  1. Okay I tried to fit the part after cleaning it up and the top part of it was a bit too tight (the inner diameter for extrusion 3).

I also measured Bandai's metal bracket for the inner and outer diameter, theirs is about 3.65mm Diameter (inner) and 5.40mm D (outter).

I believe yours was 3.6mm D (inner) and 2.356mm Radius (4.7mm outer). I adjusted it so the inner is 3.7mm and left the outer the same since the circular extrusion looked to be measured to the outside of the bracket.

Currently printing up another one with the slight modifications. I'll post a response after I attempt to test fit.

    Edit:

Okie dokie the 3.7mm Diameter (inner) change seemed to work! Just a hair snug...

the unfinished surface is because my printbed was just a wee bit too high to the hot end.

  2. Okay I got the file and export it as an .stl. going to give this a few prints with different settings and see how it turns out.

    Edit:

    First print about 18 mins (with bed heating); ABS; 0.2mm 60mm/s speed, supports;

Now i just need to dig up the mb qant again... lol.

  3. I really should've replied to you earlier. I have an Anet A8 (Prusa clone). It's been working well for me on most prints for ABS and great pretty much anything PLA. I do plan on eventually get a better printer (Creality and an SLA of some sort). If you like I could try printing out the part with my Anet A8 and test the fit on my MB Qant.

Yea when printing parts through Shapeways there isn't too much of a price difference, just really a wait process.

    Edit:

I guess I could also pull out my MB Qant and (shy of taking it completely apart) cad it up on AD Inventor, XD.

  4. Aww damn... sorry to hear. The finish on it looks great and looks pretty close for use too!

    Edit:

Looking at it closer I didn't realize you modeled up the same side. I'm guessing for testing purposes for precision and if it fits you'd flip it symmetrically. Do you have access to a 3d printer? I should've asked after your initial post, but I think I refrained because you stated you ordered the part through shapeways already.

Wow! Those backpack quant pictures are great. It looks like Bandai already put in the legwork of making both sides symmetrical by adding a second arm installation point.  Maybe all that needs to be done to test this is to unscrew the cover and see if you can attach the same arm but on the other side of the back pack.

Thanks, but unfortunately the metal arm is not symmetrical enough to just buy a 2nd qant and reverse the positioning. There's a small metal tab that sits further back (on the bottom) and I'm sure the small detail/pattern isn't repeated on the back side of the metal piece.

  6. Wow 150 for the qant is a great price! Yea i think the main reason why i didnt do the mod was even if I picked up a 2nd qant and reverse/flip the arm for the shield (and used both left shoulders for symmetry), the metal semi-circular base under the backpack was asymmetrical.

Now if i had one of those fancy metal 3d printers then I would've probably attempted it... XD

Edit: I guess when I get home I'll see if i can dig it up.

  7. @Jaustin89 I would but mine is already buried... lol. I did look at it extensively (I have access to a 3d printer, cad software, etc.). Iirc it would take an entire rework of the blue plastic housing that the metal arm is connected to and i think it was reinforced by quarter semi metal ring that the base of the metal arm was casted/molded into. It might've been nailed/rivited in as well... lol.

So to combine the two would require cutting the blue painted plastic backpack bracket, finding enough room to accommodate the 2nd metal arm. If both metal arms have a semi-circular shape to contour to the qant's backpack (the qant has that gn particle container through its chest and sticks out the back).

Or just better off redesigning one from scratch and have it 3d printed.

Unless you plan to use the qant's left shoulder for the exia r4. Then this would/might be the opposite.

Since we all know that NYCC is this weekend (or next), are we hoping to see any new stuff from the large 1/6th companies and some of the 3rd party versions as well?

Really? I'm in NYC and wasn't aware it was this week... XD. *ends joking sarcasm*

Comic con? NY normally has it Sept/Oct.

So far it's been getting earlier and earlier every year in Oct. Usually the first or 2nd weekend (thurs-sun).

I've never been a fan of the Quanta design but that's just 'cause it looks horribly un-balanced; I'll probably get one of these and a Quanta in the hope of rigging up a mostly symmetrical Quanta with both shoulder attachments.

If it works it seems like it should look like an actual upgrade of the 00 Raiser.

Yea I thought about that too sometime ago with buying a second mb qant, modifying it heavily and its a no go.

Not gonna work. The shoulder armaments are attached to the backpack. There's not enough space for 2 backpacks even.

Exactly. To modify one backpack to fit two shields would require some major cutting, restructuring and support for the 2nd shield/armament.

    EDIT:

I'll just hope and wait for bandai to eventually release the extra armament version... lol

You could also maybe try Gentei Kits, but I can't really give any feedback as I have yet to try them.

That was the other site I was thinking of but it wasn't coming to me. XD

Could also try these at a later time (they might not have it listed yet) gundamplanet, usagundam, newtypehq

I received the Metal Kingdom Aile Strike today. Other than some of the TAMPO markings being a bit lighter than the original's and even having a couple markings the original doesn't have, it is damn near identical and appears to have the same level of detail and quality as the original. There may be some minor differences in paint finish but just different, not worse. The die cast metal seems to have a shinier appearance than the original's but it also isn't a bad thing. Early product photos don't do it justice and if you didn't have it next to the Bandai figure, you'd probably never know it was a KO

    you're welcome... XD

Here is one that was shipped later and has had the same tracking

    Spoiler

    image.png.06975c564a86081cb9dcaaf388e0d097.png

I think I am going to ask for refunds. I did ask for a refund on the Zeta Bumblebee and have not had a response for 3 days.

My MN White Dragon was shipped Priority Mail International Parcels out from ShowZStore on the 20th before flights from china were being closed off (I think it was the 22nd), and I still got my item. I think the MN WD was just sitting at port stateside because the US was backed up and their union workers had the hibbie jibbees (aside from them being soooo slow already). Maybe your item is at a holding at some port just awaiting for clearance?

    EDIT:

Even looking at it now, my shipment started on the 20th but didn't processed out of china until the 21st. USPS gave me a bunch of crap about it being out for delivery the 6th (after it was cleared through ISC the 5th), but failed with no updates, later on the 11th stating it was undeliverable due to an incomplete address and then undeliverable yesterday which caused me to go down there in person to pick it up.
