Gah. All my items are stuck in customs! They're stuck coz all of them arrived at the same time.

Postal services are rarely closed for long periods of time since they're an essential service. They'll probably be closed on Monday and Friday next week. Even amiami will only be closed on those 2 days, according to the calendar on their website so I think we can assume that most retailers will do the same.

I don't think the Japanese celebrate CNY and not all businesses take the entire week off too. Some retailers might still require their employees to show up a few days next week. Otherwise we're all gonna be stuck waiting for the precious to arrive.

I'm starting to think that Bandai has ramped up production to meet the higher demand coz I've never seen a pre-order for a DX open this long, especially since quite a few are collecting multiple units.

Before you guys start bashing me, I'm not against their business practise. I'd do the same if I were them. I've always managed to secure a unit at retail prices and NY has always been more of a backup for me.

Indirectly, yes. Less supply for the domestic market just means there'll be a lot fewer units left for the rest of us. Although it might not be fair to blame NY alone, I doubt scalpers have the same amount of resources a company does. NY might not be pioneers but they're definitely a factor. Kinda like the current baby formula shortage in some European countries.

That's what I assumed NY was doing all along since they can consistently secure more units while other sites keep selling out faster and faster.

I'm not too sure about paying up front coz the Yen is expected to weaken further this year.

Is it normal for NY to request payment 2 weeks before the release date? I'm a little worried that the toy will be out earlier than expected.

Because I tried using a proxy from Japan to access their sites but otacute refused to load the page. I don't remember the disclaimer that appeared though. I thought the scalper issue was already established based on the number of pre-orders flooding secondary markets like YAJ.

Otacute is not accessible from within Japan unless you're using a proxy so that might be why there are less scalpers preying on them.

I have a very general question about toys and temperature. I've had toys delivered to me late in the afternoon on more than one occasion and the boxes have always felt warm to the touch. I'd like to know if there will be any specific long-term side-effect/defect that I should be aware of since I keep most of my toys unopened due to lack of display space. I know you're supposed to keep toys in a cool, dry place but delivery times are not something I can control.

I've cancelld my Amiami orders before but they didn't reply my cancellation e-mail. The item just disappeared from my order list. I guess that means they weren't happy about it. I've never cancelled from the other sites before, but I've always assumed that they allowed cancellation. Good to know that I was wrong.

You might want to look for private proxies. As in people living there who offer such services as opposed to companies/websites. I found their rates to be slightly lower.

I cancelled my VF-171 order a few months back but my other pre-orders are still intact. IMHO, most major online stores don't seem to mind cancelling pre-orders coz they can still sell them to someone else. Returning an item can be slightly annoying to them though.

Maybe you guys shouldn't freak out so much considering how they reopened preorders for the VF-171 CF last week, which no one expected.

HLJ doesn't charge for items that are not in stock, including pre-orders.
