  1. I think it served Sunrise best by doing it as a movie. IIRC they made a lot of money on it.
  2. This article was in MSNBC's "Sexploration" section. How seriously do you think it's being taken? http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3035461/
  3. As far as the "mythos" goes, I prefer the new show. More Hellenic principles, less Mormonism. ;p
  4. This may shock you, but cartoon characters don't have feelings. They're not real people.
  5. The others are going to be Lunk, Annie, and Marlene/Ariel, IIRC. All four boxes will form a picture of them in the cockpit, screaming for their lives. I've seen the artwork and it's pretty funny.
  6. I like that the caption under his name is simply, "Jimmy Choo's Son." (Around 2:00.)
  7. I hope you don't see the dreaded Jolly Roger if you reach the six month mark. ;p
  8. We've discussed this here before, but this is pretty much the case with the Legioss/Tread. Shinji Aramaki designed the Legioss, went home, and the next morning he came in to find that Hideki Kakinuma was up all night tacking the Tread onto it. "The sponsor wanted a transforming booster," he was told. Definitely seat-of-the-pants flying.
  9. Yeah, Takatoku set the (swing) bar with their Macross toys in the 80s and ever since then, perfect transformation is considered a standard feature. Mecha shows aim for realism, and mecha toy collectors tend to want their toys to be as close to the robots in the show. That means no parts swapping. (They don't seem to realize that giant hands don't reach down out of the sky to transform the robots in the show, but don't tell them that.)
  10. I don't doubt that this is someone's personal project, I was addressing Lonely Soldier Boy's comments that inferred the person doing this couldn't have some sort of professional expertise. I wonder what kind of equipment they have access to. I see some design drawings in those shots that might be CAD. If so, it's possible they used some sort of rapid prototyping. Regardless, the work is really good. It's too bad, the profile section of the blog doesn't say anything, nor is there an email address provided. I'd love to know who they are.
  11. Look at it this way, if it never arrives and you end up ordering another one, then you'll pay more than twice the price of one just to get one. ;p
  12. EMS arrives faster and gives you a tracking number. You get what you pay for, and that extra money spent will probably give you peace of mind the next time around. I've had a couple of things arrive crushed from HLJ, but every time I've contacted customer support and they've worked it out with me.
  13. Do we know whether or not the person who created this is an industry professional?
  14. Regarding this: Is this also the case with 2-D vs. 3-D animation, though? Does it really save time and money when you consider the personnel involved, the type of expertise, and the equipment? There are a couple of industry people I can ask about this.
  15. Thumbs down to non-transforming fighter toys. Thumbs up to GN-U Zentraedi powered suit toys.
  16. I don't have the link right now, but the official Star Wars site has a feature on the nose art for the clone ships. There are two different Twilek girls on a couple of them, and another sports a Salacious Crumb-type guy. They also have funny slogans using the Star Wars generic alien language. If anyone wants to sell the "mini rig" from their Millenium Falcon, I'll gladly buy it off of you.
  17. It accomplishes the cockpit shenanigans and connection boom via parts swapping. No kanzen henkei here: http://policap-inside.cocolog-nifty.com/ph...ed/cimg1065.jpg I love this guy's work, but comparing this to a mass-produced toy is apples and oranges. I can make a hamburger that trumps anything you'll ever have in any restaurant, but it takes more time, effort, and expense than a restaurant can afford to expend. Different sets of parameters.
  18. Wow, you're right, I totally forgot about this. When Chirico beats Ypsilon in the TV series he has this revelation, but now Palisen Files showed that he already figured this out. One more strike against this. ;p
  19. Why, though? CGI doesn't seem to offer any obvious aesthetic advantages, especially after watching this show. I think the animators have a long way to go before they can give mecha the kind of screen presence that they exhibit in 2-D animated productions for the last 25 years. The VOTOMS moved around like they had no weight to them, and their movements were too smooth. And AFAIK, they've been using CGI on Gundam since Gundam SEED. Bandai even uses the meshes to create their 3-D products nowadays. True single-sourcing.
  20. Okay, what made this trip worthwhile for you? The last VOTOMS outing (Heretic Saint) was only five episodes long and accomplished a lot. This one, not so much. All of the extraneous characters except for Chirico, Peruzen, and Lushke/Rochina are wiped off of the board at the end, and we really don't learn anything significant about any of them. The only thing that I consider interesting (and this is some major reading between the lines) is the idea that Monad was the site of another Wiseman-like being, and the whole thing was orchestrated by Wiseman to wipe it out. The bit about Zaki being artificially created and his violent fugue states (similar to Chirico's) seem to be just more red herrings, too. I was hoping that he would turn out to be the baby Peruzen blew out into space. And then there are the continuity problems created, like how Chirico doesn't recognize Lushke/Rochina when he meets him in the TV series, and nobody else in the Gilgamesh military seems to know who Chirico is, even though his image was broadcast all over the place when the Monad campaign was ramping up. Add to that CGI that really doesn't rise above the level of a video game cutscene and I ask again, "Was this trip really necessary?"
  21. Having watched all 12 of the fansubbed episodes I now have to ask: was this trip really necessary?
  22. Wow, so much excitement over this show. Wait until you actually see it. ;p (And you will love PEE-TAH!!!) See also: http://toyboxdx.com/phorum/read.php?5,1808...0823#msg-180823
