  1. The story of how 3 companies came to make a Predaking combiner.

Actually, MMC and TFC used to be "buddies". and tried to stay off each other's territory. MMC asks TFC if they are doing Predaking, so that if they are, they do something else. TFC tells them no problem, go right ahead, we are not doing it. MMC starts doing it, but UC comes out first, and MMC is pressed to get their demos / sculpt out sooner than expected so people see the option before all buying the UC. TFC secretely does predaking behind MMC's back. MMC wins the heart of many, if not most, with their beautifull design and engineering and fantastic communication with the public. MMC finds out about TFC secret plan later through some of their contacts, and now they are stuck, the small market must be shared into three, and the risks are high for them. TFC finally announces their Ares project. MMC and TFC product are much superior to UC. Some people start changing from MMC camp to TFC, due to the clean and beautiful design / look, whilst other prefer the MMC design and engineering and communication and stay true. Now, the waiting game till products start coming out from both MMC and TFC, which will be in the next few months. UC suffers due to extremely simplistic design and prices come down.

    TFC vs MMC Leo:

    - In Beast, MMC looks like it has much more flexibility and livelyhood, whilst TFC looks like a bear, and huge cannons and a nice tail, but some compare him to a cute kitty cat than an aggressive beast.

    - In Robot Mode, TFC is clean and blocky, with a head scult hated by many (myself included) / whilst loved by others as it is that of the cybertonian look. The nice large cannons are noticeble. But many dont like the closed fists with holes in them for such a detailed character. MMC on the other hand has a beautifull head sculpt, which many preffer, and looks good in general, and cannons are not bad in this mode.

    - Combined mode. Many people start noticing the nice head sculpt of TFC (myself included), and again those nice large Cannons, as well as the abs and well detailed crotch protector. Personnaly, I find this to be their best mode, and a safe and classic look. On the other hand, the head sculpt of MMC looks at first not as nice, but with further look and comparison, it is very unique, and does not bring the feeling of a good guy or heroic as many have stated. The back cannons are much smaller, but it is confirmed that the wings fit well in the back, though my guess is so will the TFC version. The TFC overall looks very detailed and clean, whilst the MMC looks bad ass and chunky, with a larger head to suit the combined mode. Hopefully, the TFC head wont be too small for the rest of the body, we shall see in time. MMC has done their design to allow alot of flexibility, such as making the combined mode look like a shiva by attaching multiple arms, and by even giving the option (and absolutely not necessary) of a 6th member, which will be tigra as a limb, making divebomb go completely as a back-pack if this is purchased. This makes an army of predacons possible, with all members being able to combine. This would become very expensive though, and many wont be able to afford that however, myself included.

Not much is known or announced from TFC at this time, more to come soon i am sure. On MMC, we are given alot of updates and questions answered from one of the designer, and many little upgrades done from original design, some of which were thanks to fellow members giving valid / feasable requests. The transformations are said to be simple, reducing the time to go from beast to robot to combined, so you wont feel like you have to go through a lot of hastle to keep changing every so often, and also we are told that these will be fun to play with, not just display, and leave it. We will see if both these claims are right once products are actually out, as nothing is certain yet. As for TFC, you probably heard of the Uranos project, bringing much uproars, but maybe this one will be different, only time will tell. There is certainly enough difference between the two sets, that many will get both.

  2. guys, the MMC Predaking looks awesome, but in order to get it, I need to sell some of my used Yamato toys at low prices, in fact, I would need to sell 4 of them:

    1x YF-19 25th anniversary, 1x vf-0s, 1x vf-0a, 1x vf-s 25th anniversary

Would I be crazy to do this? I am losing big time compared to how much I bought them for. Buying 3rd party is not cheap, specially when not on the early bird.

  3. wow, nice of all the 19!!!! I have now 3 of them opened, and one in box awaiting my birthday in end of june (vf-19S). Can you post a few more, different poses and in gerwalk and batroid. Oh by the way, Homuru, i have always liked the photos you posted of the 19, always gave me inspiration for poses, so thanks dude!!!!

  4. Not sure about delays either, but depends what you mean. I think the first toy is due in July or August. They first have to release their other figure (sixatron?), I believe in June / July. It is best they finish and release that one first, then only do the Predaking figures each month or two. From what I understood, it's Bovis, then the bird (divebomb), then Leo, then Rino, and finally the Catra, then followed by the 6th character, likely Tigra.

Also, likely that TFC's supposed Predaking will be doing a real announcement (pics) before any of the MMC figures are out, from Griffith's earlier comment.

  5. Because according to Star Trek quantum reality theory all possibilities exist. Data mentionned that theory in a TNG episode : ''Quantum reality, or quantum universe, was the term used to describe the alternate timelines in which all possible outcomes for any event take place. Each quantum reality was its own separate parallel universe characterized by a unique quantum signature which could not be be altered. All matter resonated on a quantum level with this signature within the universes. Before 2370, the existence of different quantum realities was considered only a theory in quantum physics. Under normal circumstances quantum universes remain separated from one another by barriers. (TNG: "Parallels")''

    Data's explanation of quantum reality:

    ,

    ''"Many worlds" in Star Trek

Some serious problems with Star Trek time travel can be solved once you accept the "many worlds" theory:

    • "City on the Edge of Forever": When Doctor McCoy jumped through the time portal, the other crewmembers on the planet's surface perceived the sudden disappearance of the entire Federation. Supposedly, he changed the past so that the Federation was never created. But that is impossible because the other crewmen still existed. They still had memories of the Federation. They still had Federation uniforms and Federation weapons. The "many worlds" theory neatly explains this problem: McCoy and all of the people on the planet's surface were all transported into a timeline (or parallel universe, whichever you prefer) in which the Federation never existed. The original timeline is not destroyed, thus explaining why they still remember its history, but they can no longer perceive it or return to it. When Kirk and Spock jumped back to "fix the damage", they caused everyone to jump into another timeline, in which the Federation was founded again, but with slightly different events surrounding Edith Keeler's death. This is not the same as "going home", but as far as they're concerned, it's good enough.

    • "Star Trek First Contact": When the Borg jumped into the past, the crew of the Enterprise perceived the disappearance of the Federation's entire history. This is impossible because they still exist, and they still retain all of their memories, equipment, history files, etc. Data suggests that they were somehow "shielded from the changes in the timeline", but he doesn't even attempt an explanation of how this is possible. The "many worlds" theory provided a neater explanation: they were dragged into a new timeline by the Borg sphere's "temporal wake", and when they stayed in the wake long enough to perform a similar jump, they ended up in yet another timeline. In this new timeline, they tried to "fix" events so that they unfolded more or less as they remembered (albeit with an orbital bombardment of Cochrane's launch facility which didn't occur in their original history). Note that the "many worlds" theory also explains the biggest conundrum of STFC: why the Borg fought their way to Earth before performing the time-jump, instead of making the jump from the safety of their own territory. The answer is that a time-jump would move the travellers to a divergent timeline but it would have no effect on the original timeline. Therefore, it would do the Collective no good. You might ask why they performed the jump at all if this is the case, but the Queen's attack had failed and she was facing imminent destruction. A jump into a divergent timeline would not change history in her original timeline, but she may have found the prospect preferable to simply being destroyed by one of Picard's quantum torpedoes.

    • "Yesterday's Enterprise": History seems to change when the Enterprise-C appears two decades away from where it was supposed to be destroyed in battle. But the original timeline is not gone, and in the new timeline, Guinan can actually perceive that the Enterprise-C belongs to a timeline other than her own (she can even perceive some of the history of that timeline). This perception manifests itself as a disquieting sensation that something is "wrong", but that's an oversimplification. After all, how can a timeline be "wrong?" With countless timelines in existence as seen in "Parallels", why would one be more "right" or "wrong" than another? A better explanation is that Guinan perceived enough of the Enterprise-C's original timeline to know that she thought it was better than the one she was currently in. We jumped to a divergent timeline when the Enterprise-C arrived and we jumped to another divergent timeline when it departed.

Although the "many worlds" theory may have been discredited in real life, it seems to be the only way to explain Star Trek time travel as we've seen it on the show. It explains causality paradoxes in "City on the Edge of Forever" and STFC, and it also explains why time travel is not being used to solve problems, because it means that time travel doesn't really change anything. It only moves the traveller into an alternate universe where events unfold more to his liking. An interesting consequence of this explanation is that we've really been following a group of characters as they move from timeline to timeline, so we haven't stayed in a single universe throughout the series run of Star Trek.''

JJ Abrams's Star Trek is set in a alternate quantum universe where the timeline has never been fixed since all the possibilities exist As simple as that.

wow, that's real nice, and makes everything much clearer. Thanks for sharing
  6. I have been a trek fan and have seen almost all episodes of each series, and have seen every movie. I loved this one a lot, and consider it as one of my favorites, along with Wrath of Khan and Star Trek First Contact. I didn't go looking for loopholes or reviews before seeing the movie, just went ahead and saw it at the Imax. I enjoyed it so much, I will be buying the blue ray when it does come out. This one was definitely, to me at least, much better than the first star trek by jj Abrahams. If my head were analysing every bit and paying attention to the loop holes, I could probably find some stuff to wine about, but I just went in there, and enjoyed the movie, and liked the surprises, as I hadn't and gone reading all the spoilers and forums beforehand.

So if you still haven't read too much into the forum and all the spoilers or critics, then go and see the movie, and you might just enjoy it, or not. ;)

  7. Hi Everyone,

Pls help me give an updated value for some old used Yamato toys to sell in ebay. All toys are used and displayed, transformed about 5 times, mostly no boxes, except where indicated

    1) 1/60 YF-19 25th Anniversary, with box, complete

    2) 1/60 vf-0s 1st edition with fixed arms applied, skull stiker applied, all accessories

    3) 1/60 vf-0a with fixed arms applied, skull stiker applied, all accessories

    4) 1/48 vf-1s 25th Anniversary, with box, complete

    5) 1/48 vf-1j, light black lining details, all accessories, no stikers

    6) 1/48 GBP original color armor, no stickers

I really appreciate the help in advance, thanks.

  8. Before, i used to collect mostly on coolness of toy, and look only, thus why i have a few more macross yamato toys than i really wanted, or gundams or transformers.

Now, as space is limited, and money as well, i only collect based on feeling first (ie nostalgia), of a series (Yamato Macross / MP Transformers / Gundam Models / etc...) based on favorate characters and then look. However, toy must be high quality, otherwise, i will skip. Such current examples are: Yamato VF-19 Kai (favorite macross character) and third party Quake Wave (Soundwave "MP Transformer"). Both toys are highly nostalgic, and high quality, and of course look too. The nostalgic is important, as i have to be watching the show again sometimes, and spark the extra boost in making me pick up the toy and play with it. Of course, finaly, but just as important, the price. It if is above 200$, it is a pass.

Of course, sometimes, the design and look are just to apealing, and one might brake their own rules, as I sort of did for the vf-19s, which i am keeping in a box for a few months at least until I have too strong of an urge to open it, otherwise i may sell it, as space is extremely limited when you live in a condo, and also have alot of plants and a few small and a large aquarium too ;).

  9. Hi Everyone,

Just gaging interest, and if there is, then I would be selling the following item:

Yamato 1/60th YF-19 25th Anniversary Used but Complete with box, instructions, stickers (none applied). The toy has been transformed about 5 times from Fighter to gerwalk to batroid and back, but still in good condition (no physical damages) and very beautiful display piece, colors are perfect. I must mention that the arm joints seem loose, though I believe this is how they all are anyways, but can probably be improved with some nail polish. It is however still very beautiful and a great display, as the gold parts are tampoo printed and thus doesn't need any stickers or anything to look great. Reason for considering to sell: Lack of space really.

Price before Shipping / Paypal Expenses = 200 $ USD

I Live in Canada, near Toronto, so if you are there, you can pick-up

Shipping will be cost + ~ 3 - 5 $, so depending where you are in north America, it is probably around 30 - 55 $.

Paypal Costs, should be actual, so I believe this is 4%

If there is no interest, I will be putting it up on ebay.

    Thanks for looking.

  10. ok, I got my vf-19 Kai Fire Valk yesterday, and wow, not only was it fast shipping from HK Collectibles, but the toy is so heavy and beautiful, no pictures on the net can do it justice, as when you have it on hand, it is much nicer. Transformation was a bit hard, but with a couple of videos on youtube, I think I got it right. Man, what a beauty, now is my favorite valk of all time, and finally I have a leader to my squadron!!! Finally have the valk to my favorite macross Character.

I received the VF-19S too a few days earlier, but not sure if I will open yet, might keep it and sell it later. I sort of Panic bought it, but got over my budget, and can only keep it if I succeed in selling some of my old toys, or maybe wait till next year for opening it up until the coast is clear, as my wife would kill me ;). I was also debating if I should have gotten the vf-17S vrs the vf-19s, but it didn't get the same rave as the vf-19, which is really worth raving about.

  11. A recommendation. Make samples of each and display it with a transformer so we can see the final product. Also, if you are in any other forum which you are promoting this more, ie a transformer's 3rd party forum, such as http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/ then pls pm me so I can follow you there. A special request for me, if at all possible, display them not only with the smaller transformers which you would normally do, but with some of the MasterPiece transformers too. A booster for MP Sideswipe as mentioned by another member would have nice chances I think, many would have liked it. Good Luck.

  12. For the YF-21/22, the fighter mode is probably the best looking of all valks, and the batroid mode is not bad either, but transformation is more complex, but nothing to worry about when you are following a youtube video on how to. At the cheap prices these were going, definetly get them, and you can even leave it in fighter mode forever, its a beauty. In batroid mode, i leave the air intakes cover off, ie i dont put them on, and i find it looks even better. The original yf-21 came with a stand, very usefull. Anyways, i dont see why one shouldnt pick it up if they like the design, and it sure isnt a loosy goossy when fully transformed, unlike the yf-19.

  13. Well, the yf-21 has the sleekest alienesh fighter mode of any valk out there, and is one of my favorites. The yf-19, well, a second version will never be made by Yamato, and many, including myself, like the yf-19 better than the vf-19, but of course, its is a very loosy goosy mess. I am hoping the vf-19 is extremely sturdy. Not sure if I will keep both the VF-19 Kai and the VF-19S that should be coming in the next few weeks (it is kinda expensive having both, unless I can sell some of my old toys)

  14. Thanks for posting the pics. Man, what a good deal you had, I just bought from HK Collectibles, and with the savings and shipping, it still comes to 200$ !!! Anyways, I love the batroid mode picture, but not sold yet on the booster. One I get it, I will probably display it without the gun, with Kai on it's shoulder. Kai is my favorate hero in all of Macross, so I am very excited to receive this, this along with the Fans Project Quakewave (shockwave) I received are probably going to be my best toys in my whole collection, along with my yf-21, yf-19, and MP Grimlock. I have to admit though, the vf-1/48 have still proven to be my most sturdy good looking toys, but hopping the vf-19 will be almost as sturdy as it is supposed to be one of Yamato best toy.

  15. good job on the purchase, this one is one of my favorites, and definitely the best version because of the stand, I really really really love the stand, makes it so much easier to pose.

Edit: wow, just saw the price, that is a very good deal you got there!!!!

  16. I have a request:

Can someone take some nice pictures of the VF-19 KAI with the VF-19S together in a cool poses, in batroid mode. Thanks in advance.

Edit: damn Shaorin, those pictures of the vf-19s are sooooo sexy, you are making me NOT regret my purchase!!! I am mad at you, GRRRR!!! :), now if you can take a few more with that same background, so I can get even more "mad". :p
