  1. *grin* Go Petar Go! Does this mean my nagging finally did the trick? I'm so excited to see this thread mate.
  2. Very nice Ron. Very nice. The comparo pics are really interesting! The YS joints really add a nice anime effect and eliminate the "rigidity" of the original pose. Top work, again. Were the YS joints from a kit or can you order them specifically? Great photos too. What's your setup like? One overhead, one on the side, plus a reflector on the other side? It's really well lit. Finally, whilst I'm firing off questions, do you remember where you bought your MV lenses from please?
  3. Date? Don't care. Competitions? Sounds great! Displaying stuff inside the cinema? Winner. Matt I'm very happy to go check out the cinema. I can't lock in a date at the mo, but happy to plan it in somewhere later this month. If you'd like me to do it, please PM over Ben's contact details and any reference/booking numbers you may have. I can take plenty of pics to post too. PS. Pineapple cake FTL!!! :)
  4. I'm with you Carl, but with the Aussie dollar being lousy at the moment (as in kits costing nearly double what they did three months back) I'd be ok with waiting a little longer!
  5. Is BT the only way to get MacF right now? Still haven't seen any
  6. I'm studying for my final postgrad exam this week, so can't contribute anything helpful, but wanted to say thanks for doing the legwork and for sharing the good news from BCC! Very encouraging! We might be onto a winner with this one. Seeing the movies on the big screen should be a huge drawcard in making up numbers. Maybe we could have a modeling comp? 1/72 Hasegawa VF-1 built OOB? Winner gets a prize. Could do a swap'n'sell too. Anyway, thanks again dude.
  7. Speaking of nice dios, I've always wanted to create the scene involving post-apocalyptic Earth with the dead Zent soldier leaning back on his crashed Gnerl in a sea of wildflowers, holding onto his Minmei doll. Yeah, it's a little 'arty' but to me that one scene retells almost the entire Macross story.
  8. +1 for everything Mike said. I remember seeing a MWer use Coke to strip back a metallic SDF-Macross and repaint in metallics. If you don't, you're stuck with those nasty seam lines that make the end product look like poo. You're probably safe with acrylic thinners to do panel lines. Test it somewhere out of sight. If that doesn't work, try water-based artists paints instead. Can't go wrong there
  9. Wow Andy, that battroid looks amazing. Does the modeller have to remain anonymous? The paint job is so clean! Looking forward to seeing yours too!
  10. I'd go to My Ommaney. LOTS cheaper to stay out there. It's also pretty close to the freeway so it isn't hard to get in and out of.
  11. Did somebody say Wonderfest Brisbane limited run 1/72 Minmei figures from the PetarB House O' Resin?? I think they did!!! :) lol
  12. You mean we cant be Australians imitating Americans eating Italian food whilst enjoying Japanese anime? Seriously though, I like the BBQ idea too.
  13. From an organisational standpoint, it may be worth considering piggybacking onto another anime convention and then have a small invite-only get together afterwards for the movie marathon? I'm assuming numbers will be well under 50 people, which makes pretty much anything cost prohibitive. Grabbing our own stand at a general anime con might be worth looking at? That said, dude I am very keen on the cinema idea! (Can cinemas do DVD?) Perhaps if there was a smaller cinema we could get it cheaper than BCC prices. Then look at how many people could be (realistically!) expected to attend, and go from there. I mean, if we're trying to entice people to fly to Bris from Sydney, NZ, Melbourne, wherever, we need a good event, right? I'm just saying that I wouldn't fly interstate to stand around in a scout hall, but I WOULD cough up coin to fly somewhere to meet some people, see some Macross toys/kits/etc. on display, have a beer, grab some food, and settle in for a Macross movie marathon in a cinema. Say we can find a smaller cinema, at maybe $2000 for the afternoon/evening. You could probably price it at $40 for con, your own pizza, and movies. Less cost of food and incidentals, you'd probably have $25 per head to pay for the cinema. That's 80 bums in seats to pay for the movies. You see where I'm going? Then you need to suss out whether the cinema fits 80, then how many people can you reasonably expect? Maybe look at $40 for the con in advance, $50 pay on the day (whatever! ) Bottom line for now would be to decide what people are interested coming to Brisbane for. That'll steer how many people we're trying to get on board. Sorry about the long post. This is just spitballing a few ideas; please don't see this as me telling anyone what they should or shouldn't do, or even how a convention works - cause I've never been to one! I'm just talking marketing. Mark
  14. I like the plan. The Aussie modellers could sort out a group build to display at the event too. Nice.
  15. Wow! That's very cool work. I'm just trying my hand at figures, and it's a LOT harder than I thought! Gojira ftw
  16. Ya, totally. I thought that I'd ask whilst among friends rather than the general populus. Cheers for the info gunny. /OT
  17. Sweet, I'm in Brisbane. I guess that means I'm out of excuses for not attending Mark PetarB is down in Sydney I think. Whilst we're talking Aus, where's the best place to find Mac Frontier? I still haven't seen any. Is it all via torrent or can you buy it from Madman or something?
