  1. @vlenhoff I will take you up on that offer, and my kids will thank you. You ever find it just message me.
  2. heh, my 2-year old was swooshing it around when the nosecone popped off, then the whole thing slipped out of his hand and it took a hard dive onto concrete. Broken tailfins. Nosecone is lost to time and space. But now, to do a paint job and have a "complete" custom from that 1A, I would have just needed: the shoulder filler piece - which I now have a spare some missiles - got those too super pack if I want it - I've got two of the Hi-Metal parts sets and if I was going to paint it, a white heat shield (easier to paint over white than red) - now I have one of those. Plus I've got all the other spare pieces (gun, canopy, hands, wings, landing gear) And happy ending for everyone: my 2-year old now has his own Toynami VF-1, which I've put through several rounds of the kraggle since I gave it to him, and he is happy as a pig in muck to be able to swoosh one of daddy's planes around. (I'm actually considering buying one or two more of them since they're so much less expensive than other VFs, and having a spare or two for his little brother might be a good idea...) (this hobby suuuuuuucks for my paypal account).
  3. @vlenhoffha! I just bought the rest of the VF-1A that armor set came from, then. Going to use it for a custom paint job, and I've got missiles and such from a 1J that broke. worked out well for everyone it seems. Well, except my 1J, but it will live on as background scrap in a display!

@tekering TY! @sh9000 what paints did you use for your mass prod 1j, and your max & milia touch-ups? I've got a 1J here that took an unfortunate fall, broke the tailfins, and I was thinking to just take it apart for a display. But that means I've got a 1J head I could repaint and pop on a 1A.

I'm still kind of awestruck by the existence of the HMR Monster. The sheer size of it, the fact that Bandai actually made it, it's just huge. Imposing in pictures, I assume the same in real life. @tekering looks fantastic! Is that a custom HMR Mass-Production VF-1J, or one of Wave's 1/100 kits? Does anyone know if there are Tamiya paint colors that match the red/blue on HMR Max and Milia? I have some model kits I wanted to paint to put alongside mine and thought it might be nice if I could color match (or at least get pretty close).
  6. Put that J35F right next to an SV-262 and you've got yourself a nice pairing to complement an F-14 and a VF-1. (although I guess, that would mean we need a hi-metal SV262, or at least Wave or someone to make a 1/100 kit).

I know Macross II isn't hugely popular but I've always had a soft spot for the 2SS design - it on the cover of Palladium's Macross II RPG is one of the things that got me hooked on giant anime robots. I know the mecha in Macross II were mostly "extreme 90s" updates of the mecha in SDFM (the 2JA being a "more angles" VF-1J, the destroids being all "more guns" of their predecessors), but the 2SS always seemed shiny and new. Seeing it side by side with the VF-4 though I'm wondering if it inspired by that design, considering how little of it had been seen by the 10th anniversary. The story behind the designs even says both were built to emphasize combat and maneuvering in space vs. in an atmosphere. I can't imagine Bandai would ever do it (barely seen, not a "hero" mecha) but it would be neat to see them do the 2JA from MII as well.
  8. @HardlyNever very nice! I like that they're not overcrowded. Been culling my displays to eventually get to a similar setup. @valhary I like how these are paired up! On the bottom shelf, what's the 19 with blue on the right? And it looks like you have a VF-9 in there? Is that a custom?
  9. great trades recently with @spacemanoeuvres, @Zx31, @yellowlightman and special shout out to @DewPoint we were able to swap Super VF-1A leg armors and have complete Valks now.

Was browsing M2 for some reason or other and hey, since we're talking about it, I didn't realize that the 1EX color scheme is a fairly close match to the 1J from Macross the First: http://www.macross2.net/m3/sdfmacross/variant-vf-1j-mtf.htm Neat!

I dig the livery pattern on the VF-1EX. Would love to see them do it, although it's probably have to be a TWE exclusive. Can't imagine there being enough interest in them for a wider release. I'd like to see them finish out the Destroids and bring the Noojadoo and Quadlanoo suits along, but if they space them out and it means they bring other figs like the VF-2SS and VF-4 that would be cool. VF-2JA, VF-11, VF-17, VF-19, VF-22... a whole variety of HMR VF-25s and 31s... Sound Force exclusive retools... Ugh, the hurt that would put on my wallet.

@vlenhoffMandarake has Millia's VF-1J for Y12,000 right now. Pretty good price IMO.

So fast! Thank you @DewPoint he had a pair of left connectors, so now we're both going to be complete.
  14. My first HMR - my first VF of any sort in a long while - and I got two right-side connector pieces for the legs. Did you get the opposite? We can swap and complete each other's set!

Hi all. New member here. Over at another forum it was suggested that I ask all of you about this. I just bought my first HMR Valk, a Super VF-1A (Hikaru DYRL). Really liking the figure but the piece on the leg armor that attaches to the back of the leg, I got two right ones. I hear this might be a fairly common issue and I'm wondering if anyone has two left ones and wants to swap parts to fix it up.
