  1. for real, yo..... Vos, if you're having a hard time, step back for a bit and give it a small rest. I knew from the get-go that playing for early-on characters was going to be a limited experience, and I've tried my best to keep that in mind. I'm seriously thinking about yanking my Unicorn-server character and going back to focusing on the one I have on Pandemonium (I only get about 2 hours of play time every night... hardly enough to divide between 2 characters effectively)... I'd love to pt with you guys, but it's just not a very realistic expectation just now. If I divided it up, it would be ages before I was of any use to anyone (on either server). My lv.13 WAR on Pandamonium is just now starting to warm up to a truely pleasant experience (and I understand that it'll be lv.18 before I can begin do do anything really interesting) Just think... by the time players like you and I make it to those upper levels... the ones that are there now will probably have moved on... the world will be ours for the taking (unless they keep adding on expansions for mega-high level characters) Just be patient and relax..... everything will be cool!
  2. I've not had any financial problems really.... usually everything I accumulate on any trip out sells, and I get more than enough to finance my needs. Goblin gear is probably one of my best sellers... and I get plenty of it. Then again, I'm a lower lev. player (lv.13 on Pandemonium) and a War. at that... so my financial needs aren't so high. If I keep around 10k, I can get whatever I need. As soon as I hit lv.16 (or whatever the new armor point is after 11) I'll probably stick a little more back. I just laid out a pretty sum for my new Flame claymore that will carry me for several more levels. I know I should probably put MORE back PERIOD... but I just havent. now, my lv. 3 monk on Unicorn??? she has virtually NO financial needs... (not yet anyhow) Only get very little time per day to play, so I have to be effective in how I spend my time there.
  3. Abombz, Vostok... if one of you guys wants to get me a worldpass, I'll join you guys on your server now. I'm not going to ditch my current character, but I'm going to start a new one on yours (if you'll have me, that is)
  4. lol, I'm "Lancer Koala" Ironic... because 9 times out of 10, whenever I create a character in an RPG, his name is Lancer.... coincidence???? More likely than not.
  5. LOL, I like the dub too. It also has the distinguishment of being the only officially translated version of Macross on the market (for what THAT'S worth...) Roy's voice actually lines up pretty well with his personality!
  6. yeah, I had serious levelling plans last night and I was unable to do them. I WAS back on my server today playing by 1pm CST, so whatever it was, they're done.
  7. This thread isn't about M7, it's about MII. I rather enjoyed MII ( and while I'm usually pretty lenient on dubs, the subtitles make it SO much more enjoyable to watch... trust me on this one) Mecha were more or less excellent (the Valkyries and Destroids were both cool... and the Macross cannons rock!). I will admit that the animation of the later episodes leaves a LOT to be desired when compared to the first episodes. I also thought that the first time the Macross fired it's cannon was the best representation ever (I am not at all above watching that part over and over again) Seriously though... if you've only ever seen the dubbed version (like so many have), I HIGHLY reccomend you go out and find the subtitled version... you may actually find yourself enjoying it.
  8. is anyone else having serious problems logging in tonight? (2/1-2/2) I shouldn't have any major registration issues and it keeps telling me there's some kind of problem connecting to the lobby server.... just wondered if I was the only one.
  9. Ahh, the VF-1R from the PCE Macross games.... that is one SWEET looking conversion.....
  10. I swear, I think some of you guys DREAM in 1/48 scale.... it's nuts.... I predict that if SK makes any changes at all to the VF-1 for the purpose of the M0 episodes, they're either going to be VERY miniscule stylistic changes (perhaps one angle slightly sharper than it was before, some extra panel lines, etc)... nothing to justify a redesign (he'd better hope not, I just laid down $140 for a VF-1... and if he changes it now, I'm gonna stare at him REALLY hard...) There's also the possibility that any changes made will be strictly internal (such as a possible mention of the SWAG-type armor), thus bypassing the need for a redesign. As it's been said, why change perfection? The VF-1 needs an overhaul like Reba West needs to release a minmei album. (I.E. it DOESN'T)
  11. The sculpt looks pretty decent... and it IS more or less the only Legioss toy on the market (unless you wanna pay out the ass for a gakken)... I can look past the innacuracies, sacrifices have to be made. One thing I cannot get past is the price point..... I mean... Jesus tap-dancing Christ... 80 bucks for something about 3/4 the size of a 1/60 Yamato!?!? It's not like it's mega-loaded with detail or anything. I wouldn't pay that much for that if it transformed itself and chased the cat around the house (well, maybe....) Those of you that plan to spend this outrageous price for this, I laugh at you now. I'll be picking one of these up as soon as it hits the bargain bin (which won't be long) and not one moment sooner.
  12. wow... I spent ages camping out there hunting quads and I never encountered it.....
  13. probably one of those "one every 24 hour" jobbers..... and I've roamed the hell out of south gustaburg (being from Bastok, that's only natural). You want MY guess? it's on the tiny third level of vamp hill. Purely speculation on my part... but I have never seen anything up there before.
  14. boooya! My pt just killed our first butcher (I claimed nearly 200 xp from it myself) the second one slaughtered us all... but damnit, we went down in a blaze of glory!
  15. I think that head doesn't look so drastically different from the original. The original had a similar shape to it as the 1J head.
  16. ha!!! Graham says we will! Sweet, I'm really looking forward to these... now I just want to hear what the final price point will be like....
  17. Like most others here, I'm pretty amped about the Zero line finally getting some Yamato love. Sure, bigger is often nicer, but it all has to start somewhere and if the 'lil guys sell well (read: 1/60 VF-1s), then we could probably bank on a larger scale version release (I most certainly wouldn't sink money into a full-sized-all-bells-and-whistles project until a smaller version had proven interest). I plan on picking one up for sure... and if variants (0D... 2-seater 0A) show up, I'll likely pick some of them up too!
  18. opportunity seems to be doing well! yeah the warmest it gets on mars AT THE EQUATOR in the dead of summer (if it could be called such) is about 55-60 degrees farenheight.
  19. Well, I finally made Lv. 10 early yesterday! After a new set of much-needed gear, a companion of mine said we should celebrate by an xp-farming trip to the highlands.... ...............BAD MOVE.............. <_< We spent more time than anything running from Goblin Butchers (ugly dudes...). We somehow managed to kill a Veteran Quadav, but I ended up getting wasted by some stupid giant ram (we ran like hell, but damn they sure move fast!) which levelled me back DOWN to 9! I couldn't use any of my armor or weapons, so I had to make a run back for Bastok with NOTHING to protect me! Fortunately I hadn't sold any of my old armor or weapons, so it was a simple matter for me to re-arm. I'm gonna spend a LITTLE more time on vamp. mtn before I travel out any further with ANYONE I think.... LOL I learned my lesson... never travel to the highlands or the dunes without some MAJOR firepower and a robust WHM to cover your back....
  20. hmm, actually... gimmie a week or so and I'm gonna set up a second character. I'll contact you for a world pass then and join you guys on that server.
  21. see, I'd love to come over to the same server as some of you guys, but I would have to start all over again (just about to reach lv. 10) and you guys are already pretty far up the scale. I'd hold everyone back for a very long time.
  22. If you can get nothing else... COTB will work.... if you can choose between COTB or Super spacefortress Macross (that is to say, cut dubs vs. uncut dubs), go with the uncut.... at least you get all the animation. While the voices are pretty pathetic, the grammar is passable and you can at least understand what they're saying most of the time. So far as I know, these never recieved a DVD release... it would be interesting if they did. if you're restricted to VHS (and some people still are), there are a few different prints of the old Kiseki video uncut subtitle version that offer decent translation running around. Generally for pretty cheap too. Of course, the best way to go is DVD. BOTH DVD versions of DYRL running around (Anime Studio inc, and FX) are good. the FX supposedly has a better video quality, while the ASinc version supports more accurate dialog (guys, correct me if I'm wrong on this), but both are good quality.
  23. any server can be a good one... you really don't have any choice about which one they place you on (unless someone you know gets a world-ticket for you). This is the only thing I don't like about the game that I DID love about Ultima Online... they choose the server for you.
  24. My server has been fortunate too, although I've yet to leave the Bastok/ Gustaberg area yet (don't intend to try until I've reached lv.10), everyone seems pretty nice. There are a lot of white mages running around that gladly cast protective spells on lone travellers if they see one (I always thank them, if they don't run off too fast) It's weird, because most of the people I party with do not announce themselves as looking for a party (we track each other down individually) and finding anyone else to party with is extremely difficult for a Lv.9 warrior. One of our guys actually deleted his character (a hume) so he could build a new one (Tarutaru) specifically as a white mage. They're that hard to find around here.
  25. I'm not quite sure what to say about some of this... I am an american gamer, with experience in both Final Fantasy (as a series overall.. I own them all) and MMORPGs (I was a beta tester for Ultima Online).... I always try to be as polite to other players (regardless of their nationality) as I can. If I have a problem, I try to research the manual and the "tips & suggestions" sections before I go asking anyone any questions (they wind up being quest-related usually) and I always do my best to know my role and place in a PT. I am required, by force of language barriers, to play with people who know my own language. I know just enough japanese to tell those players that I am sorry for bothering them when I encounter them. So far I have had minimal-to-no problems with other players, and everyone I know has thanked me for PTing with them when I do (there are a group of us that usually get together to go out to level, although we do so less now simply because we don't get XP together like we used to) I can only assume that some servers have it worse than others, because 98% of the people around Bastok on the Pandemonium server are rather polite... and if they want nothing to do with you, they at least give you the courtesy of giving you a wide birth. Surely not all americans are so bad? If so, I'm really sorry that my nation has so poorly mis-represented itself online. I can almost guarantee that the worst ones are probably much younger players. Perhaps a level of maturity should be attatched to the requirements for the game.
