Another data point would be the release date - Dec 2006 or June 2007 with fold booster? My 2007 unit was OK when I boxed it last year.
Graham you had 2x 2006 units when writing the original review. Is the second one still fine?

Original high-res from Yamato's blog:
http://www.yamato-toys.com/blog/index.php?logid=334
They haven't decide on the color between close-to-black or more blueish. At least they borrowed a re-mastered DVD set for reference.

but they also have a picture and a sign featuring the 3 vf-1 kits.
Yeah looks like they are selling unpainted version with VF-1A and VF-1J head.
-
^^
Google translate gave "VF-17S, VF-19S/P/F", "a kit version of the Phalanx", and a nasty warning about don't leak photos.

From what I gathered from previous posts by other members, they seem to be Fold-boost-generators (1st of its kind from what I also gathered too, I may be wrong though)
I remember reading something like that - fold wave/signal booster, kind of like a sound booster that works for Vajra.
-
http://www.samueldecal.com/ also sell 1:72 Regult decal.
-
I was hopping for AmiAmi keeping the good price...

We will see more when they show it in WonderFest 2011 on July 24th, hopefully without too much "no photo" signs in the way...

The best part with M&M is you can do fancy pose and it feels natural for them. Mine has been standing like this on my PC for a while:
Now, base on this drawing from Tenjin Hidetaka:
They will not stay that way long term - it's hard to avoid touching paint on the wing's upper surface.

K, thanks for the heads up. Btw, if anyone can, can someone post a pic of the yf-19 bop with a fold booster and/or FAST packs. Just wanna see before I commit.
There are some in the drunk valks comic:

I would rather wait and see if Yamato will extend the VF-19 mold to make YF-19 v2.

Is this yf-19 reissue still available anywhere?
I can only find the BoP colour.

Is there anywhere selling the VF-1J Max?
Just saw one listed here:

You missed the sale 1.5 year ago:

I missed the VE-1 from that one too...

CG vs DX V2 fighter
Highest res images I can find for the new DX:

I think I will wait to see how the add-on will come out first, and wait for a VF-25G super/tornado.

Are these pics from Bandai's site?
Found it here:

Which looks like standard press release pic they release to hobby stores.

And yes I agree in the actual cartoon landing gears are useful, and I agree with the usage of them for hangar storage (poor destroids don't get landing gears, I wonder why?) just that if given a choice between missile and landing gear to get scrapped I say landing gear, since personally I can deal with popping them off and on just like extra hands, side covers or intake covers.
Take a look again:
The missile bay take a large volume. It don't seems to conflict with the landing gears, but conflict with the gun storage and any hinges they would want inside the legs.

I always wondered why Bandai didn't make it right from the beginning –as they did with the 1/72- considering they always had de very accurate CG designs…
Bandai Hobby, who make models and HCM toys, and Bandai Collector, who make collectible toys, works like different company and often compete with each other. We can see them use separate tables in the same trade shows, and run their own separate trade show like Gunpla Festival v.s. Tamashii Festival. Here is a similar observation from an employee of the official US distributor of Bandai.
And the models are not that 'perfect'. Sure they look good from a skilled model builder, but they are really fragile and difficult to play with. The sticker and decal are too translucent and looks poor on dark color units, see example. There are other problems like oversize landing gears.
