  1. FV, I agree completely with your points, I just feel Alto should be complaining about things a bit more than he is on screen. He is a princess you know Same for Sheyl in fact.
  2. Not for me, sadly. What's the point of setting up a rivalry between characters if it just gets brushed under the carpet the moment the enemy ace supposidly (and we all know there's more to it than his story) joins the Frontier fleet.
  3. Yes, I am aware, and I'm sure it would be. However, as I have seen Pineapple Salad, my enjoyment has hampered somewhat. As for new fans, I'm sure all of them would rather had the Grace versus Sheryl fight, rather then suddenly changing focus to a supporting character. It makes the plot seem messy and dragged out. Bad pacing perhaps. They've broken the flow of the story for a sidestory, which ultimately has no lasting consequences. The conspiracy bits were arguably far more important than the main plot, but these don't entertain on their own.
  4. I have to disagree. An episode featuring Ozma has long overdue, but doing it at just moment has the effect of delaying what was the consequence of the previous episode. Sheryl has been pushed to background for too long in favour of Ranka, and the time when she should making her presense felt again, they instead focus on Ozma and give us some more vauge plot hints only worth 3 sentances of exposition. In short this felt exactly an episode prior to Galia 4. Conspiracies only entertain me if they move forward. With respects to Braea, Alto's reaction came accross as both petulent and breif. Perhaps my brain cut out during the scene in question he pointed out to his superiors that the cyborg had attacked him on Galia, and had a tendancy to get in way during missions. What I do remeber is him trying to evict Braea from the class room and failing.
  5. I really hope it will be. Episode 17 broke a plot thread for some more conspiracy bits, some overdue characterisation for Ozma, and a prank on those who watched the original series. That's why I consider it filler. If Sheryl doesn't have a row with Grace next episode it would be both a cop out and totally out of character. I'd also be a bit shocked if Alto and Ozma dont have serious things to say about Braea, considering he's nearly killed and/or attacked both of them now.
  6. Well I would argee that the series continues to be solid with its characterisation, plot is less so. It doesn't help that the series seems to have reverted to old status quo. The Vajra are indestructable again, Grace is still mysterious, Leon is still mysterious, Galaxy is still missing and we still get these little hints of something deeper, but no actual movement forward. After the Ranka attack this feels like a cop out. Consider this, Sheryl's world has come apart, Ranka has replaced her in all things. Why is it it taken this long for her to confront Grace? Why wasnt this the focus of the episode?
  7. Well, that was the first episode of frontier I disliked. Little actual entertainment, continued plot build up, but no pay off, all for a prank on long term fans. A good prank though, but I think a lot of this episode was padding.
  8. So, grace is unix? Oh, and Leon is Bill Gates. He has the hair.
  9. Classic pop and pronounciation aside, I think we are missing the real implication of this "little queen" statement. Ranka's face could be on a coin
  10. Good episode, its nice to see the whole Sound Force idea done right.
  11. Whhhhhaaattt?! How? Why?, WTF!? <Falls over in cardiac arrest> Oh, all bets are off now! This is beyond epic. Perhaps that's why NUNS exists..........
  12. "Don't confuse oil and water, that got me the first time!"
  13. Granted, but with people other than your family, including one of the opposite sex? Even japanese baths are segregated, and there's a reason for that. Totoro is innocent, and is possible to portray any bath scene as innocent, but the M7 isn't in my eyes. Few in animes are, the bath scene is one of the most popular fanservice cliches. Consider this: If you saw in a tabloid newspaper a rockstar being handwashed by a 14 year old groupie, would you think that was innocent?
  14. I'm just underlining two truisms: 1) Being naked with another person usually is sexual, or at least sexually akward, bar sharing a bath with your baby. 2) The well documented Lolicon trend in anime. So sure, sometimes a cigar is just cigar, but I'm confident in my judgement. The act is not inherently dodgy, but the fact they actually animated and spent time on it looks suspicious. Any scene in an anime which features prolonged nudity (baring the baby in the bath scenario above), is almost always fanservice. I little surprised people are having difficulty with this concept.
  15. I have to say that tracking down the errors in Frontier is a very lame thing to do at the moment. Wait until the series comes up with something like episode 4 of Gurren Lagann, or the horrors that have come from long running shonen series like Bleach. Then we can poke holes until our hearts content. We've just only just got another TV series, its better than we could have reasonably hoped for, and gleefully pointing out where they messed up seems a bit ungrateful.
  16. I'd credit the movie for pacing, but the OVA for everything else.
  17. An okay episode, nice to see some out-of-valk action and Ranka get the fame she deserved. However, if the M0 connection turns out to be simply a red herring or homage, I'll rank this episode a lot higher.
  18. Hmm, well, that's one juicy theory shot down. If there had been a second race involved it would explain the wildly different technologies of the Zentradi, Vajra and the birdman.
  19. So basically, the odds of anything which is not protoculture influenced being found is very small, but not totally out of the question. Thanks, that's been bugging me for a while. I have seen 0 but that was ages ago, so my recollectation is hazy. I need to watch it again. A thought occurs, did they ever officially say all that stuff was protoculture, or did we just assume?
  20. That doesn't really answer my question. So they had an army for conquest, granted, that's a partial answer. But who were they conquesting? If you get my meaning? The only race of note humanity has run into is Zentradi, who have had in the past HUGE numbers in men and material (and still do, though arritition means that the fleets aren't what they were). Presumably, they to fight something other than each other in order to exist in the first place. But, do we know who these foes were? That's my question. I suspect the Vajra in this, because they are somewhat removed from all other examples of protoculture artefacts, save the Bird Human in M0, and that's flat-out odd in the first place.
  21. Which sorta goes back to my point about the Zentradi being built to destroy the Vajra. Why were the Zendradi made in the first place? What treatened the protoculture? As is that threat still around? Is that the Vajra? You don't just bring billions of war machines into existance for no reason. That's something which has been bothering me for a while, I'm hoping Frontier will give me some answers on this.
  22. That's it! Its the rocks who are controlling the Vajra, under the Orders of Dana Sterling! No, seriously, your Protoculture transport theory is the best I've heard so far. That said, if the protoculture could make stuff like the Vajra, why did they bother with the Zendtradi? I'm starting to think the Zentradi were made to fight the Vajra back in days before the protoculture imploded.
  23. Yeah, that would have been funnier, I'll do better next time. Um, I was trying to create the most unlikely theory possible. For example, the Vajra are actually pawns of rogue mardook elements escaping from another dimension. EDIT: I have to stop fiddling with my posts so much.
