  1. Honestly, the fast packs are kind of a pain. The leg packs don't fit too well, and the mounts on the boosters are useless for getting them properly aligned on the fuselage. It's definitely one of those kits that CAN become a great model, but it'll take a bit of work. But I'm still praying Hasegawa will make a VF-11 kit eventually
  2. I forgot to mention, there are actually two versions of the Club-M VF-11. First, there was a Wonderfest exclusive version, which didn't include fast packs. The production version, which came a bit later, includes fast packs and the solid fuel rocket boosters.
  3. Retppu put out 3 1/72 VF-11 kits in total. VF-11B battroid, VF-11C battroid, and VF-11B fighter. So, yes, it does exist. It's pretty rare though. Hobby used to sell recasts of it years ago. I seem to recall people saying that it was a pretty nice kit, except the nose was a bit flat, giving it a "duck's bill" sort of look. The Club-M is a nice kit, but it has some fit issues. But that seems to be fairly common for Club-M kits...
  4. Yea, I have those 6 fansubs also. I think they were Shin-Getter's first releases, and it really shows. The timing and the fonts are really bad and amateur-ish. They pulled them from distribution quite a while back, probably because they were embarrassing compared to their later work (their Ideon subs were quite good) I, too, really liked with I saw. I really hope they, or someone else, will sub the series at some point.
  5. The official Yukikaze website is back up, after being down for at least a month now. It's an entirely new site now, and it has a lot of info on the Blu-Ray box set, which is out in about a month. Including pics of the art books and die-cast Mave model it comes with http://www.faf.jp/images/bluray_img2.jpg It also confirms that the discs will contain both english language audio and subtitles It'll also have an image gallery, a 'making of' video, and a 3 minute 'Yukikaze Experimental Movie' as bonus content I'm not too crazy about the box art, but seeing those art books, I know I've gotta have it. So I'm glad I've got it pre-ordered with Amazon. The Mave looks pretty cool too. It's got the weapons loadout from its final battle, including the laser weapon And it's 1/200 scale... kinda makes me wonder if it's based on Omo Ore Toys' ill-fated Yukikaze model project. They had prototypes of just about everything in 1/200 scale. Lastly, it's looking like Platz's 1/72 Normal Sylph and F/A-27C kits won't make their december release date. No surprise for me there. Every one of their 3 Yukikaze kits were released months late. I think their last kit, the FA-2, was delayed for at least 6 months...
  6. I'm voting plagiarism. Mainly because he practically traced the design drawing...
  7. A few years ago, I was working on updating MW's garage kit pages, and I started with the Wave section. I had filled in a lot of gaps, and included a lot more pictures. But that one threw me for a loop too. I was never able to verify that the 1/72 VF-22 actually exists... Wave's code for Macross products is MC-xx. Supposedly, MC-16 is the 1/72 VF-22. If it doesn't actually exist, then I have no idea what MC-16 is. Though actually, I don't know what MC-19 is either. It might have been skipped though, since MC-20 and 21 are re-issues. Also, I though it was kinda interesting that Wave revived their old Macross code system for their new Macross products this past year. Their 1/100 VF-0 kits are MC-31 and 32, and their WHAM SDF-1 toys are 41 and 42. But I digress...
  8. There's one on Yahoo Japan Auctions right now. But you'd need to go through a proxy service like Celga to bid on it. They usually sell for about Y12,000. http://page4.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/d79116060 That's just about your only option right now. They've been out of production for a few years now.
  9. I played an ISO of it for an hour or so. There was a bunch of stuff I couldn't figure out though, so I put it down and haven't played it since :/ I think I heard it might be getting an US release in a few months though... I'll definitely be buying it if they do.
  10. I was at the Yellow Submarine store in Akihabara today, and I was totally shocked to see that they had the 1/144 FA-2 Fand II pre-paint in stock! I've had them on pre-order with HLJ for nearly a year now, and they show it as constantly being delayed. So I was totally shocked to see them sitting on a table near the register when I walked in! Aside from that, about the only Yukikaze stuff I found in Akiba was a version 1/100 EX 1.5 Supersylph Yukikaze for about Y4000. A lot better than the $70 it's been going for on ebay and yahoo japan! They alse had the 1/100 EX Mave for about the same price, but I passed on it. Maybe I'll go back for it. Oh, and one shop had the Platz 1/72 Fand II for Y10,000. But I already have that one.
  11. So I got the AC6 flightstick bundle today. Pretty good game so far. But I have issues with the flightstick... First and foremost, the hat stick that moves the camera seems to be off calibration or something. It constantly has me looking off to the left. I've only been able to fix the problem well enough to make the game playable by using a rubber band the pull the stick to the right a bit, bringing the HUD more or less to center. Also, it seems like the stick isn't as sensitive as it should be. I mean, you pull the stick back a little, you expect it to pitch up a little, right? Nope. There's a lot of 'dead space' around the stick's center, and you need to move it way too much to get that slight movement you're after. And, of course, there's no sensitivity setting to change. Which brings me to my final point... It seems like, just like with the PS2 games, the flightstick is a bit of an afterthought. There are no options for it in-game, and it works merely by emulating the functions of the PS2/360 controllers. Once again, the manual doesn't even mention the flightstick. The button layout is only printed on the box. For (what amounts to) a $90 stick, I'm pretty disappointed.
  12. Man, I wish... There's a resin kit of the Lord British out there, but I have yet to find one after 6+ months of watching Yahoo Japan Auctions. I have, however, managed to get my hands on a 1/100 Jade Knight and two different versions of the Vic Viper, also in 1/100 resin I still want to get some of the R-Type resin kits too... I still only have the e2046 recast of the R-9A. By the way, there's a 'black version' of the R-9A gashapon that's been on yahoo japan auctions recently. I think it was a pre-order bonus for R-Type Tactics for PSP.
  13. That is just unblievably awesome... Looks like HLJ has em up, but they're already pre-sold out http://www.hlj.com/product/YUJ96771 And HLJ says they'll be out November 30th... 2 weeks after I'm back from my trip to Japan
  14. The proportions will remain the same. The only real difference will be in how some of the parts are cast. I'm not a big fan of 'surface cast' flat-backed parts, and parts with huge pour stubs. So I'm just making some small changes to allow for cleaner casts. Price is still way up in the air. I'll be doing all I can to keep costs down though (and no, fillers won't be involved) The re-issue of the launch rail should be in the SSM soon. John has my casts, and I think he just needs to source those brass bolts before they're ready to go. No price yet on those either.
  15. If anyone else is interested, Amazon Japan has a pre-order up for the BluRay Yukikaze box, priced at Y19,270, 25% off. Looks like it's out on 1/25/08. http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E6%88%A6%E9%97%98...9361&sr=8-2
  16. Wow, a new art book and a die-cast Mave... I might just have to get that set, even though I don't have a BluRay player... FYI, the Fairy Air Force at War book is 160 pages, and Blue and Purpre is 120 pages. So this most likely IS a new book! And Blue and Purpre was an art book that was self-published by a couple of the Yukikaze designers, which they sold at the Comic Market in japan about a year ago. It's since commanded prices of $200+ on yahoo japan auctions. Great book though!
  17. If it's a VF-1 you're looking for, this is probably what you want: http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN30497 They're out of production, but you should be able to find them on ebay. But they're old kits, and, in my opinion, not very good. I'd say if you want a good transformable VF-1, go with a Yamato 1/48 VF-1 toy instead. And if you just want to build a model, Hasegawa is the way to go. All the Hasegawa kits are non-transformable, but they're by far the best ones out there. And a 1/72 VF-1 is about 9" in battroid mode.
  18. Wow, I totally missed this one until just now! Looking good so far! Just one thing I hope you'll keep in mind... The 1/72 pilot's seat you seem to basing your cockpit on is the Block 6 design, which was used in DYRL. All of the VF-1s in the TV series had a Block 5 cockpit, which is quite different from the Block 6. So since you're sculpting the TV series version of Misa, please try to make the tv version of the cockpit to go with it. I'll definitely be getting one of these, if only for the cockpit!
  19. The Club-M VF-1 series of resin kits were amazing for their time! Excelent proportions and damn good detailing too. But still, their detailing pales in comparison to the Hasegawa kits. They have far more panel lines and such that the Club-M. And the decal sheets are far superior too. Club-M's were always pretty sparse. You'll certainly have fewer fit problems with a Hasegawa too. I only have the Normal Valkyrie version of the Club-M, which is the only one that has legs without fast packs. Which really is a shame, because I definitely prefer the Club-M's legs over the Hasegwas. The proportions are better, and they even have arresting hooks! But for most everything else, I prefer the Hasegawas.
  20. I'm totally psyched! I'll be getting it as soon as it's out (october 23rd, was it?), but I'm gonna try my best to hold off playing it for a couple weeks. Gonna save it for the flight to japan on the 7th. I can think of no better way to kill 14 hours on a plane than playing the best Castlevania game ever made And actually, if the limited edition comes out in Japan on the 9th, I'll probably have to pick one up while I'm there!
  21. Starship Modeler will be getting their first batch of 15 Launch Rails in the next few days
  22. It's the plain, brown-ish book on the left. And Vermillion, I don't think I've seen that cap on yahoo japan in quite a while now. I could keep an eye out for one when I'm in Japan in November.
  23. Yea, there's auctions like that all the time. Usually starting right around there, and rarely getting a bid. I think I got mine for Y8000 back when there were still a lot of them to go around. But now they've really dried up, and they usually sell for $150+ (when there's an auction with a low enough starting bid) In other Yahoo Japan news, there was a 1/100 Normal Sylph resin kit up a couple weeks ago, which I never knew existed. It sold for Y28,000 http://page10.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m43581730 Your link doesn't work. But the book and DVD set is usually called Fairy Air Force at War. Great book, but pretty useless DVD.
  24. Actually, it does include hands for gerwalk mode. But both hands are just fists, so there's no way of building it holding the gunpod (which is non-canon, but still pretty cool)
  25. Here's one for ya. The otherwise unnamed "Player's Tank" from the 1988 Namco arcade game Assault. It's an old favorite of mine. I'm gonna scratchbuild a model of it one of these days... Those are two sides of the same tank, by the way
