Well it's my first order with A-E. I hope they can actually get them. The situation in Hong Kong is quite a frenzy.
If this was Hasbro, they'd have a billion of these different variants out already. It's the obvious thing to do. But who knows what Bandai is thinking at this point?
Most of those Hasbro stuff are also MSRP at less than $20 and probably cost them $4 each to bulk make and ship, and they can market them to the whole planet. These high-end $200+ "thing" are completed models that adult fans would buy, not some toy that a parent would buy for their kids. They would loss money if they made 2000 units from the factory but all the shops in Asia could only sell 400. Which is why we are not seeing the Yamato Phalanx and more stuff are going the direct web order route. Bandai didn't made enough YF-29 in the first batch probably because the movie wasn't doing well, and it was the first of the DX-v2 from a different designer so most people waited for the reviews after the disappointments with DXv1.
I expect any more YF-29 and VF-25 DXv2 re-color will be web limited.

Question why is it and one other thing separated from the othe releases? There is some script above it, what does it say?
Chris
The 2012-05 product list? The top list are new products, the botton list after the red text are re-issues.
-
YF-29 reissue is 100% confirmed on the 2012-05 release list from Bandai's own web site:
-
Never shopped at mandrake, is it a proxy seller or do you buy it directly from them?
It is a store chain with multiple shops all over Japan. They specialize is re-selling anime products - toys, manga (so much hentai, site is blocked at my work), anime. They are good for items you may have missed out earlier or items that is hard to find in regular stores. Price is close in eBay in general but you can find good deals if the item is not popular in Japan.
-
Does anyone know what the ad says about "parts get more revision"?
All the text were the same from the original release - they were comparing it with the 1:2000 HDP model.
-
Yeah according to Cyber Gundam Blog:
http://blog.yahoo.com/cybergundam/articles/617369/index
Not confirmed with shop listing yet, but likely to be true - it would be 11 months after 1st release, and the re-issue most likely will not come with the poster.
-
They should make a SD Macross.

$85 Joke machine! Oh... box only.

I guess I got a good deal when I got a like-new set for $146.

Gamu Toys review:

http://gamu-toys.info/goukin/gouki/dx20/dx2002.html
Damn it do I sell my DXv1 Ozma armor set and get both v2+armor, or just get armor for my DXv2 Alto?
-
If you look at the quality of the new metal composite origin gundam vs. some of the newer macross releases, the differences and superiority of the Gundam are astonishing on many levels.
Huh? The Bandai high end toy quality are about the same - SOC vs Metal composite vs DX Macross. And Bandai is equally tight-ass about re-issue of quickly sold out items i.e. Metal Grade 00 v.s. YF-29.

Just saw it listed in some shops:

This just blow my mine. Can you see the big difference?
There are quite alot of color difference between the two, and they better have painted missiles on both instead just all red as shown on the Ozma armor. But the big one I just noticed is the way missle hatch opens on the chest armor. In the anime that hatch had been shown to open either way with both units. We had a bit of a debate here years ago but Bandai settled it with the DXv1, VF-100 and 1:72 model all used the middle hinges, but now decide to surprise us with a little more than color difference between the 2 unit.
Also the pre-order deadlines for the super packs is at Jan 16th.

No it's beacuse Yamato have been told to hold off on releasing further Mac 7 toys to coincide with the release later this year of a non-Yamato Macross 7 product.
Probably Macross 7 Blu-Ray Box, a few months after the SDF Macross BD set.

The Yamato 1:60v2 VF-1J with grey goggle was originally came only with the GBP-1A Armor bundle set: http://www.hlj.com/product/YMT00198
It was later sold as a stand alone later on Yamato's web shop and on HLJ: http://www.hlj.com/product/YMTGK-07

About the perfect memory reprint: "縮刷版" means it's a reduced size version or pocket edition, right?

Almost all the official art shows the external armament---but people don't realize they're looking at it!
I think a lot of people miss that the "long skinny humps" all over the VF-4 *are* the missiles.
I am well aware of that.
In short--it doesn't need pylons on the wings (there's not much room anyways) because it's already carrying a decent load all over the fuselage.
No they need the pylons. They don't usually use them for stealth, but they must be able to carry reaction missiles when needed, and those missiles are still huge at 2059.
Hey Graham---could you make sure Yamato is aware of this? They should be painted a different color than the main fuselage, and even making them removable could be one heck of a neat feature. Just make sure they don't sculpt them on as "part of the valk itself".
2nd that. The only problem with removable missile is the tab/plug v.s hole location - the side with tab/plug will be more ugly, but good sculpturing can hide them in plain sight as "high tech stuff".
-
OK I want to talk about external armaments. First some reference from the Mcross Mecha Manual:
- Armament -
Guns:
- 2 x large beam cannons (mounted in forward engine nacelles/lower arms in GERWALK and Battroid modes); blocks can be detached and operate with removable, lightweight equipment within an atmosphere
Bombs & Missiles:
- 12 x semi-recessed long range missiles (mounted on engine nacelles and ventral fuselage)
- 2 x underwing pylons for missiles
Optional Armament:
- 1 x Howard GU-11 55 mm three-barrel Gatling gun pod with 200 rds fired at 1,200 rds/min
But none of the official line art I can find show any external armament, and of course none is shown in "Macross 2012". VF-4 is featured in PS1 game "Macross Digital Mission VF-X" and Dreamcast game "Macross M3", do it ever shown with external armament there? I am sure the VF-4 in PS2 game "SDF Macross" didn't.
Then I search around a bit and found this custom model work from here:
And I also found this bit from the Club M VF-4 model:
That leg mounted gun is not GU-11 (the gun from VF-1) and it looks like a generic gun that Club M added. Mounting the gun off center make sense for VF-4, due to the ventral fin under the fighter nose.
Basically Yamato has quite a bit of freedom in this department since VF-4 is suppose to be able carry external weapons but never animated. What I think Yamato should do with the VF-4 is to have missile mount points that is compatible with the missiles from 1:60 v2 VF-1 - one under each main wing, and two under the main body between the engine nacelles. They don't need to include the missiles - most who would order a web limited VF-4 would already have a lot of extra missiles from their VF-1 collection. And since these mount points are not on a variable geometry wing, they can make them recessed in the body v.s. extruded disc on the VF-1.
The external gun is a bit tricky, but I really would like to give those hands something to hold. At the very least the hands should be able to hold a GU-11 gun. I think Yamato should at least in an adapter to mount a GU-11 gun somewhere under the body in fighter mode, unless they come up with a new gun design.

Ok so it is a toy... I think this is the first all new Yamato VF toy that is not a recolor or with special bonus part to be online shop exclusive. So they are copying from Bandai Tamashii Shop and produce new high risk model base on actual demand. Given the forever 50% off on all the VF-22 I can understand where they came from.
HLJ is likely to let us pre-order it, and should save us some proxy cost. So far they only missed the magazine exclusives like weathered 1/60v2 VF-1S Hikaru (unless reissued, like VFX and Angel Bird), and the 1/60 GBP-1A Armor set with smoke effect parts.
Bad for us: many here would at least wait for initial reviews to order and VF from Yamato or Bandai, since most had got broken units. With this release mode you either pre-order at regular price and take the risk of getting broken product, or wait and see and pay extreme price if it turns out to be good. Well it can happen to a general release too, like the Bandai YF-29 I missed.
Graham can you get Yamato to send you and their other buddy like GA Graphic a advanced production model for preview a few weeks before closing the pre-order?

Can only find the low quality scan for now
Edit: yes it's from February 2012 Dengeki Hobby magazine

I emailed parts@hlj.com on Thurs night and have not received a respond. Is there a different email address?
HLJ tells you to use trouble@hlj.com . "parts' is for ordering extra parts.
Consider sending this link too: http://samada08.blog10.fc2.com/blog-entry-1779.html
Showing Bandai is sending replacement to their Japanese customers too.
++ on the strong clips between intake and body. I always use a screw driver to gently pop both legs off before doing more.

Here are some eBay listing of Takatoku with box pics.

Broken metal bar had been reported before:
http://samada08.blog10.fc2.com/blog-entry-1774.html
Then he got a full replacement from Bandai later:

Good luck with HLJ replacement.

The problem with new LCD or Plasma TVs is they make lousy stands for Valks.
So that's why you keep that old CRT... You should get Yamato to make some new stands that can be safely wall mounted.

I had that on my default browser tab and it was already "order-stop" this morning (9am EST) like all the other shops except A-E, likely because A-E only allows one unit per customer. A-E pre-order was also closed sometime in the afternoon.
If you missed it, keep checking. Also email your favorite stores to get them to order more from Bandai.
