V2 with fastpacks is listed at $200, and $140 for w/o packs.

That's a bit rich for my blood. Kinda wish they'd drop the LED gimmicks and the price.

I'll keep an eye out in case it ever goes on sale, I suppose.

Exactly. Not even worth it in my opinion for that price. Not when many of us are getting DXs at MSRP. It’s a shame because I would prefer to purchase this scale and leave the 1/48 for special displays. I actually like the 1/72 better than the 1/60 scale. I do like the price better than Arcadia’s PF but the quality sucks compared to them so again not worth it.

The current price and availability of Roy compared to previous releases is raising some questions for me. Did they make more this time? Is he not as popular? Is it because this is a TV variant instead of DYRL? Will Bandai make less next time? Where I've landed at the moment is that this kinda feels "just about right" with respect to Bandai, where if you missed out during PO Madness you can still easily get one after release on the secondary market at a price that isn't completely ridiculous. I'd love to have the kind of availability and pricing we used to get with Yamato (insert the usual commentary about their poor business decisions here), but since that's not going to happen, maybe this is the new normal now that Bandai has several DX releases under their belt. Perhaps they're relatively dialed in to market demand and we don't have to stress so much during PO Madness. Unless you're an adrenaline junkie like @DYRL VF-1S and you live for the thrill of the hunt. :p

Honestly, I hope for us all that PO madness subsides a bit. (But yes, I LOVE the thrill :spiteful:)

    Just a thought here...

We all know for sure that bandai will release the DX Roy DYRL Version some day. (based on the black skull emblem included in the SSP set)
For some of you who bought more than 1 DX TV Roy recently, will you consider getting another DX Movie Roy? There may be some differences here and there on the tampo print and I'm not surprise that they will do something to the head sculpt. But will you pay full price or go through another po madness for these differences, assuming if you already have more than 1 tv Roy? One to display as tv ver and another in movie ver, regardless canon or not.

100%. Absolutely be getting DYRL Roy if I'm able. I actually love PO madness. Total adrenaline rush, and I've been fortunate enough to score for every single one post 1J release (and Hikkie DYRL I scored an extra MSRP on release day). Now, when my luck runs out, I might feel differently.

  4. Have you all tried the recommendation I made awhile ago?

    1. I would copy your ticket number after 48 hours has passed.
    2. Go to the online chat. There's a place for you to input your ticket number.
    3. Start a chat.
    4. When the rep attends to you, simply tell them your ticket has not been addressed in over 48 hours and you would like them to escalate it for you

They internally escalate it and usually a response is given on your ticket the same day. Now, whether you get the response you need or want is another story altogether. But that's how I successfully got my damn store credit issued finally.

    You mean it's not vaporware?

In all seriousness I'm kind of interested.  I dig that it's actually a mini PC and not some Raspberry Pi thing, but I'm waiting for reviews on Atari OS, the default games, whatever game store they decide to use, if it's easy to mod and expand the storage, etc before I drop $400 on it.

So far, I’m not super impressed, but I’m an early adopter so hiccups are to be expected. I mean, you can just load RetroPie on a Pi etc. if you really want Atari games. The games they are adding could be cool but nothing super yet. I’m having a heck of a time getting a gaming OS of any kind to load in their PC mode.

Yes I did. The one with the wood grain finish front for nostalgia's sake.

I've got so many games and consoles already I haven't opened it yet.

Cool. See above. Will be curious your thoughts when you set up.

In my case I got a card w/o currency conversion fees years ago, so I do all my Yen buying with it. 3% savings adds up over a while. Especially when buying things that are like ¥25,000-¥30,000 shipped.

I generally use PayPal with my card (when only PayPal is accepted) and pass the currency conversion over to my card instead of PayPal.

Was the red heat shield offered for the strike valkyrie the same shield that came with the 1A toy? How did one get that heat shield? Anyone got an extra? :)

Yes, exactly the same. It was through mail-in. Here’s are pics of that mail-in. Credit goes to @nightmareB4macross and @jvmacross during my search for info. My avatar displays it.

Kurama just shipped my TV Supers

Ditto and yeah it shipped from HK so makes total sense what the delay was. I’ll keep that in mind for the future.

When Bandai pivots back to DYRL a 1A is what they'll probably do. The mold is there ready for a new coat of paint.... although I dare to dream of a tv angelbird.

My money is on a DYRL VF-1A Max

Most likely it’ll be DYRL if they stick to the pattern of two TV then two DYRL. Also they’ve been doing one regular and then one TWE release.

I also think it’ll be Max 1A regular and then Hikaru 1A TWE with Strike or possibly just his skulls to place in separate Strike.

Thank you for doing this. More pictures are greatly appreciated.

Absolutely. Let me know what you need. I don’t mind at all. Especially helpful to confirm details since we know it was sealed when I received it.

Thanks for bringing up the Jetfire armor releases. So those releases had to have the smooth box I suppose?

Were those Taiwan knock-off VF-1S toys that only have half the strike Valkyrie box more official products sold without armor or are those really knock-offs?

I have a complete Jetfire with box in NM if you need any pics. Though I’m sure the other guys do here as well.

    Post pictures, kind sir.

This is the box that was sealed. (I took a video of opening it to capture the moment lol.) You can see the Bandai and texture. I have another one that is NM that is also textured. I don’t believe Takatoku ever released these, right? Only promotional ads before Bandai took over.

Curiously, my strike VF-1S has a textured box, appears to be new/unused, but has the Bandai stamp, no stickers. I wonder if there weren't multiple runs of the strike VF-1S with only the final run dropping the textured box. Of course, there's always the possibility someone in the 30+ years of the toy switched the boxes. You can see the texture and the Bandai stamp in these pics.

It could be that there were excess boxes made with the Takatoku texture. There seems to be overflow of odds and ends.

Mine is textured too and was sealed when I bought it.

Kurama is based in Hong Kong. My assumption is any TWEs get shipped from Japan to HK first before going out to the buyers.
