  1. I almost never go dub, unless its very well done, and when subtitle is not an option. Would rather not watch the show with sub-par dub. So subtitle for me all the way. All those Japanese talent were cast for the show to tailor fit the characters, and they are a lot more serious and advance in their job & industry, with some seiyus reaching celebrity level (due to their great acting and many years of experience). Its just not the same when finding someone else (and often not talented in voice acting), from a different culture, and try to be that character and read the lines in time (instead of the other way around, having the animation fitting the timing of how the original dialogues first recorded). Its just not the same man. Kind of like watching The Dark Knight in Spanish or Chinese voice over, when Joker no longer sounds like Ledger.
  2. Wish TTGL comes with 2 drills instead of one. Otherwise, looks cool! I'm getting one.
  3. http://collectiondx.com/node/2757 Its exactly what it says, the Protect Gear figure. Think of Jin Roh, but the live action version from the movie Red Spectacles.
  4. Wow...the movie is a compilation of TV episodes?! Not a brand new feature?!!! That paragraph did mention there is new footage added, about 1 episode's worth of new stuff. But still a bit disappointing, as I was expecting a brand new movie.
  5. Yeah. I love the sub version release a lot. Cheap, but packed with episodes, with only a month between volumes. Can't wait for vol.3!
  6. While I don't like all the mecha designs in Orguss (didn't like the angular enemy bots as much), some did end up being very memorable, even after 20+ years of not watching that show or owning an Orguss toy. End up getting myself a Takatoku 1/40 Orguss not too long ago. Love that organic look and red/white color scheme, with a head that almost look like an eagle head, with a green visor on the mouth. Very unique.
  7. How come that dub box is so big? Isn't GL pretty thin with only 3 DVD cases? Or do these cost more and has more content? I like the cheap sub version, so a bit surprised there is another version of it coming out. Looks like the Revoltech TTGL is a very good bang for the buck. It looks so huge, but still cost standard 1995yen. Very nice.
  8. The Batman voice doesn't bother me. It does a decent job. The length of the movie doesn't bother me either. In fact, the longer the better. I don't quite understand why people are bothered by the longer length of any movie, as long as its good. Whats the hurry to leave?
  9. I actually like the first one alot. One of my favorites. But I can see why some get put off by the style. I find the story very intriguing on that one, and if you watch Tekkon Kincrete before, you'll probably appreciate this short more. And yeah, the girlie Bruce Wayne one is my least favorite. Still well animated, but the character design is just way too young looking for Bruce.
  10. I have to disagree, and quite surprised how much 'negative' reviews or comments I've seen. I really like the DVD overall, and most of the stories worked well enough as a 10-15min short. Some better than others in storytelling, but nothing below average. Really great art, very smooth animation (Tekkon Kincrete, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust...anyone?), and very atmospheric. While some stories or script work out better than others, I find the overall package well worth the money I spent. It not like someone just did something cheap to cash in from The Dark Knight movie. This is actually some very very good animation. I have a feeling that either people are just expecting something different, or they are not that used to the idea of being 6 stand alone 10-15min shorts. Seen some reviews even try to find elements to tie in each short to chain it as a disjointed 75min movie or to the Nolan Batman movies with any continuity. Think they are really missing the point and giving it a bad score for the wrong reason.
  11. It almost looks like this animation is for the SF4 home version (PS3/Xbox360) and not for the Arcade nor a stand alone animation show. If the entire game has this type of high quality animation for story telling, then SF4 sure is a winning combo to me. Don't mind the animation characters look a little chunky. Ryu & Ken got much nicer faces there than the CG trailers (maybe CG stuff for Arcade version?). Really liking this animated trailer.
  12. Maybe you want to check ebay, with most Tumblers under $500 shipped instead of $800 from BBTS. $800 is enough to get you a Tumbler AND a Batpod shipped!
  13. Did the DVD came out already? How short are te stories when you mean by too short?
  14. Too tough to choose. I like them pretty equally. YF-19 got the 'main character' vibe to it, and has a cooler battroid mode. But YF-21 has a lot more charaacter in the design, and mimmicks the look of a Q-Rau, which is a very nice touch. So can't really choose.
  15. Unless I am really unlucky, HLJ's current stuff is old stock. I just got a crooked gunpod version from them weeks ago, as well as loose shoulders and stressed 'neck' piece on the fighter than everybody complained about. For once, I suggest not to get the YF-19 from HLJ, even though I am their frequent customer.
  16. I'd go with a gray, if I really ahve to replace the yellow. Though I like it yellow. Got mine a few weeks now, but hasn't open it yet.
  17. I think they already do, even though not too sure how it works. Cause one time I accidentally shot dead a teammate (the guy got little life left while caught inbetween me and an enemy crossing fire), then I keep getting a red flashing "Boot Player" on my screen while I play. Not sure what it does really, but yeah, don't kill your own teammates. So how you joint the clan? I tried to use the player search to look up some of you guys names, but the search failed all the time, so gave up after a few tries. Do I just need to look up the game ID names or the clan name, and not the PS3 user name added to my friend list too? I am still in single player just finished Act 2. But would love to join you guys after I am done beating the game and get better at the controls.
  18. I do kill a lot, and really care less about the ranking. Most of the time, I do the stealth part too, and use the tranquilizer gun whenever its handy. But I usually don't leave sleeping soldiers alive, in case they wake up on me and cause me trouble later. But no or very little killing sure makes it more challenging. I also scavenge a lot. Hang out a bit longer in areas where rebels battling PMCs with unlimited respawn (especially when there is a RPG guy or someone with expensive weapon, lot more points than regular guns), stocking up numerous guns and ammo for more DB points. Kind of funny that all the rebels look at me with an alert when they see me playing around with all their dead comrades. But glad they stay as friendlies unless I really start taking them down.
  19. Think those two were just joking around. Relax. Just finished Act 1 (yeah, I am slow). Then got myself a M60E4. Man, was that gun sweet with pretty much no reload necessary....for a long time. Makes my former favorite SCAR seem so inferior now. Love the scream of Snake when firing. "Graaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah~!"
  20. Yeah. Looking forward to this. Surprised me a bit that in the U.S. version, its the him that plays Liquid Ocelot, instead of Liquid's actor. The Japanese version uses Liquid's original voice instead. But logically, it makes a bit more sense on the U.S.'s choice. I am surprised that all the characters have English lip-synching too! Just having an entire new set of facial animation for all cinematics in the US version is just mind boggling! That is some huge effort on localization.
  21. I rated them more on their acting, and less on their "prettiness" of the voices. If you are talking about just their voices, almost all of them are very good to excellent. They fit their character pretty good. Just that the acting talent varied among them, with some have more stiff unatural lines than others. The good ones always have me immensed into the story and action, while the not so good ones will lift me from the fiction for a second thinking "that sound stiff" or "man, he tried too hard"...etc. Like Solidus for example. His voice is cool and deep, but often times he read them like a real loud mouth bad guy typically from saturday morning cartoon acting. We already know he is a bad guy. He doesn't need extra juice in the voice to make it so. Sometimes less is more, especially if you want it to be realistic. But yeah, overall, the MGS franchise has very good voice acting as a whole, compare to other games or anime show.
  22. Voice actors in the MGS series varies in quality, ranging from some being very good to very bad. Here are my takes on the ones I can think of out my head: Very Good (very natural): Paramedic, Eva(MGS3), Meryl, Major Zero, Campbell, Emma, Naomi (MGS1), Fatman Good (decent job overall): Snake, Ocelot, Master Miller, Vamp, the Black Guy(Fatman's mentor) Average (a bit over acting at times): Otacon, Liquid, Boss Not Good: Rose, Solidus, Fortune Bad (just can't really act): Raiden (MGS2), Ninja (MGS1, very annoying voice but got a new voice in Twins Snake and improved) But I haven't play through MGS4, so not sure if some voice actors improved or not. Hope Raiden did. He was pretty bad in MGS2, with lines sounding soooo stiff like reading. He got better towards the end of MGS2, but still. And I actually like Raiden as a character. Just his voice is bad. The Japanese version has a much deeper voice.
  23. On the contrary, I actually enjoyed the codecs & long cinematics just as much as the gameplay.
  24. Yeah. I like the auto aim as well. Especially when this game takes so many hits to down a guy (unless you are very good at head shots), and your opponent have quite a few moves to hop around distracting your aim, its really hard to rely just on manual over the shoulder aiming. While first person view tend to be very slow (both getting into position and the sensitivity). Hard to follow a fast or hopping guy even at sensitivity 10. Though I am sure partly is due to my skills as well. Never been that great on shooters since I don't play them often. Though I remember I did decent during MGO beta with auto-aim.
  25. If its game ID for MGO, I am pouchman. Though I used to only play solo (and still green), so need a pointer or two on how to join/add you guys or be in a clan. Also, did they removed the auto aim on MGO? Seems like the few games I tried couldn't auto-aim anymore on sub machine guns nor assault rifles. It just give me a "beep" when I try to activate it. Just wondering.
