  1. I'll be getting an XBox 360, if only because there are no PS-exclusive games that hold any interest for me. Final Fantasy bores me like no other game series, and the generic Japanese RPG is even less interesting.
  2. Same here but a little interest. Ya I'm kinda the sameway. I've been a gamer since the early 80's. If anything I think the X-BOX 360 is coming too early. They're rushing ahead with this because Sony is coming out with the PS3 soon. MS learned the hard way that being second or third out of the gate just sucks. Sony's PS2 had sole claim to "advanced gaming platform" for too long by the time the XBox had come out. They have no intentions of repeating that mistake.
  3. Yes, but we all know that she's slapped a restraining order on you, so you have to leave her alone and not approach within 200 feet.
  4. Well, Sony and Microsoft might not be known for games themselves, but some of studios owned by Microsoft and Sony are starting to come out with some really good stuff. Take God of War, for example. Their only real problem is that games like that are obviously aimed at a more mature audience. So, they don't have the kind of across the board appeal. I mean, gamers agree that God of War was an excellent game, but even non-gamers know Mario. Indeed, especially when you consider that Bungie is wholly owned by MS. They do good games, especially Marathon. That just rocked.
  5. I still prefer the original controller.
  6. Once again, I find myself to be the lone voice of dissention when it comes to this group. I knew well in advance that AvP wasn't going to be the same sort of film as any of its predecessors. I walked into the theater expecting some mindless summer action adventure and had that more than amply met. When viewed in that context, AvP is more than entertaining. Would I have preferred something more in line with any of the previous films? Absolutly. Do I want to see what a Colonial Marine-era Old Painless mini-gun would look like on the big screen? Hell yes! Did I expect to see any of that? Nope. Do I want to see that in the sequel? God, yes. I can but hope that this is more in line with what's come before, but I'll be willing to wait and see the film with an open mind before passing any judgements on it.
  7. They also deleted some background music, most notably when Guyvers I and III take on Zek-tole in the finale of Act 1. I guess that's because the BGM was the starting theme and Manga had it replaced with their own.
  8. Firefly was excellent because it took a standard cliche (crew on a spaceship) and turns it on its head by making the world the show is set in as a Western. Think of the show as a Western in space, litterally a "wagon train to the stars".
  9. I really liked the shot of Anakin persuing Obi-Wan down that narrow corridor. As they're waving away with their lightsabers, there's a shower of sparks every time a blade hits that hallway. Very neat touch that most people/companies wouldn't have bothered to put in.
  10. Apparently not.
  11. I like. I like lots, in fact. Good stuff.
  12. My brother and I just started playing Halo 2 co-op, especially since we loved playing Halo co-op mode. Unfortunatly, it seems that whenever one player dies, the game reboots to the last checkpoint instead of just respawning the dead player right beside the living one. Is there anyway to stop this or what?
  13. Was this the same one that was later posted? That one seems to be 20.1MB. If there is more out there, or a higher quality version, I'd like to see it. Carl Yeah, what seven minute trailer?
  14. That's not quite the point I was trying to make. It's easy and appropriate enough to say, "I don't like this movie/game/show/etc." There's nothing wrong with that, and that can even lead to some decent constructive critisism. But where I draw the line is people saying that (in this example specifically), "Jackson is a hack who doesn't know what he's doing and totally screwed over the books." If anyone says that, they should have the balls to step forward and show us how it should be done, in a non-hack manner. As long as you open the door with comments like that, expect people to step in and call you on it (and no, I'm not saying you specifically, ewilen). And it's not really that hard. It's called a Fan-Film. People have been making them for Star Wars for years now with some fairly sophisticated technical effects. If the acting was mediocre and the strength was all in the writing, a fan-film should be all that's needed to prove that fact.
  15. A few issues with this trailer: First, watching River kick ass was good, but what about Jayne? He was the big bruiser from the series and we almost never got to watch him do what he was best at: Hunting down and beating/shooting the crap out of people Second, what's with the sounds in space? The series copied the "no sounds in space" gimmick from 2001 and I loved that part. I hope that's only added flavour in the trailer and not in the movie itself.
  16. Lamest argument ever, whether it's applied to Jackson or Lucas or anyone else. Perhaps there's an element of hyperbole and lack of appreciation for the hard work and difficulty involved in making a movie, but if one were to follow this line of reasoning, practically no one should talk about any film, novel, TV show, or piece of music except to praise it. My point is that people were saying that Jackson screwed up in presenting the books in a movie medium. If he really did such a horrible job of translating the books to the big screen, why don't you show us how it SHOULD have been done? What's so lame about that?
  17. The other thing people seem to forget is that Lord of the Rings was pretty much a niche, fantasy series that had no chance of ever getting into the mainstream novel world. As well, the novels themselves are pretty horribly written, in my opinion. I tried to read them and simply gave up because they had absolutly nothing that kept my interest. The movies, on the other hand, somehow managed to reach past that niche market that the novels live in and got to the mainstream audience and made Tolkien's story accessable to people who didn't like the books. One last thing, to all the people who have demonized Jackson's work with the movies: If you think he's such a hack and did a piss-poor job of it... do it yourselves. If you honestly think the movies are crap, I'd love to see you do a better job.
  18. You're absolutely right, EXO. The LOTR movies would have benefitted so much from some old school techniques. Just think about how much more believable the cave troll would have been if they had realized it with stop motion animation! The all the exteriors of the white city could have been painstakingly done with glass mattes, not scale models. See, this is something that amazes me to no end: Why do people time and time again complain about how fake the CGI is, when they'd much rather have a fake rubber puppet involved? Or how a fake CGI environment is so much worse than a fake matte painting in the background. CGI is no less fake than almost every other aspect of filmmaking.
  19. I dunno why, but the RS-72 battoid is looking very femanine to me Still, both are great extrapolations of existing (more or less) technology. Great stuff.
  20. Yeah, but isn't that the whole point?
  21. I wished they'd released some more newer pics, since most of those were old and leaked already. I'm not too sure what I think of the redesign of the Eva units. I'd thought that a clear cut-and-paste from the anime would be the best way to go.
  22. Welcome to the XX/XY divide
  23. Yoda doesn't actually suffer defeat or give up, he escapes from the battle, realizing that the Sith have become more powerful than Yoda or the Jedi order and that victory over the Darkside would have to wait until a "new" Jedi order could be created with Anakin's offspring. At least, that's what the novelization of ROTS says... I dunno about that. I sorta prefer the idea that Yoda was actually beaten by Palpatine, and had to retreat to his little swamp hovel as a cripple that could only teach. That would give added importance to Luke in ESB since that would make Yoda physically unable to take an active part in bringing down the Empire (which has been no small amount of speculation amongst the harder-core fans).
  24. Has any new pics or information been released about the civilian P-90? I do so love that gun
  25. Apparently, yes.
