  1. GUYS JUST JELLOS DMIT IT YOU KNOW. BECAUSE ROBOTECH LIVE ACTION MOVIE GOING TO BE MADE AND MACROSS FOREVER CARTOON FOR NIETZSCHE PEOPLE. FACT OF THE MATTER IS THAT LIVE ACTION MOVIE LIKE TRANSFORMERS WILL BE TRUE TO SPIRIT AND THIS IS GOOD BECAUSE ROBOTECH IS MUCH SPIRIT UNLIKE MACROSS WHICH ALWAYS VERY BLAND. ANYWAYS, REASON WHY YOU NOT WANTING RLAM IS SIMPLE": JELLOS! JELLOS JELLOS! IS MY OPINION I HAVE RIGHT TO SAY IT. MEMODOMINION113435345 (NOT TRYING TO FLAME HERE GUYS LOL!) ---- Pete Putting the MEMO back in the HG/RT Debates
  2. WELL HG JUST PROTECTING ITS INTERESTS BUDDY YOU KNOW? TELL ME - HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT FROM MACROSSWORLD.COM BANNING PEOPLE WHO CRITICIZE QC OF YAMATO TOYS? OH WAIT... Pete Putting the Memo Back into the HG/RT Debates!
  3. Correct me if I'm wrong - but didn't Max fly his 1A pretty much throughout SDFM TV? I mean - his blue 1J didn't show up until towards the end of the series, yet he was made a squad leader soon after returning to earth because everyone else was dead and he had some experience. Also, he was an ace and he was an ace who flew a 1A. My point is, I don't think this "equation" actually holds that much water even in the TV series. Personally, I really like the 1J, particularly Hikaru's colors and the Hikaru 1J will always be the definitive Hikaru for me... The rank thing is just a rule of thumb... In DYRL, I did kind of miss the 1J, but not alot since we got the VT-1 Pete
  4. Note to Agent 1: Psst! Remember to mention something about Macross 7 and Bassara in your more off-topic posts, even if they are replies to other peoples' off-topic posts. This way you can always get away with being off topic on the technicalilty that actually, you tied it all back to the topic. Kind of like that one episode of Macross 7 where Bassara quits the band and goes "off topic" insofar as going off to look for his soul or something is kind of an aside to the main plot. Pete
  5. BJM: Re: Igloo... the Igloo that I watched was about a Zeon pilot and a Zeon crew trying to shoot down launching Fed ships... I think it was igloo. It was kind of boring and I don't like CGI people... but also...I didn't have a clue what any of it was about since I hadn't seen MSG so didn't even really understand who or what Zeon was...who the Feds were etc... As to Turn-A... I just watched episode 8 again - having seen it two years or so ago alone without any prior knowledge of Gundam or of Turn-A... Now...watching it in sequence - it's such a powerful episode. A great great episode. Love it. Oh well... off I go to panel line my Turn-A Gundam Pete
  6. I like body building. Ever since I started working out, I've found that I can smoke and drink more without feeling like my lungs are going to ooze out my nose, or my liver is going to explode. I'm slowly building to actually being able to lift those huge barbell things... but it'll be a while. For now I just do an hour on the exercise bike and then take turns on all those contraptions for weight lifting where you don't actually lift the barbell things but instead you have these machines...I dunno...you know what I'm talking about...they are made to tone and build particular muscles and it varies depending on what machine you get on... It's interesting because I'm kind of learning and getting the hang of it. I only work out once a week though - can't really afford more... The key is to keep going at it and not give up. As for the gay thing - yeah - kind of in a Borat like way. Lots of sweaty guys, and in Eastern Europe EVERYBODY who is a total stranger HAS TO great you. It's seriously just like in Borat. Remember that scene in the NYC subway where Borat is going around saying "hello, My name a Borat. It nice to meet you" and everybody freaks? That's 'cause Americans like their private space; and I still have those sensibilities even though I've been here for so many years... so... in the gym...I'm just peddling away on the bike and every single sweaty guy in there feels compelled to come up to me, shake my hand and say "Hi, my name is..." And I have no choice but to also say "Hi. My name is Peter. Nice to meet you." It's just the way things are. Thankfully nobody here kisses you. I'd have to go further east for that Um... but... anyways - the Bassara/Body Builder analogy was just my attempt at getting A1 to see a positive side to Bassara. I have said it a millio times - the execution of Macross 7 could have been better. And if you don't particularly like Fire Bomber - it makes it a lot harder to forgive some of the more problematic features of the anime. It just so happens I love Fire Bomber - so I have less trouble taking in Macross 7. Now if I could only find some kind of sports club where I could get in a game of basketball... really miss those... Pete
  7. YOUR SENSE NOT MINE IS AN OPINION AND FREE COUNTRY SO YOU CAN KNOW IT. ANYWAYS STILL WRONG ABOUT ROBOTECH AND HG SO NO HOC ADDING ISNT DOING ANYTHING RIGHT FOR THE COMMUNITY BROTHER. JUST FLYI MEMODOMINOION1111XL (NOT FLAMING HERE)
  8. I think they're ok. The Mice I don't want because I don't use a mouse - just a touch pad on my laptop. Blaster is cool too. But again..G1... although... then again... Guess what the ONE non-G1 Transformer I have and find I can't get rid of is?.... MP3 Soundwave! Because...well... he actually functions as an MP3 and I use him a lot... well - less now that I have a car and can listen to CDs on my car system... but before I had a car, when I went everywhere by bus and tram and the like- Soundwave was always with me to give me some nice Fire Bomber tunes to listen to! So... While I don't find myself needing these particular devices - I think the line in general has promise because abstracting from the figure - the provision of practical items is a good idea. Even a G1 purist like me can't find a good reason to sell off my MP3 Soundwave... Pete
  9. Well, I think that perhaps Bandai's models help in this regard. No matter how tangled and complex the shows - the models keep getting better and better, and it's really only a matter of time before someone who has started building them gets a little bit interested in the actual shows. That said, I will admit that it would be really tough to be consistent and watch everything. I feel compelled to pick and choose - and not just because of the sheer volume, but because I am drawn to certain things more and others less. SEED and Igloo put me to sleep. MSG was ok. Turn-A looks great (besides, I always thought the Turn-A-Gundam design was the best of them all)... But if I were really tanacious, I'd go through all of it from start to finish instead of hopping around Pete
  10. Bleh I like the way the crew looks just fine in MSG. Those character designs (in that pic) are aweful... or at least they are bad re-interpretations... I have nothing against their looks. My problem is that Amuro is a boring character and the ending is convoluted...but I wrote a lot about that above... But..no. Don't like those designs. Pete

  12. Actually, that's a good idea. Gubaba - start your own anime and Manga company. Bring over and translate little known manga and anime - there has to be a ton of stuff which even people who go looking for it...don't know about. I mean - ultimately those of us who only know english or anothe non-Japanese language and who haven't been to Japan, don't have friends there and haven't seen first hand what's available know only what is filtered to us through sites like this one. You should seriously think about it. Or try to get a job as a translator with an existing anime company - try to land some freelance work in the beginning. Just throw caution to the wind and get cracking Pete
  13. Man...just when episode 1 pulled me in with all those naked chicks taking baths, it's now just war, war, war, mecha, mecha, mecha, honor, honor, honor, intrigue, intrigue, intrigue...for 4 whole episodes. I've just seen 2-5 and naturally I like the story - but I really miss the mood from episode 1. See - to me, just the very idea of someone living on the moon in a civilization that is technologically advanced and a remnant of a futuristic past coming to an Earth that has technologically regressed is interesting in and of itself. But then again - I shouldn't complain. They got one whole episode of a great character story in without any mecha action... so kudos to Tomino for that achievement. As for the remaining episodes... I strikes me as odd that having communicated with the Moonrace for 2 years, Gieren wasn't able to work out some kind of deal, to come to some kind of arrangement whereby the Moonrace would be accomidated. More - it strikes me as quadruppally odd that the Moonrace, who clearly have lots of space ships, couldn't just immigrate to Earth the old fashioned way - voluntarily. I mean - if conditions on the moon were so bad or if people just wanted to go back to Earth...couldn't they have hoped a FLAT or something and just come on down? It's hardly efficient to invade a planet in order to have your people just move in and live there alongside the existing residents... I guess I'm just finding it hard to believe that there was no commerce or other interaction between the two races. I can understand why the people of Earth couldn't go there...but why didn't the people from the Moon go down to Earth? Weren't there any good business oportunities down there? Pete
  14. Simple. As you said - there are "billions" of Transformers. Part of what makes Transformers fun is that you have tons of robots, all with different personalities and abilities. Now, as much as I appreciate the level of detail that Masterpiece presents they are...ironically...not very good in terms of playability. I like making comics with my Transformers toys and having adventures with them. And it just doesn't work with Masterpiece. It's a task to transform them back and forth - and there range is so limited in terms of how many characters there are. I'll probably be like 90 by the time there are at least 10 different MP characters - and by then I'll be even less able to play with them Now - I realize this is kind of a cop out, since the modern toys are more poseable than G1, and thus more "playable" and yet still simple in terms of transformations...and here I am critiquing MPs for lacking what the modern toys I also don't like have but... I guess in the end I just am overwhelmed by all the different TF lines and varients - and as I said above - I just made a choice: one line, for consistency's sake - and that line is G1 - where I have a huge variety of characters, good playability, sometimes better sometimes worse poseability, and also the nostalgia factor. Maybe not - but apparently it is under consideration. Pete
  15. Yeah, I use tweezers to set them down too, but the cue-tips don't work for me in terms of of actually applying them.... I guess I'll try the "straight down" approach... but the paint brush is really simpler. You just well...you know...umm...stroke the brush...and bingo - it's down. No problem at all. Anyways - obviously I've still go a way to go. I'll post my progress as it is made (after all, this is supposed to be an epic journey) I'll try the cue-tip method again. Pete
  16. >reads quewstions. >>tries to think. >>>head explodes. Pete
  17. I'm going to vote "no - not now" because I suspect with the tight economy, R&D money is in short supply and I really would rather Yamato develop more Macross items or give us VFX figures of Macross characters. In principle of course I have nothing against them trying but... I just worry that it would syphon off resources from Macross. But maybe if I go watch Mospedea, I'll change my mind. Pete
  18. I'm two episodes in and will likely be much deeper in by the evening. So far I'm totally loving it! Lots of naked chicks Yay! Actually, I must admit that I'm having a sense that Macross Frontier's main trio was somewhat based on these three... Loran being called Lora (kind of like Alto is called Princess - and both are efeminete). And the two main sisters are total Ranka/Sheryl combo... especially the older sister who, when naked, looks just like Sheryl. I wonder if she and Sheryl has the same sized boobs, or if Sheryl's are bigger? Watch for more hard hitting, intellient analysis as I go deeper into the series. Pete
  19. In that case here's something to consider: Who has the rights to Macross in Costa Rica? If I'm not mistaken, Costa Rica is a protectorate of the USA, but not a state, and thereby not the United States. So... does it fall under the category of "international" or "domestic" ? Discuss. Pete
  20. That's because there comes a point where the only purpose this thread can possibly serve is pure sarcasm and irony. I mean... as has been mentioned a dozen times before - there's not really much debate here. It's like...lots of people log on to proclaim the banal news that 2 + 2 is 4. Then sometimes somebody like Memo logs on to say NO ITS' FIVE AND A HALF BECAUSE ANIME-LOVERS.COM SAYS SO. Then poor Seto spends hours posting complex mathematical equations and proofs, to which Memo replies LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FIRE, followed by the likes of Whamhammer posting things like "Hey! 2 plus 2 IS FIVE guys!" and the Gubaba being like "what!? How can you say that!? Where is your evidence?!" to which Whamhammer is like "Oh - my bad. Typo." And on it goes :-) Not that I'm complaining. I find this to be one of the more entertaining threads on the boards - and it's much better to have it open rather than closed. Still...sometimes it's hard to know what to write :-) Pete
  21. Don't forget that Sarah spent her time doing love sticks for all the guys in the village... this alone should make her one of the most popular Macross girls in history...but no...nobody likes Sarah... :-( Pete
  22. Imagine how I felt when I bought Mephisto in Berlin, thinking it would "obviously" have english subs and...lo and behold it was ONLY in German. You tell me man - I only work here... Pete
  23. I have just begun building my 1/72 Alto, and am going to be applying the Sheryl Nome waterslide decals part-by-part as I proceed. I have previously built a 1/72 Ozma, so I have the model kit pretty well figured out in terms of what goes where. I decided to apply the decals bit by bit because I fear that the finished fighter would be too delicate to get a good grip on as the decals are applied. Please note that I am a modeling noobie (relatively speaking) who is gloating. This is my FIRST EVER attempt at applying water slide decals. I read a 4 step guide that I got off of google, and away I go! This Alto comes with the Super Pack - and I will have to decide whether to build and add that or not? In any event - I have read that one ought not transform a Sheryled out Alto because the decals are even less stable than usual? Does this mean I should pretty much be prepared to build him in fighter mode and leave it that way? Any tips or advise from people who have applied their Sheryl Decals? Here's what I've got so far: I realize that they ought to be a bit lower - but keep in mind I was more concerned that the thing would melt in the water or fly apart or that bubbles would be left underneath or that some other terrible event would destroy everything... so I was just happy to get them on there. And it is so wierd that you do in deed need a paint brush to fasten them on in the final stage... I wonder what it is about a paint brush that fastens them, while cue-tips only move the entire thing around? Is it that the paint brush dries them and that fastens them? Impressive stuff this! Pete
  24. Oh yes, I'd almost forgotten Zambot 3, which (little of it that I've watched) was awesome.... Any how... I'm looking forward to Turn-A-Gundam. All I've seen up to now is episode 8. I wanted to know what the deal with that Mastergrade cow was, which is why I watched it. Hopefully now as I'll be watching the whole series through, it'll be even more thoroughly enjoyable. The "problem" with Gundam is that there's just too much to enjoy in one sitting. Veteran fans at least have been at this for quite some time. Coming to Gundam as a newbie is...awe inspiring... Anyhow... I'm happy. I just applied my...oh...well... that's OFF TOPIC...I'll take some pictures and go gloat in another thread! Pete
