So, i just opened my second DX VF-1J (to inspect it before a sale) that's been sitting in its box since i ordered it from NY way back in June....

The first thing i noticed was that the 2x Antenna were not where they are supposed to be in the clamshell, they were both loose and one was stuck in one of the wing openings, but ok, shipping and all that.

Then i took the VF out of the clamshell and noticed a big gap between the intake and the main body, like it was improperly transformed before it was put in the clamshell (it was not like it had popped out by itself in shipping since you had to lift the legs from the body and re-attach them to fix the gap)

I then proceeded to inspect it further and when i undid the feet from the body i noticed that the clasp on the swingbar was really really weak, like it takes nothing to undo it (it's not like that on my display VF-1J, i mean its weak but this one holds nothing.)

And one off the hip joints is totally loose. Like no resistance at all. I inspected the screws that hold the hip joint cover very closely and they look a little bit worn on the top, like someone had messed with them with a screwdriver that's a hair bit to big.

And to top it off, one of the panel lines on the "back" near where the booster pack folds onto it is raised up by nearly a millimeter when in fighter mode.

So. Do i have a previously returned-item lemon on my hands? Or maybe manufacturing faults? Anybody else had these issues?

Do i have grounds to return it to NY for a replacement or should i just display it in fighter mode and cut my losses?
Obviously not going to sell it unless the buyer is willing to accept these faults.

I know it’s hard to hear but the truth is worth it. This is the signature of a QC reject that made it into the approved section in error.  What you described is what I have experienced in two other releases with Bandai, A YF-19 and a YF-29 Alto.

  2. I think we need to consider that in Japan, the DX Hikaru VF-1S would have been an earth shaking release.  We will all get our orders but I’m betting this thing is causing third degree burns when people pick it up off the shelf in Japan.

:o 2/10/20??? Have you had some experience in the past when NY took months to ship a pre-orders? I paid for the preorder in advance way more that what scalpers are charging now. but I checked NY and they have a no cancelling pre-orders rule

I have seen NY be a few weeks late after release, I’m not worried.  They have always cane through and I have bought every Bandai  macross release except the 31’s from NY starting with the first YF-29.

    Oops!

We'll see if the japanese-fans will be extra sensitive enough to complain about it to get Bandai to fix/replace it like they did with the original Alto YF-29...

The YF-29 shoulders just popped off, the vertical stabilizer would be hard to change

For awhile, I limited myself just to Hallmark keepsakes (have a huge crate of those now- mostly Star Trek and Star Wars, but also a space shuttle and Apollo capsule). I added a few non-Hallmark ornaments when I found the Dr Who ones (including the weeping angel treetopper- before that, I put Princess Leia at the top). Hallmark released a Firefly Serenity so that had to go up as well. I usually will pull out an old boardgame board to put under the tree (last year was Avalon HIll's Dune board, year before that was the old Star Wars Hoth game).

Now that I'm grabbing HMRs, though, I might have to pop some on. The tough thing is finding space on the tree, since I end up doubling up on some branches now.

This is deserving of many more responses.

    Awesome.

  6. The House Intelligence Committee just questioned the Ukraine ambassador on if he has knowledge regarding the release date of Roy’s VF-1S.

The ambassador responded that he doesn’t know because he only collects HMR.

  7. I think Bandai will just include the “11” skull circles in the Hikaru 1A.  A bundle with full super pack would be great, but I think with them selling the super packs separate, Bandai will just include the circles.

Sorry if this is more of a N-Y question than a 1/48 DX VF-1 question, but I know I'm not going to be at the address where my VF-1S and the duplicate order are being sent. Assuming N-Y never responds to my ticket about changing the address, has anyone had any luck re-routing an EMS package? Would a temporary change of address accomplish this?

EMS comes from usps, so if you do a forwarded address at your post office, usps will deliver it to your new address

Oh buddy you're in trouble!! I didn't think I was going to be that into the HMR's, I was WRONG! I love these little fellas. You're going to end up with all of them.:p

    You are screwed.

  10. I do not remember any DX exclusive accessory item ever being reissued for Macross.

With the way we have seen the super strike parts and now missiles reissued, it makes me wonder if this line was being studied for continuation vs the line of releases set up to go.  How close were we to not getting other releases if they had not blown off the shelves?

You have to admit, with not 1 but 2 accessories being reissued, it’s pretty significant.  What that significance means is up for debate.

@sh9000 the filter makes it look cartoony, like the intro pose.  Nice

@Lolicon nice panel line work, breaks up the white on top.  If Max's cartoon ride had a V like Hikaru's chest V it would look less bland.  Was the V only for the 1j rides?

    The 1-S had it also

You'll have to use the DX adapter designed for the Sv-262 because the 1/48 DX stand connector has an extra large base like the Sv-262's. Even then the fit isn't perfect, but it works.

Thank you for responding, I just bought the banking and standing adaptor for the 262.

Again, thank you for helping me.

I love the idea of super cheap super parts without detail and the option for more expensive fast packs with it... but expensive fast packs without it? That's shabby.

    Agree completely.

  14. 2 Questions for the team here:

Does the new Yamato stand have the capability of holding the DX VF-1?

Does Yeti Stand make a an adapter for the DX-VF-1?  The site in yeti says the DX adaptors are for frontier and doesn’t mention the 1:48 DX VF-1.
