  1. And reference your goal pic: when I made the Bandai variable into a fixed gerwalk (and aiming for a similar pose), the hardest parts were the knee and ankle joints, particularly the ankles. It is a bugger to set the angles right. Looking forward to seeing what you can do bloke.

Oh yeah, make sure you throw plenty of lead into the legs. It will make life a lot easier down the track! :)

  2. Well I am going to be away a lot with work this year so I'll have a bit a spare time without much to do. Luckily adding scribed details only requires a few tools and lots of time :)

Chas all my scribing work is done with a sewing needle in a pin vice, I haven't done a lot of scribing so far so this should offer a good chance to practice.

Berttt where did you buy your pin vise? I grabbed one through eBay from the UK but I got what I paid for: the bits wont centre correctly as the pawls are not cut accurately. :( Was it a Bunnings job or did you need a specialist tool place?

PS The Bandai hands are at work, going in the post on Monday. Sorry about the hold-up.

  3. Most people will tell you to mix future with a flat base (like Tamiya) and spray it on. You should be able to find some web-sites that have the correct ratios on mixing it. Works wonders and have never heard a complaint about it in the last 5 years that I've known the technique.

    1st use, 1st complaint :(

I sprayed about 1:8 flat base:Future on my black S-37. Now the beautiful black finish looks like it has been dusted with light grey? wtf? Please tell me it dries clear...

  4. Also if I wanted a kit that bad and bought it...

You have a great point there. I DID buy the kit for a reason. I'll shelf it for a while and look to motivate myself again soon.

Also, Academy does not suck. They're like most other companies---it varies.

Phew! Great to hear David because I've always heard good things about Academy and now have a few.

1/144 was really just practice but as it turns out the effort is about 80% of a 1/72 kit anyway! I mean, once the paint is loaded what does it matter if you're spraying a little longer! :)

  5. I have this Academy 1/144 Su-22 and it is just driving me nuts.

There are a few panels to rescribe. The intake cone just isn't circular. There is no wheel well detail. The cockpit sucks and the paint job is going to be more time consuming than a 1/72 jet.

When do you guys make the decision to turf a kit? I've only junked one kit before, and that was a loooong time ago. It's just that I'm sitting here finishing my last two 1/144 whilst dreaming of a nice 1/72! I feel so dirty...! :p

  6. Brett after Grayson mentioned the variable, I checked one out. They look the same with rescribed panel lines if anything.

I don't have any casting gear for about another eight weeks but if you want I could mail them up your way if you can DIY?

    Over to you blue leader.

  7. That's my auction :D

It's at $150 now. And I've got a 1/160 Monster up too, which is at $200.

Needless to say, I'm completely shocked :o

Hats off to you Sir! I thought $80 was a lot for a vintage kit, but that guy REALLY wants his destroid!

It is comforting a MWer is reaping the benefits! :)

  8. I've made the nose, rockets and wheels a little darker on both images.

Now I'm ready to move on to something new.

How are those in flight renders coming along?

    :p j/k

Take your time Jason. I really appreciate you taking the time to do these renders so we can have all this Photoshop fun.

    IPB Image

Hi Dante. Great work mate! They look amazing! The heat effect and lighting is very very nice.

I know you said you're over it and ready to move it, but if you chose to revisit the pic, a 'squat' nosegear position in the first pic could really top it off.

    Once again, beautiful pics. Saved.

  9. Thanks!

Think what you can find, if you know where to look :)

:D I cheated - I made a special note of the thread as I have an Arii VF-1D on the bench at the moment! :)

  10. A few years, down here in Australia, a number of soldiers came into a lot of trouble after cleaing their rifle parts by soaking them in Coke...! It sure made short work of the carbon build up :)

    Anyway, back to the Macross
