  1. Dammit I just got an email from them for shipping, amongst other things, PE Valk set... grrrrr! If I'd just waited!

Petar I am about to place another order with HLJ for a bunch of stuff. Please shoot over a PM if you'd like me to grab a second VF-1D for you (and perhaps you'd like to sell your PE set too? :)). I'm in Brisbane.

    Cheers

    Mark

  2. I am Up for a nerd...I meant Gnerl...

    count me in...

I am wondering if can you do the soldier a bit more posseable so one could maneuver it to sit on the regult pods as well...?

Many of us missed them last time...

    +1

  3. So you dip the model in Future after you paint it or what?

I've only ever done closed canopies, so I dip first, the glue it on, mask and paint. You can airbrush Future on as an acrylic sealant to produce a high gloss finish that helps you decals settle easier and look more like they are painted markings and less like stickers.

and I'm sorry about going OT

  4. Cowie is it not available in Oz at all in any form or name. At $29AU a bottle I'd send my cousin in Sydney a crate to sell she loves eBay.

Apparently the substitutes are SuperShine, SuperStride, Reckitts Longlife Floor Polish - I thought those products were nice until I actually used Future. I remember someone saying it was due to Australian legislation requiring the products to be modified to taste foul or smell awful or something like that - but I don't know why you'd be drinking floor polish. I think the Oz products have ammonia in them. Don't quote me on any of this, I just know that real Future is much much better for dipping cockpits than the "equivalents". I was fortunate and found a mate at work who went to the US on exercise and brought back a crate.

Hey if your cousin is keen, I highly recommend decanting it into 3oz/100ml bottles or something like that. Divide and conquer for increased profit :) If I could buy a crate I'd be doing it myself! :D

  5. Speaking of Future, you guys in the States could do well to sell some on eBay Aust. I've seen listings down here selling the stuff for $29 a bottle. Some hobby stores import it then decant it into 1oz tubs and ransom those at crazy prices. No matter what Swanny says, local stuff just aint the same! :)

  6. Hi Scopedog, welcome to MW. Sounds like you've been around the hobby for a while. Nice.

I have no information on the vinyl kit, however if I may offer a suggestion to help you receive more member responses: turn up the politeness by not bashing members about 'Did you even read my post?". :)

    Hey what's TL;DR?

Once again, welcome. Best of luck with those pics you're looking for.

  7. Maybe Bandai just want to see how the range will go so they picked what was really popular and if they sell well then they will re-release the other kit's, makes sence from a marketing standpoint. I'm just glad the VF-2SS is there as I refused to pay US$60.00 plus for a little model kit, I've even seen them go for more, crazy.

I understand where you're coming from but the line-up is just the same as 2004 when I bought my 1/100 Glaug, 1/100 and 1/72 variables. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it goes well and more lines are reissued B))

Hey it could be a good time to stock up on all the destroids and become an ebay gouger too! :) VTIC

  8. Other than a variety of 1/100 macross stuff, they dont seem to reissue the 1/72 stuff other than valks....

Yep, *sigh* and the ebay sellers breathe a little easier and relist their jacked up prices... :(

edit: I shouldn't whine, it's not jacked up prices, it's just economics

  9. The reissue line-up looks just like the reissue of 2003 (or 2004?). Tomahawk, Phalanx, Glaug, etc. No Regults or other destroids... :(

Bummer! Hopefully more variety shall be released this time around! :)

  10. Hi mate, welcome to MW.

Here's a good place to start. Just surf around to check out which kits have been produced in plastic and resin. Boxart, instructions, etc. are all there too.

For completed examples you're best off to search through MW. There are a few Chinese and Japanese websites around that do a lot of Macross, but can't help with links - I usually follow someone else's. :)

  11. how did you get the panel lining so perfect?

did you use a marker or a paint brush and let the thin paint run down the lines and then use thinner to clean up the excess?

thanks, any info would really help as i am currently building the vf-0s

I'd love to know more about this too. Also, which paint did you use for the gun pod and the thrusters please?

And what a great looking result! Well done.

  12. Get a dude sitting down and just make him holding a helmet  .

Here's a 1/100 child I modified to become a 1/144 Soviet test pilot for my MiG-1.44. The child figure was a little girl standing with a teddy bear. I cut at the hips and legs, filed the head round, and CA glued a piece of fuse wire to become an oxy hose. The visor is drawn with a Gundam marker. And if you're wondering where the MiG-1.44 went, just don't paint lacquer over half-dried enamel... :(

As far as the pilot goes you'll just have to take my word for it that in 'the flesh' it looks like an oxy mask and not an elephant trunk! :D

Here's progress on one of the 1/100 kits. I added some antennas to the jet and a RWR or something like that to the tail. Only later did I see pics with a different dorsal antenna setup with two side-by-side...! I'm still happy because my goal was to try scratchbuilding a little extra detail, and not count rivets. :p
