  1. So I made this thread so that we can discuss the YF-19 NOTHUNG/ACTIVE without having to sift through the Macross Ride thread. Eh, I think these variants look cool, unique, and I'd like to know more about them. Is there a NOTHUNG made for military use, like armed and stuff? Has there been anything comparing the YF-19 ACTIVE to the VF-25 with regards to capabilities?
  2. He is MUCH easier to transform than WFC Bumblebee...which is a PITA but looks awesome in both modes. Cross fingers the Arcee we are getting kicks ass, same for Warpath and Starscream: Generations Arcee And Warpath Listed
  3. Haven't heard of arm breakages on the Bird of Prey/Double Nuts YF-19 and recent reissue YF-19 in a lighter beige/tan. VF-0A reissue is in a box sans flap, and no reported arm breakages.
  4. Bring on the BLAZER! Fire Valk looks great in battroid, hope Yamato incorporated a lot of ratchets and detents. Will wait for the 1st reviews and might pick one up in summer. Need to catch up with my V2 1/60 VF-1's 1st.
  5. Images of battroid mode, articulation, et al, will be the deal-breaker for me. Hope it's as good as a toy as the DX 27 if not better.
  6. Well more like they can't even if they wanted to.
  7. Joint floppiness happens in no time, it got to my VF-25S in within the span of just a few months. I hate loose joints.
  8. While I think the bigger items Yamato is making are promising, I don't think the high end $400+ items are going to be the norm, in fact, I wouldn't expect more than 1 per year. I mean what else are they going to release? Maybe a TV SDF-1, then what? The Megaroad? They want something that has a lot of appeal and will sell, and recognizability amongst most fans is key. They can't release something like Macross Galaxy. Maybe we'll finally see the Monster, but aside from that and possibly the TV SDF-1, I see little else beyond a 1/60 Monster repaint. They know fans want the 1/60 Monster and at this point, perhaps their engineering has advanced to the point where the cannons will not sag unlike the original prototype from years back. Also while the SDF-1 has a simple transformation, a more telling indicator of price is how many parts it's made of. The more parts to cut tools for, the higher the price. Looks like it's got a lot of small parts to me. To reduce the price, some of the bigger parts could be simplified and molded in less parts, but Yamato probably wouldn't go that route because that would mean sacrificing the very level of detail they are known for. I won't be buying the SDF-1 because honestly, the VF's always appealed more to me. The Macross is important and I understand its relevance, but I like VF's better. I do hope that this recent experience in incorporating a good amount of ratchets on the SDF-1 is a sign that Yamato will use them more in future releases, like the VF-19(s). A pet peeve of mine is when joints get loose!
  9. Dunno, I might be wrong, but I don't think the Mighty Block stands were a success for Yamato.
  10. Gut instinct is that the YF-29 will be used a lot in the next movie, hence Bandai's quickness to start a DX toy and 1/100 plamo. Hopefully it will build upon the DX VF-27 and turn out to be a far better toy than both that and the DX VF-25.
  11. We will, it's been retooled with a few new parts too.
  12. None yet, has been absent from recent Japanese Hobby mags and Tamashii hasn't posted anything new on their site, or shown anything at Tamashii Nations for it.
  13. This isn't about Bandai. They have screwups of their own and anyone reading my posts already knows I won't be buying another DX VF-25 until it is either redesigned or a new one built from scratch is made. Yamato makes some good Valkyrie toys but the quality control problems mar otherwise great releases. We had what, 3-4 releases before Yamato told the factory workers to switch to smooth pins on the V2 1/60 VF-1, something that may have not happened had fans here had not spoken up, and had Graham not forwarded their concerns to Yamato. Before that, Graham hadn't experienced the shoulder breakages and IIRC he was surprised at how many requests he got for shoulder hinge replacements. Even then someone at the factory level decided that the VT-1 should have the knurled hinges. The fact that mere pins could lead to breakage of important parts on the toy could be avoided via more play-testing before final production. Yamato has been making Macross toys for what, over the past 10 years(going by initial prototypes for Toycom's 1/72 Macross Plus line)? I get that their ambition is harder to translate when it comes to complicated designs and that they will run into problems. Yet more play-testing before final production to work out all the kinks before release won't hurt them. Less broken toys to replace/repair for them, the cheaper, and the better it is for them.
  14. Bad quality control hurts sales, thereby hurting Yamato. It's gotten better through the years with the occasional hiccup here and there. Graham can sometimes chime in on our behalf, so I don't think anyone should stop giving constructive criticism. We all know your love for your V2 1/60 VF-1J Hikaru Custom that hasn't suffered a shoulder breakage whatsoever but imagine someone who loved theirs just as much and received a breakage. Even if a fan were in Japan and could get parts quickly by Yamato, a breakage is a breakage and disappointing. Again though, quality control has gotten better, let's hope it's consistent and gets even better in the future. They are going where other manufacturers don't out of necessity; with a low birth rate, Yamato's target audience is the older collector, upping their ante on collector's toys is the only way for them to really go.
  15. Did, still falls.
  16. Doesn't stay open on my Renewal YF-21 either.
  17. Same on mine, but I think if I can access the screw in question, it may help on mine. The neck does not swivel much on mine, so I hope I can at least free up some clearance.
  18. Freaking beautiful!
  19. There are nubs on the diecast swing bars that are meant to keep the underside of the nose in place/flush against the back. If that screw pictured in above posts is not sticking out too far, the nose should be able to go down further, stay in place securely, and the neck should have more clearance to swivel.
  20. Actually, the same thing may have happened to the Renewal YF-21, the head on mine does not turn much, chest does not lock into place, and neck is not as exposed. Might open up the section in question and see what's up.
  21. HLJ now lists it as a January release.
  22. Hey guys, which variant of the Harrier was best for A2A? Also...in the spirit of previous incarnations of this thread... F-18L VS F/A-18D Had the former been introduced, which would have been the best attacker for the Marines?
  23. My YF-21 Renewal Ver. has a canopy that will no longer stay open. Not sure if I messed something up when transforming the nose, noticed that the seat will go back to regular position once the nose is transformed for fighter/gerwalk. Hopefully didn't break something. The nubs on the metal swing bars for the YF-21, that keep the nose locked down, do not provide enough tension on my Renewal Ver. I suspect mold degradation. Satisfied with my release but I think those of you with the initial release have a better toy.
