  1. Have fun misterryno.

Here is my next project and its already primed. I'll begin painting this bad boy in the next few days.

Hey nice effect creating the damage there! How did you do it?

Have you decided on a paint scheme? For my 1/100 I'm going to try USMC Sand. I've added a few non-canon bits and pieces; I'd like to capture the feel of an ASLAV or an Abrams.

  2. Hats off to you misterryno! There is a sense of satisfaction from building your own model that you'd never experience with a toy.

    We're bringing 1/100 back baby!

Here's my Tomahawk I started about two weeks ago; around ten hours so far. It was also my first try with Mr Surfacer 1200 as a primer and I managed to spiderweb it everywhere. :( Added more thinner, upped the px, and it was much better. It still needs another coat and then the touch ups on the seam lines.

  3. The reason I haven't built mine is that I just don't have confidence in my skills yet. I don't want to ruin a kit that's worth a lot of money. That, and the fact that I don't have the time right now.

Blah, blah, blah... I know, excuses, excuses...

:D You should come on over to 1/100 town with me! That's the only reason I'm still here! :)

  4. Yep but not anytime soon, maybe in a few months time. It will not be a scratch build but a modification on an existing kit, most likely the 1/72 Hobby Base Rettpu kit as I believe it is one of the nicer ones around and has sufficient room for improvement! The VF-11 I am planning to release will also have the option of a two-seater for a training fighter as well as maybe a "Elint Seeker" fighter, complete with all the surveillance trimmings!

    I'm interested.

  5. I am the wrong person to ask about Gundam. I just started watching Gundam Seed (on loan from friend). I visited the Gundam Newbie thread in the Anime/Sci-Fi forum as well as Wikipedia for the basic breakdown. As far as what the "mulit-grips" are, the only thing I do know is that they are part of the "Dragoon" weapon system.

Thanks! I'll go check out that newbie thread, sounds like what I'm after!

Multi-grips must be an Australian thing. They are a plumber's wrench :)http://www.htpaa.org.au/oztools-images/wrenches/multi-4.jpg

I was trying to work out what the Gundam weapon is and was making a joke about an intergalactic plumber

  6. Cool Gundam. What's the thing it's holding? I have NFI about Gundam - it looks like a giant pair of multi-grips :)

Wicked Ace do you have a link to a decent "gundam for dummies" page please? (or should I just go visit wikipedia?) I've only seen two or three episodes and I'm just not sure if it's something I can get into; is it more suited to the younger audience? Thanks!

  7. Hi mate, welcome to MW.

For 1/100 Mac Plus, you are generally looking at resin kits. In the 'for sale' section a few guys are selling resin at the moment, but it doesn't come up terribly often.

There is lots of info on the MW homepage: on the left click models, then resin, then poke around there for a while.

I've not built the Bandai VF19 but I've read those kits a bit of a dog. Only the ultra keen need apply.

    Mark

  8. As well as using a thinner piece of tape - if you make a few nicks in one side you'll be able to shape it to the curve a lot easier.

In other words, cut across the tape (about half the width) every half inch or so. This way is a nice balance between the ease of a thin piece and the adhesion of a thick piece. The more nicks, the easier it is to curve.

    Hope that helps.

  9. Good luck with this Miriya...I am certain it will turn out wonderfully. Be careful with the Dremel though. I have close to the lowest powered one and it is POWERFUL. Also...good choice at the liquor shop ;) .

Hey it's great to know there are common interests other than Macross! Just this morning I bought a 16yr Bushmills!

  10. These arent toys <_< I dont do toys. These are all resin its. For scaling they are all pretty close to a 1/48 F-15 with the 19 and 21 close to a F-14 in size. Maybe slightly larger.

lol, you completely missed my point. I know you don't do toys, and I was pleasantly surprised because they WEREN'T toys :) It is unusual to see 1/48 Macross model anything, which is why I initially thought it might be a toy thread.

    Re: scaling

Sorry, I didn't mean compared to a real life jet (I have kits here to compare against). I was hoping to see how big the 1/48 kits are sitting on your desk, which is why I was hoping for a pic with a box of matches, a keyboard, or a pen.

Thanks all the same! The VF-1 is coming along very well.

  11. And thanks for the pics HWR. I saw 1/48 and immediately thought, "TOYS!..." What a pleasant surprise! I really enjoyed the pics and saved them all.

Do you happen to have any images with a scaling item, like a box of matches or a fountain pen? I'm still not quite sure how big these guys are.

    Thanks again!

  12. Petar, I don't know how you managed to pull off a baby blue Valkyrie, but boy you've done it. It will look great next to the VF-4. Excellent work!

Based on the pics, I agree the smoke is a little heavy, but the overall finish is tip top. Hey are you planning on a little pastel on the bells or staying with the high gloss?
