Wow. It’s looking great. Getting closer!!!

All done. Had another junky stand laying around from Amazon that worked great for this little build. Bummed on those old messed up decals but not surprised at how chunky they went down. Work with what you got. Hahaha Next up is Volks 1:144 scale KOG. Super excited for this one. 🤩

Best of luck to you. Hope you have a full recovery. ♥️

Thanks! I’m loving the print and it’s a very relaxing project to experiment with transparent layers, pushing and pulling shadows etc… Yeah I’m stuck in vintage model land. I might have a problem. Thanks for sharing the journey you have been on. The end results so far are great! Any updates to share on the USS Cygnus?

Yeah it’s interesting. I want to try other underpainting variations and see how they look.

Hey thanks so much! Yeah the decals broke at the recessed area so I went in with paint to touch it up after. I did however do what you are planning on a similar kit and it worked out way better. I just used the decal as a guide and cut out a couple thin circles of .3mm and glued them down before priming etc… decal went down without disaster 👍 Not sure why I didn’t do it this time. Amnesia I guess. Lol

Almost finished with this little bugger. Besides the absolutely awful disintegrating old decals this Arii 1/100 scale VF-1S looks alright. I think that added parts like the simple sprue scraps drilled out for verniers and that reddish purple undertone came through in an interesting way. I still need to do some tiny paint details but I am ready to move along.

Not this time. I’m just trying some color layering experiments and basing it off of the OG VF-1S yellow/black/white scheme for the most part. More to come soon.

@nightmareB4macross Looks amazing. I like that raised texture a lot. I haven’t seen that part represented that way before. Very cool.

The larger one retails for a lot of $$$$. I keep looking for it but I’m happy for the 100 scake

Oh yeah!!!!! Been looking forward to rhis! Thanks for the heads up. 😊

Wow! This is outstanding! ♥️

Primed and base coated the Arii 1/100 VF-1S . I added a few little details here and there to this simple kit. I didn’t invest too much time into it so far. I just want to have this be a fun/loose experimental build. I went with a red/purple color base color instead of my usual mahogany that I have been enjoying. Not sure how the white top layer is going to like it. Hope it doesn’t give off a “who put a red shirt in the white load of laundry” look. Ya know what I mean? Anyway, soon we will see.

Looking good @Big s !!! I love the colors you chose and can’t wait to see the pilot looking out once you finish it up. 👍

Great idea

I hadn’t considered that at all. Thanks for the heads up.

Primed and first layers of paint going on the Space Jokey print. Once I get the paint and weathering all done I want to add a layer of liquid latex over the pilot like Giger did for the movie prop. Might not work out how I envision but I want to try and see if it adds another layer of transparency and a torn flesh vibe

Yeah it’s unfortunate. I should have come up with a modification to make it movable but I felt like it was out of my wheelhouse. I appreciate the advice on the stand. I just happen to have one of those wire yard sign post things and just need to find a nice base. I’ll see what I can come up with. Would be nice to make a circular one with the UN spacey logo on it. 🤔

😂 wow but seriously it’s looking way better.

Thanks so much! There are two options when building and installing the lower radar. One allows for clearance while on the ground while the other is in a lower position “extended” which dips down below the level of the wheels. I prefer the later version with it extended so I need to get it off the ground.

I’m finding the easiest way to align pieces “that will never align” on these old kits is to simply just lay down some .3mm on top and move on. Been thinking ahead about color on this. I always see the VF-1S in a bright white and I may stick with that, but what if I do a rich red undercoat and see what happens? A cool blue would make more sense but why play it safe. Hahah We will find out when this puppy gets into the spray booth.

Thanks so much! 👍

Drool! Love it
