  1. Uncharted looks very pretty. Love the water in the beginning jungle. However, from the little I've played in the demo, the story throw me off a bit. While they keep advertising the main character is your "every day ordinary guy" that just got caught in the middle of a situation, he whip out his gun and kill a bunch of people in no time, without even knowing who these guys are. He's no less ordinary than a slaughter machine LOL. Could have given him a more appropriate background to make things more believable. You don't see Indiana Jones wiping out hordes of dudes like Rambo. But some very impressive looking environments in this game. I also got myself a PS3 not long ago. While I am fine with its current library (and awesome upcoming titles), I do feel that it would be more fun picking Xbox360, knowing a bunch of my co-workers are very active on multiplayer online games on Xbox. So the PS3 better not disappoint me in the coming years.
  2. Shining Heresy/Defrost is a good OVA. There might be some slow parts. But when there is action, its very well animated, and characters look pretty and consistent, good songs. Don't have the kind of 'mix bag' feeling like I have when watching Pailsen Files vol.1.
  3. Those designs just look wrong. Its not a bad idea to make a cool comic book out of the Bible, but doubted many artist can pull it off. And when you slap on generic designs and comic book cliches, it'll just make the thing look that much more silly. Guess God himself will appear in tight white spandex and a cape, while wearing a piece of underwear on the outside...sigh.
  4. Don't seem a lot of people are excited about the Fist of the North Star line, but I am all over it. Finally a good Hokuto No Ken toy series that is fun and awesome looking, while cheap enough to collect a bunch of different characters. Love the exploding bad guy LOL. Also, I got a question for you guys. I just got my Getter 1, Black Getter, and Shin Getter 1. While they are all great, especially Shin 1, aren't these 2nd generation Revoltech figures supposed to be bigger than the old ones? Like my Eva Type-F, its significantly bigger. But all these recent Getters seem to have gone back to the old small size. Anyone know why the size change? Or did Kaiyodo dropped the 'upscale' idea halfway and just kept them with the Evas and call it done?
  5. I so happen to be watching it too. In the middle of the series, so can't really give u a more detailed review. But from the first half of it, its a decently good show. Enjoyable, likable characters(but not a lot of depth), pretty cheap DVD sets for a long series, and there are fun moments. But nothing particularly very cool or exciting about it. Its set in 1889, but the design on a lot of things seems not quite fit in to the era visually, giving u a sense of disbelief from time to time. Its a decently good kids adventure show with solid animation and consistent art from episodes to episodes, from waht I've seen. Nothing bad about it, but it probably won't become one of your top favorites. In a sort of similar genre (young boy & girl adventure), I find Crest of the Stars series more enjoyable.
  6. Can't say about multiplayer modes, nor a lot of modes actually, since I am only starting to play, hehe. But Rock Band is fun. Drums are sensitive (but hard, as the foot pedal beat tends to throw your arm motions off often, unless you are very good with arms and legs coordination), but fun nonetheless. Wish the plastic on the drum pad is not as loud though when you hit it. Might need to find some rubber tip for the drum sticks to soften the noise, unless you crank the TV volume up really high to cover it. Guitar is easier to pick up, but can still be very challenging. But guess it might be easier for experts with Guitar Hero III. RB definitely is fun, and has a good variety of gameplay.
  7. So you've tested it out on your machine with the PS3 Les Paul Guitar playable on PS3 Rock Band? Just want to make sure, since a lot of people have been complaining about their PS3 GH3 guitars not compatible with Rock Band PS3, while the Xbox360s are fine. And I only have the Rock Band PS3 Fender, so can't really test it myself.
  8. Don't use paint thinner to clean MPSS, especially Testors. Testors paint thinner is definitely a no no. There was a fellow who tried to do some weathering on a movie Leader Prime. Instead of using Tamiya enamel paint thinner that I used on my customs (which had no problems up to this day), he used Testors thinner, and his Prime crumbled to pieces the next day...completely dismembered... After reading all the post in the TFW2005 thread, and closely inspect my MPSS, I did find a very very fainted stress mark on one side of the wing hinge, same spot where a bunch of guys do (where the big wing flips up and folds). The other side is fine. Only transformed a couple times. But can't tell if its like that out of the box. I did clean the burnt marks off but not the silver paint, with 70% alcohol and didn't use a lot to soak it wet. Highly doubted the alcohol does any damage though, since there are a good number of examples you guys mentioned to have parts soak in alcohol entirely for a good amount of time, with no ill effects, so doubted a weaker solution with minimal application will do more damage. So I guess as long as the stress marks doesn't get worse, then it might be ok. But if it keeps growing, then you better stop transforming your screamer. On a side note, it is somewhat common to have pinned hinges cracked up out of the box. My movie Leader Brawl has just that on one of the leg panels. I just end up reinforcing it with superglue from the outside, and holds up fine so far.
  9. Thats very correct. HLJ just has a yellow rubbery plug that pulls right off. Didn't even take 10 secs to take mine off. As of expecting MP-05 Megatron to play like MP Prime, don't. Its not fragile in a sense that its going to crumble of things fall apart. But some small locking pegs (the ones that has hook to lock parts together in gun mode) may not take the stress very well after a few transformation. They tend to stress, and eventually breaks, just like any overstressed plastic little peg. But even if a couple of those broke, the gun will still hold together well enough. And Megatron is perfectly stable and fine as long as it doesn't hold the big fusion cannon, and helps when you strengthen the ankle ball joints. In robot mode, you can pose and fiddle the thing all you want. it won't break on you. Its the transformation to gun mode that you have to be more careful with.
  10. I actually used 70% alcohol, rubs off the burnt mark just fine. Takes quite a few rubbings, but it sure comes off slowly. However, they are not strong enough to get the silver out, nor the red. So in my case, I'll leave the silver paint there. Starscream does have grey nosecone in the animated movie anyway, so its not totally inaccurate. Plus don't want to risk breaking the toy, as the silver paint sure needs something pretty strong to get them off.
  11. In another words, Dance Dance Revolution players should go to learn how to dance for real instead... Hope that doesn't apply to shooters LOL. Sorry, can't help it. Hehe.
  12. Its worth it if you want the best looking & most complex G1 Megatron. Very nice finish, and whole body is full of tight ratchet joints, but the ankles are weak (need to be strenghtened by superglue or nail polish). But be prepared to not transform it too much though. Some small pegs will break after transforming a few times. So depends if you are the hands on transforming type collector, or you just love a cool display piece that you can fiddle with.
  13. Finally got my MPSS, through the help of a friend. Its great in a lot of ways, but at the same time, it didn't blow me away like it did to a lot of others. The paint job does look sloppy Hasbro tradition, with one side of the arm with panel lines, then the other side doesn't. And the shoulder ratchets seems really weak. Good that the arms are light, so its enough to hold poses without issue, and the rest of other joints are all pretty sturdy. One thing does bother me a lot is that SS can't stand very good on its own unless the legs are angled in a specific way and the whole figure leaning forward at a good 15-20 degree. I strengthend the toe swivel so it helped too. But the lean doesn't look as good in a relax stance, while the display stand is a bit wobbly. Hip kibble does get in the way when posing, but too long to stand properly when attached to the lower legs. So I left it at the waist. Its still a great toy nonetheless, and definitely worth it for $50. But I can see why people were not too happy for MP-03 back then, then they all paid $100 or more, especially this MPSS already fixed some issues of the previous release. A worthy 8.5/10 for me. P.S. In robot mode, don't try to force too much raising the big wings when you want it angled. I snapped a hinge easy without lifting it too hard. So be careful on those wing hinges. Good that it glues right back.
  14. While the upcoming Kenshiro 12" from Medicom x Kaiyodo collaboration is still not quite up to par on the head sculpt (look like a generic yakuza dude rather then Kenshiro), this Rei figure is very impressive. Very manga acurate in proportion and head sculpt, and with those awesome folds on the outfit that you almost don't notice its fabric and not sculpted PVC. This is pretty much the best looking Rei action figure I've ever seen. Very impressed. Release in coming May 2008.
  15. Yeah, thats why I bought the Big Carry a while back . While I don't have the whole Turbo Custom squad to go with it, just placing my Red Shoulders on it already looks sweet. Definitely want a AG Blood Sucker, Strike Dog, Rabidly, and the Command Vorct varients. And maybe a Chubby from the Pailsen Files, if it looks good.
  16. I do think that most of Appleseed's fame are from its original manga, not so much from the anime or the recent movie. I don't think a lot of people regards the movie as a very good film at all. Like most of you already said, great detailed action, odd render, and no story at all. I was interested in watching it, but didn't really like it much after I watched it.
  17. Don't really like it too much, even though other TF fans praise whatever Jin paints up. Makes Unicron looks like a Frenzy type character, rather than a big bad meany even meaner than Megatron.
  18. I like the 1/48 series after collecting a few. They didn't impress me a whole lot per se, but not quite lacking either. I guess they are not as playable as the big guys for sure, but since the Votoms mechs got so much varients, its one of the best way to get multiples, without hurting the wallet too deep. With a squad of dogs equiped with varied weapons and stuff, it does make a very nice display, without taking up too much space. Wouldn't work too well with the 1/18, 1/12 even worse, unless you have empty giant shelves. I do find some of them a bit inconsistent in the QC. Certain joints can be a bit too loose and needs some minor superglue fixing. Fortunately, its very easy to take apart, as if its a plastic snap together model kit with a few screws. But not too sure if TakaraTomy has the right strategy on THE NEXT AG series. While the Burglarydog is cool, so people are willing to pay the high price. It might hurt the toyline if they keep the high price on every upcoming release, like the Purple Bear set. I still have a lot of 1/48 dogs(other than Scopedogs) i want to get, so I definitely don't want to see this line dies off just yet before they release those. The Fatty Ground types are great, as well as the recent Turtles. Feels more solid and sturdy overall.
  19. Just added a pic. Even Prime himself is giving a thumbs up on his new trailer. LOL
  20. Yeah, the CG does stand out in a 'not very good' kind of way. But not to a point it bothers me a whole lot. The 2D character animation bothers me more actually, very inconsistent in facial accuracy (Chirico especially). At least the CG helped making the battle scene more epic, since they can allow more action happening at the same time, without redrawing every little thing frame by frame with cells. For DVD vol.2, the limited edition comes with another green Scopedog. But with a new gun and has a missile pod mounted on the same backpack came with Vol.1's figure. Now I felt that I got gipped getting the figure from vol.1, as this one is the same, but with better accessories. However, I got too many 1/48 scopedogs that just one with Pailsen backpack is good enough. Got a bit tired of the tricky business to lure you get the figures every time. First, give you the sucky hybrid body (new elbows, old legs) but has a Pailsen Files type backpack. Now give you a cooler gun, and a missile pod. But how different is it compare to my other 6 or 7 various green scopedogs with different accessories? Not much really...
  21. Nice. But not sure if that face and body type suit Bumblebee that well. He does look mean (wonder why the guy didn't use a Classic BB's head, which has a very nice sculpt), and the top heavy body type is not quite him. Though the round Civic Coupe does. Still don't quite understand how they can leave out Bumblebee from the BT line, regardless not able to get a VW license.
  22. One tough customer there. But since you are pretty handy with your brush work, bet you can whip out one pretty good.
  23. Here is a pic from another fellow collector. The taillights are nothing very special, just add a little to the otherwise very plain rear bumper.
  24. The trailer does have stickers exactly like the G1 version. In that case, you won't even need the upgrade kit and save yourself some money.
  25. Just got the Upgrade Kit for that KO MP Prime Trailer last night, and put the whole thing together. Here is my impression: Pretty much thin plastic panels with carved details, and with a layer of silver sparkly paint on top. The side blue/white strips for the exterior are thin strips molded in color plastic, and glued together to add depth, rather than a sticker. The Autobot logo has red paint on top. Each panel has very strong double side tapes to secure them on the trailer (make sure you don't make mistake positioning these, as the tape are so strong that you might risk snapping the panels in half try pulling it back out after contact). The panels rest good and fit in nicely. Also has a small piece with added taillights on the back of the trailer, painted silver and lights are in red. The Bad - Very bad QC. There are a good number of scratched paint spots on the silver paint, as well as fainted glue marks on the blue/white strips. Some scratches on the plastic too. Its a little disappointing, as the mold on the plastic sheets are very clean. But they got messed up a bit here & there during the assembly phase and the painting phase. And lucky that the transparent glue stain is not that visible, only when upclose and at a certain angle when light is reflected on the surface. Its unacceptable for an official product, but border line for this one since its a custom/knock off. So I'll let it slide. Also, my side strips somehow don't have double sided tape on, so I have to use my own Super Tape to get them attached. The Good - The pics speak for themselves(even though they aren't good quality pics). Regardless the QC, it made this trailer so darn cool! The silver paint is a tad lighter than the original grey plastic. This looks different from the prototype pics in the auction, which has a matching grey on all panels. While I wasn't too happy on the color mismatch at first, it turned out pretty good when you have them altogether. So now it has 3 shades of grey/silver. The original plastic being the darkest, then the darker silver on the center panel, then the lighter silver on the side panels. Add some contrast on the look, and I bet the seller is trying to mimmick the look more on MP-04's trailer, which does have the side panels a lighter silver. All panels fits very securely and doesn't get in the way with the parts, gimmick, nor the folding. The paint don't feel like they scrape too easy, so I am thinking a lot of the scraped paint spots are from manufacture. In terms of look, I am very happy with it, minus the QC stuff. So overall, I give this kit a 7/10, due to its high price and iffy execution. But when the trailer has it on, the trailer definitely worth a 8.5/10. I would have given it a 9.5/10 if there is not much QC on both of these. It is a really darn good trailer afterall. For those of you that already applied the stickers before you got this upgrade kit, don't bother peeling those off. Its going to be huge pain and hours of agony for you, as the stickers won't peel off and always breaks into tiny bits the moment you try peeling it. The adhesive is very strong too. So you'll have a big mess trying, unless you love to play with Goo Gone a lot, and don't mind damaging the plastic and break some fingernails. My advice, leave the stickers, and locate the screw holes to disassemble the blue station parts. Just cut a small hole on the blue strips sticker where the screws are from the outside. And when you are done with everything, just have the new blue strip panels tape right on top of the old stickers. It will cover it up good completely, and stays on securely. Also, don't need to over tightening the screws when putting the parts back together. Too much tension on the screws can warp the flat surface of the trailer's exterior.
