyrie around and I had to protect a slow-moving(or immobile) target against endless waves of foes. Where's my damn squadron at, you know!?

Protecting their own slow-moving and immobile targets against other waves of hordes and hordes of Zentradi :)

    EDIT:

Now that I've had some time to think about it, I actually enjoyed the solo slant to the missions. To me, it showed just how outnumbered the humans were against the surviving Zentradi, and nowhere near ALL of them were humanized and pacified. It also showed just how rare the VF-1 was on the planet. There were not that many VF-1s (or Destroids, for that matter) to help guard and rebuild the entire planet, so it's only natual that they'd be outnumbered more often than naught.

  2. Conversely, is the much lower popularity of Macross caused by the fact that the creators, most notably Kawamori like to take Macross in completely new and original directions with each new anime and never retread the same ground.

Actually, I think there's a problem with this statement.

I see a startling similarity between the main characters in all the Macross series'. I mean, I look at Hikaru, and I easily see Shin and Isamu doing exactly the same things, with exactly the same responses in the mecha.

They all start off as hot-dogging, authority-resisting types. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing a new type of main character.

  3. Jackoffs will say anything to make a $. How much more of this crap do we have to put up with? I know I don't like buying anything that isn't official Macross merchandise.

Then don't. Nobody is forcing you to buy anything you don't want to. Just stick with your Yamato's and leave everyone else to make their own choices about what to spend their money on.

  4. Cool, huh? ;)

Well, it *would* be if I had any inkling as to what you were trying to describe :)

I must admit, this toy will solve a lot of the problems I have with understanding the Alpha transformation sequence, especially with those wings. I have no idea how the wings go from their position in Guardian mode to folded up on the back in Battloid mode.

Oh, well. I guess this means I have to buy a few dozen and find out for myself, eh? :p

  5. Bah, it's not that big a deal. Heck, your posts are easier to read than some of our native-english speakers :)

Looking at those new pictures brings up a question. The only visible hinges I see are in the wings so the flaps can flip around to form the back. But what about the rest? How does the nosecone flip up and backwards without a big ugly hinge visible on the fusulage in Fighter mode?

  6. I'm really liking the more drab, darker blue they're using rather than the brighter blue shown on the recent photos on RT.com. makes the Legioss look more military.

You can say that again. I'm loving the colour scheme they're chosen.

Then again, I'm also okay with the metallic blue we were shown before :)

  7. Man Fay and the double standard that dwells. I trhink it is BS they made Man Fay cover up. If he was a chick, they would hold the door open for her.

This same double standard plagues many places. I think it is BS that a chick can walk into a club with pasties over her nipples, a skirt with her @$$ hanging out and open toed shoes but they won't let a guy in because his shirt is not collard/ has writing on it or because his shoes are sneakers or sandles. :p

Welcome to the world of double-standards. It's called "real life" and sooner or later, we all need to deal with it.

  8. Shadow technology? What is this, Robotech Vs. Babylon 5?

I was thinking the same thing. God, I'd love to hear good ole JMS on this issue. He never met a challenge to his rights that he didn't love :)

I suppose everyone is just glossing over the fact that Robotech has been using "Shadow Fighters" and "Shadow cloaking devices" right from the original show, eh?

  9. According to the DVD features for Daredevil, the character of Elektra in the movie was so well-received that the people in charge decided that while she was dying on the rooftop, she was revived in the ambulance ride to the hospital.

That's how she was able to leave her cartouche on Matt's rooftop for the final scene in DD. Here's hoping to getting DD at least a guest-star bit in this movie.
