I will say that if anyone is looking to pick up the Project BM Kaneda and bike make sure you see pictures (or even better handle) of both pieces before you pay for anything. Medicom RAH style figures and anything with vinyl have a tendency to rot over time if the toys aren't stored or displayed correctly. I have seen Kaneda's Jacket rotten away to shreds on a couple of these as well as spit bike tires. Also the Medicom RAH buck is notoriously fragile.  I'm not saying don't track one down, just be careful as you shop. I Have the set on display and mine has no problems at all, but it has been inside a toy display cabinet in a cool room with no sunlight.

    Good to know!

The current after-market prices are way to rich for my blood so I'm safe from that particular dilemma. That'll be @sqidd's headache.

    Always preferred the black one.

    *snip*

That does look pretty cool, but IMHO does not beat the aesthetics of the original. Maybe if it had markings or a little more splash of color to offset all of the black.

    I still hate this series.

    Nobody's perfect :p

Reading up on the comic I'm reminded about Garth Ennis, without really knowing him/reading interviews/etc. I could easily accuse him of some having some pretty horrible ideology. Instead I just go with the theory that he enjoys putting up a mirror to humanity and showing us how truly flawed and terrible we can/could be.

OMG, the Homelander breast milk scene! It was creepy and hilarious all at the same time! Then the call back when they were eating pancakes!!!!!

Ok god, that poor whale! I felt bad and was laughing my tail off all at the same time.

And if you didn't know the kid was getting pushed off the roof...........you have no pulse! I was laughing so hard!!! It was the perfect Homelander dad move!!!:p Homelander is the worst! Also, great to watch!8P

I can see how it would be easy to hate. A couple of slightly different brain cells and I would hate it too. It's not a good look for humanity. Pretty much everyone sucks to one degree or another. And there is something a little unsettling about superheros that suck. Even though in real life chances are.......superheroes would suck. Humans have a bad track record with handling power.

Have you seen Brightburn? That may be one to stay away from for you.

I actually did laugh at that particular roof scene, a lot - I blame growing up with Looney Toons and how that type of 'physical' humor was the thing. I'm surprised Homelander didn't toss him into the air.

Brightburn, Brightburn, Brightburn - sigh, really liked the premise, but the execution left me...wanting.

Is black humor not your thing?

    Brightburn?  More like Slowburn.  <_<

It takes the film 75 minutes to accomplish what the trailer established in 90 seconds.

Hard to argue, my feeling sorry for the kid quickly gave way to HATING how stupid the parents were.

    Spoiler

And the ending. In that universe we're probably all dead by now. Especially since the kid was left as the only one that know's his own weakness, he could have just chucked the damn ship to the moon, or bottom of the ocean or simply buried it somewhere.

I'm more concerned with the sculpt than the stickers so that;s good to know, I was thinking that the figure looked a bit better with the McFarlane also.

    Thank you for you input.:hi:

The Bandai seems to tread about $100 more. Right now there is one on Yahoo auctions for $250. There is a McFarlane at Mandy for $150.  The thing is I have a PILE off stuff at Buyee so I wouldn't be paying much for shipping getting something on Yahoo auctions. It sounds like the McFarlane may be the better one for me anyway. Maybe I can find something else at that Mandy branch I want...... I mean need, yeah, need.

I was just thinking about this. Aside from liking all things motorcycle I think Akira was the first anime I saw aside from Robotech (we'll pretend it was Macross). I really didn't have much anime exposure growing up. It just wasn't on the radar. Akira really sticks out for me.

    Community input for the win!

Mostly the same for me, it was Robotech on TV before and after school as a kid, then as a teen/tween, Akira, Clash of the Bionoids (ha), Ninja Scroll, Macross Plus and then just reading up on Macross on these forums.

I think there’s been a small resurgence in popularity for Kaneda’s Bike ever since Ready Player One came out couple years back. So it drove the prices up for these even further.

Makes sense, for just a little bit of screen time the bike did get have it's time to shine in action, and as a plot device.

If it doesn't light up like TRON, I just don't see the point.  :p

    *snip*

Not to mention those lovely sound effects...

    Those pics...

The Hot Show TRON Light Cycle would be displayed in my home minus the Sam Flynn rider it came with, but she's nowhere near as iconic as Kanedas's Bike.

    Right!

From a sales perspective I get it. I'll do things like wait until HBO has three shows I want to watch and all the episodes are out and then get a month for $12.99. If they string them out they're chances of increasing revenue go up.

    I don't like it though.

For sure, I get it as well to curb people from doing the free or discounted trial membership.

    BUT

Those folks can simply wait until the series has been released and do that anyway. With this model all they're doing is annoying the impatient among the current subscriber base.

It made sense for Disney + to do that for Mandalorian since that was at or just after the launch of a new service. For established services like Amazon Prime where your base is mostly locked in anyway, I feel like the effort to mitigate risk is wasted. But blah, it's not likely to change, if anything it's going to become more and more prevalent. The thought of which truly annoys me. If they're going to behave like network or cable television, then just license the content and be done with it.

But I digress. The Boys is a really fun ride.

Too right, 1/1 scale is hard to beat!

The one I have is part of the very small 1/6 scale figure collection in my closet, and I'll be sure to post pics once I get fully unpacked.

The McFarlane one is much larger than the Bandai, and the sculpt is quite good.  McFarlane just couldn't duplicate all the decals due to legal reasons.

Please do post pics! From what I was able to find prepping a response to this thread that thing looks bad ass.

Bandai Soul of Popynica PX-03 isn't bad, there's some assembly out of the box (by design) and over the years mine has gotten a little loose for lack of a better term. It doesn't fall apart or anything but every so often I have to disassemble and then re-assemble to get parts, especially the front wheel, nice and tight again.

Aftermarket prices have gotten a little nuts and it's hard to recommend buying it for the prices I've seen lately.

Yeah, LOL. Where is Stormlander come from?:fool:

Honestly thought you were saying that on purpose. I read some of the wiki for the comics and well...

In any event the first three episodes were great. I’m legitimately pissed at this weekly release schedule the streaming services are going to, I want to binge the entire season now. Now. Now. Now.

  7. Gonna have to say this - wish I had it in my collection;

    https://www.hlj.com/1-6-scale-project-bm-soul-of-popynica-kaneda-s-bike-ban952780

    http://akira-movie.blogspot.com/2014/04/akira-kaneda-bike-in-16-by-project-bm-x.html

There weren't that many Akira toys released so the choices are a little limited. There is a smaller, more readily found Bandai PX-03 bike that's not bad. I do have that one and the biggest flaw is the add face sculpt (the eyes) on Kaneda.

BOP looked lie a dumpster fire from the beginning to me.:D

Have to agree. But I did watch it on HBO during a lazy Tuesday evening the other day. It wasn't as bad as I thought. I mean, it wasn't good, but it wasn't THAT bad.

I'm looking for to No Time to Die, Skyfall has been my favorite Craig Bond fond movie so if this comes close then I'll be happy.

Good score!  You have to find them early in the morning's.  I've gotten Beachhead, Baroness and the cobra trooper all the same way.  Found stock in morning, and gone to store and picked them up shortly.  Hopefully with the cobra trooper being a regular release in the next wave, some of this madness will subside.

Thank you thank you! Funny enough it was like 7:30 PM when I was at Target. I knew it was a long shot and that like you said most "finds" have to happen in the morning so I know that I got extra lucky.

This is exactly why this hits me so hard.

For little kids in my community Black Panther was THE hero because he was relatable and representative. Sure you have Blade and Jon Stewart's Green Lantern and a few others, but none have achieved pop culture status like Marvel's Black Panther.

Even people I know that could care absolutely less about comic book movies, action adventure or science fiction in general gravitated towards Black Panther. I almost got disowned by some family members for arguing that the Winter Soldier was a better comic book movie (I mean, it is) but for them BP was the first major movie that showed us as more than what you normally see on TV or the big screen.

I know that the character will continue, for a number of reasons least of all being the box office draw (movie making is a business after all) but given everything happening THIS year Chadwick's loss has a particular sting.

I hope that as a person and movie hero he has a long lasting, positive legacy.

I still may check out S2 and the Anime short at some point in time, I really enjoyed S1 so I'll be sure to temper my expectations accordingly.

After the season 2 dumpster fire I'm not surprised.

I actually started to re-watch season 1 last night and all I could think the entire time was how much better than season 2 it was.

You didn't miss anything. I wish I had never watched it. It tainted season 1 in my mind it's so bad.

You're not the only one that expressed sentiments like that, for sure that's why I wasn't in a rush to watch S2.

I've got some time off of work coming up and it wasn't even on my list of shows to catch up on (in no particular order, Locke and Key, Dark (all episodes), Clone Wars, Jack Ryan S2 all come to mind).
