  1. My only consolation will be the answers to this interview... I just need to finally get my butt to Japan.... but it would be easier if there was something like Anime-Fanwank-Macross week or something on a seasonal basis. Then I could convince my girlfriend to go with me for a week or two and make a nice vacation out of it. But sadly, there probably isn't anything like that and it's hard as heck to organize a longer trip around one event - be it concert, convention or whatever... Ah well - maybe the Warsaw Philharmonic can one day be seduced to doing something this cool...in Warsaw!! And yeah - I can tell you're excited!! Cheer 'em on!! Pete
  2. Ummm... no. I actually wouldn't be averse to a remake. I mean - if it looked, felt and went something along the lines of Macross First, then it would be cool. The real problem with a remake would be the music. DYRL was close enough to SDFM TV that they didn't change the music scores - although there was less singing and beyond Shao Pai Lon, Zero G Love and couple others, there was just one main "new" song - err...DYRL being that song of course... But now with a modern remake I just can't see Minmey singing anything else. And that would be the biggest fear - that would ruin it. If they totally changed Minmey's music. And they probably would "have to"... So...yeah - maybe it would be better if they didn't do that No remake I understand some people feeling that way. But me- I was lucky. I watched SDFMTV and then DYRL and then Macross 7 and Zero JUST BEFORE Macross Frontier came out. It was amazing - I got into this ancient anime from the 80s and 90s and then suddenly there's a continuation being made right when I basically get done with Macross Zero So for me - it was all rolled up into one - it's like a saga and I don't feel like there's this division in my life between "back then there was DYRL and now there's this new thing" - it's all one sensation for me. Besides - I definitely will be watching and enjoying and remembering Macross Frontier 15 years from now. I'll probably remember it even more fondly than I think of it today. It's the best! woo... And I'm glad there's younger fans who are getting into Macross because of it. I mean - give Shadow Strikers some credit. He could be getting into something a lot lamer! Pete
  3. ALL YOUR CHOGOKIN ARE BELONG TO DANGAURD ACE! Pete
  4. THE EPIC BATTLE BEGINS!! Pete
  5. Hey all, Just to update: I emailed the gentleman today asking whether he had gotten all of the interview questions I sent him, to which he replied: TRANSLATION: "Yes, I got the interview questionaire. It is very very long and it requires that I do a lot of checking and we are now in Tokio where tomorrow we will end our tournee in Japan with a concert with Yoko Kanno..." Naturally I wrote back a fanwank response: TRANSLATION: "Thanks for confirming that you got the interview questions. I will wait patiently along with the 9 thousand registered users at Macrossworld.com who are big Yoko Kanno fans, and indirectly therefore big fans of the Warsaw Philharmonic. Many of them live in Japan and will likely also be at the concert you are performing in Tokio. We all wish you the best success, thank you for your great music and await with great curiosity the answers to the interview questions." Naturally - the fanboy in me envisions that he will go directly to Yoko Kanno to inquire about some of the questions in the interview, which would be so utterly cool In any event - let us be patient and wish them the best! Pete
  6. I shall forever remain an Asuka fan Pete
  7. MMMNNNFFFRRRRLUCKY YOU!!! Lucky lucky lucky!! Waaah! But I'm glad to hear you liked it. The last thing we need is a BAD EVA movie and more "oh no - it's another EVA movie" comments It better come out on...err...something or other!...soon Pete
  8. Yay. Got the VF-25G and the RVF-25 today. Naturally I'm... not so much dissapointed as kind of scratching my head about that sniper rifle an the landing gear... But I explain it to myself thus: He's not supposed to ever land on the landing gear with the sniper rifle on his belly. He's mainly a space-combat mecha. He DOCKS - he doesn't land. When he does land and use his landing gear - he doesn't use the sniper rifle. Just forget what you...um...saw in the err...anime... Anyways - I like them. No discoloration on my Luca, no chipped paint no problems of that sort. I promised everybody a couple of pics showing off Alto's Messiah in Gerwalk mode on a stand... will get around to it now that I have some SMS stands yippee! Pete
  9. Obi Wan could be in a series set after ROTJ. He could team up with Scourge and ask Unicron for a new body in exchange for Metroplex's eyes. Oh wait... But seriously - sounds good to me. I mean - setting it between Sith and Hope means Darth Vader gets his own TV series. That is AWESOME! We need to explore more how Darth Vader went from traumatized Anikan with no legs, no arms and a mask to being the simpering cowardly servant to the Emperor with not a trace of personality or personal history that he became in Hope - because really - he went from being EMO boy to Yes-Master-Man... So this'll be a good series I'm sure. The fall of Anakin didn't just take place when he killed that guy from Snakes on a Plane. It's far more drawn out and I am interested in seeing it. Pete
  10. From what I've seen - no. But then again, I also thought the DX looked great upon finally recieving it and seeing it with my own eyes... so maybe I suffer from "it looks great because I'm looking at it" syndrome Pete
  11. As for FrenzyRumble - yeah -I've seen his Menasor before and that thing is awesome. Pete
  12. Advise: use the search button - it really does work. Just type in the subject that you are thinking of starting a thread about - and many times you will find that there is already a thread about this subject, or that there is a thread that is related and you can post in. Also - I personally think the mods are pretty tolerant of people going a little bit off topic in most threads - all the more reason why there's no need to start new ones. But this thread I think might be allowed to live Seasonal Valkyrie would be cool. But they would have to have girls on them. Minmey as Easter Bunny...Minmei as Santa Bunny...Minmey as Summe Vacation Beach Bunny... Then again - maybe they could just sell decals? or is Tampoo printing better? Pete
  13. The key is to pee or puke alot, depending on what you're more inclined to do - rinse the system and keep on drinkin' ! Or better yet - just make sure SHE drinks a lot Pete
  14. Vegas - the photography on the YF-19 is brilliant! Jesus - I look at my YF-19 every day on one of my shelves and it never looked as good in person! You really have an eye for bringing out the great sculpt that these have I would love to see what you can do with Revoltechs or other figures ? Pete
  15. All we need is a little beer...and a lot of luck! Pete
  16. In the words of Bon Jovi: "woo oooh...we're half way there..." I totally love how the titanium coating gives a great shine to the Gundam pilot. I know...I know...he's probably NOT supposed to look like that - but it kind of reminds me of astronaught suits and how they glimmer a bit. Anyways - I'm so happy with this build. True; I've still not learned how to clean he stubs fully (I tried to file but that ends up just whittling away everything)... Any suggestions? Other than evening out and painting over which maybe one day I'll have the courage to do but still dont? Pete
  17. Valkyrie!!! Pete
  18. Yeah - remember Agent GHQ that the internet means that things live longer than they otherwise would have if we were still living in the land of television sponsored marketing campaigns. Nowadays, if an anime is good enough - it will last forever IMO. Or at least as close to forever as possible. But I guess I'm talking from the perspective of Poland, where the 80s wasn't about Macross and Transformers, but mainly about hunger strikes, tanks on the streets and mass poverty. But with the internet - now lots of people here are getting into anime; Macross, Gundam and other stuff - not just new anime either - lots of time it's the classics of the 70s and 80s too. Again - who knows - maybe you're right - but I have a feeling the internet is going to not just destroy borders and boundaries between culture- but that it will also destroy the effects of time. Time is preserved on the internet. 70s and 80s and 90s anime all have special moments which - so long as there are fans and the net ... will live for ever and new people will find them... Either that or Pokemon will make a comeback, Macross, Transformers, and everything else will fail - and only Pikachu will be on store shelves Pete
  19. Right. Just like Bandai's Soul of Chogokin line is an abject failure and big time money loser because all those kids from the 70s are dead too? I dunno. I mean - ok - on the face of it, I agree with you that it will get harder to sell 80s stuff based on pure nostalgia; Macross included. But - on the other hand - the VF-1 is a kick ass toy in its' own right and can certainly be competetive with other stuff that out there, can't it? Besides, Macross transcends just DYRL and SDFM TV. The franchise seems (for now) to be taking great care of building the idea that Macross is this vast continuity where characters and events matter - so all the new Macross: Frontier fans are sure to also eventually see DYRL and stuff. I dunno - I agree it's a gamble - and you might by right GQ... but... if Macross is a cultural icon - then like Transformers in America - it won't die out any time soon and Yamato will have plenty to do. Pete
  20. I did what I always advise people to do ("get them all") and decided that instead of wondering whether to go with Figma or Revoltech for the SOS brigade that I'd just go for both Especially since there are different sets available in both lines. But I wonder how the proportions will match up between Figma and Revoltech? Are the Figmas gonna be bigger? smaller? Sadly, I guess I missed out on Kyon... Pete
  21. I don't think it works that way. The central idea - for Yamato, Bandai and all producers of high end goods is one: create a model/figure that is a) perfectly accurate to line art/anine b) playable/poseable/detailed c) relatively affordable As we've seen throughout the years, the VF-1 has been improved since the Bandai 1/55. Even Yamato not only improved on it going from the v.1 1/60 to the swing-bar 1/48 - but then, just when you would think they had a "winner" in the 1/48 - they gave us the v.2 1/60 which had the added benefits of looking better, being in scale to everything else, double-jointed shoulders etc etc. If you look at the market - you'll see that the same figure - the same design - gets made and remade over and over to better standards. As long as people love the anime or manga that the figure represents, there will be demand for better representations of this figure and companies R&D can be kept busy thinking up how to do this in practice. So - nope - Yamato won't run out of ideas any time soon. Pete
  22. I think two excellent points have been made and both are correct: 1. This is a US based website and they cannot allow material that would even hint a violation of US law or draw any kind of negative fire on the website. And all of us who love MW and are users here should see it as in our interest to make sure the website never has any kind of trouble like this. A+ point 2. Calling people "pheodphiles" because they like something else than you is wrong. A pedophile, just like any other criminal, is someone who has been convicted of the crime; not someone who looks at anime. Re: Sheryl w/stomach muscles: I actually love that picture. It makes perfect sense. Sheryl had a big time work out routine, remember? I think she WOULD have stomach muscles and would be very athletic in terms of her build. It's just how she was - and kind of had to be given how her concerts are just as much about her body as they are about her music. So - go Sheryl! Or maybe she just wrote to Agent 1 and discovered the secrets of body building? Pete EDIT: Re - slight exageration pic: Great pic - but was Alto really ever jealous of Sheryl in the series?
  23. It's from Eros Gundam - the new Tomino OVA. Eros Gundam: You'll Love It... Literally! Pete
  24. November is just around the corner silly That's like a week from now, not counting July, August and September and that other month Pete
  25. IIRC according to the box, Rei and Asuka are 1/8.... Pete
