  1. So that's what they are! Wow, very cool Gundam. It's a Strike Freedom, right?
  2. Thanks! I'll go check out that newbie thread, sounds like what I'm after! Multi-grips must be an Australian thing. They are a plumber's wrench http://www.htpaa.org.au/oztools-images/wrenches/multi-4.jpg I was trying to work out what the Gundam weapon is and was making a joke about an intergalactic plumber
  3. Not much to say except "Wow!". I really like the added launch arm detail and the decal fading. I must go and read your booster WIP again - it has some great pointers on painting exhausts. Looks like I just found a new desktop wallpaper! Great work, again!
  4. Cool Gundam. What's the thing it's holding? I have NFI about Gundam - it looks like a giant pair of multi-grips Wicked Ace do you have a link to a decent "gundam for dummies" page please? (or should I just go visit wikipedia?) I've only seen two or three episodes and I'm just not sure if it's something I can get into; is it more suited to the younger audience? Thanks!
  5. lol Petar it'll be the icing on your booster cake
  6. Hi mate, welcome to MW. For 1/100 Mac Plus, you are generally looking at resin kits. In the 'for sale' section a few guys are selling resin at the moment, but it doesn't come up terribly often. There is lots of info on the MW homepage: on the left click models, then resin, then poke around there for a while. I've not built the Bandai VF19 but I've read those kits a bit of a dog. Only the ultra keen need apply. Mark
  7. As well as using a thinner piece of tape - if you make a few nicks in one side you'll be able to shape it to the curve a lot easier. In other words, cut across the tape (about half the width) every half inch or so. This way is a nice balance between the ease of a thin piece and the adhesion of a thick piece. The more nicks, the easier it is to curve. Hope that helps.
  8. I found Waldo. He's behind the Dremel book.
  9. Hey it's great to know there are common interests other than Macross! Just this morning I bought a 16yr Bushmills!
  10. Now THAT'S what I'm talking about! Awesome weathering. You really set it off NS. The interior green is a nice touch.
  11. lol, you completely missed my point. I know you don't do toys, and I was pleasantly surprised because they WEREN'T toys It is unusual to see 1/48 Macross model anything, which is why I initially thought it might be a toy thread. Re: scaling Sorry, I didn't mean compared to a real life jet (I have kits here to compare against). I was hoping to see how big the 1/48 kits are sitting on your desk, which is why I was hoping for a pic with a box of matches, a keyboard, or a pen. Thanks all the same! The VF-1 is coming along very well.
  12. And thanks for the pics HWR. I saw 1/48 and immediately thought, "TOYS!..." What a pleasant surprise! I really enjoyed the pics and saved them all. Do you happen to have any images with a scaling item, like a box of matches or a fountain pen? I'm still not quite sure how big these guys are. Thanks again!
  13. Valk009 is selling an original Club-M 1/48 YF-19 at the moment. /plug for Andy
  14. By the way Petar, which colour did you use for the off-white? Or is it a gloss white with a drop of yellow perhaps? It just has a nice 'faded' white feel to it and I'd love to know how you did it.
  15. Petar, I don't know how you managed to pull off a baby blue Valkyrie, but boy you've done it. It will look great next to the VF-4. Excellent work! Based on the pics, I agree the smoke is a little heavy, but the overall finish is tip top. Hey are you planning on a little pastel on the bells or staying with the high gloss?
  16. I thought I'd share a pic for the guys that might not use a pin vise. They are a great tool - easy to find on eBay or through HLJ. I just replaced my dodgy cheapies with Tamiya. It's worth the little bit extra. The pin vise is great with barrels especially: Bandai 1/100 Tomahawk (the holes need a little more clean up, but you get the idea )
  17. OT I tried out my nailgun for the first time today on my kids cubby house. Man, I'm glad I know how to shoot a pistol because those nailguns are dangerous! That said, it was great fun and a heck of a lot faster than the way our grandparents did it I love air tools.
  18. For info, microset ~= white vinegar Works just the same, and a lot cheaper. There's bit of a write-up on ARC for those who are interested.
  19. Hey guys. Ron, your Starfury is looking good - the brass rods are a nice touch. neptunesurvey: way to go! The red hatch came up well! I love the hands - must've been tricky work there. Is that the final matt finish? That club is screaming out for a decal like "THE PUNISHER" or something, lol And what else is on your bench? Looks like a Tiger and some starships...? Five minutes ago I submitted my last assignment for a few weeks, and the mailman delivered a box o' fun from HLJ today, so I'm looking forward to restarting work on my F-14!
  20. Nice work! Thanks very much, I just placed an order with HLJ.
  21. Guys I'm looking for some improved hands for a Bandai VF-1J battroid. This set of hands on HLJ look like what I'm after. Is a 1/100 Gundam comparable in size to a 1/100 battroid? I just don't want to end up with oversized clown hands on the valkyrie... Thanks! Mark
  22. I'm in the middle of two papers for grad school - I know the feeling!
  23. That is so cool, thanks for the link! I've been looking for #2 and was just about to buy a repro from evilBay! Cheers Petar
