  1. Having owned all the original MASK toys back in the day, it’s great to see this line get revived. I went back and watched the first episode again last night. Such a cool show, especially for its time. I think if there’s one piece to have, it’s Thunderhawk - the “hero valk” of MASK. And this new design looks fantastic.

Go full Highlander, lop off their heads, and store ‘em in the Grogu port or under the astromech droid.

Yeah, just forget the whole “bring them in warm” part and go straight to “cold.”

Seriously though, I wonder if he’s even going to be doing much bounty hunting for a while, since his life was opened up to such larger causes in season 2. He’s got to reinstate himself with the clan, for one.

Really hope they overproduce this one, because I could use.. oh, about ten sets of the super packs.  Would really prefer they just release them separately, but I've pretty much given up hope of ever getting a decent supply of the packs for the rest of my HMRs.

What about just tracking down the original Hi Metal super packs from several years ago? That's what I ended up doing, and there's a bunch on Mandarake right now. The arm armor is not TV accurate, but the color is good.

  4. Really glad to see this finally happening, even if I already customized one from other Hi-Metal parts. As others have said, this will make a good supply for those who want TV-styled super parts & missiles, not to mention side covers. I'm in for at least 2.

I do wonder how the color on the super parts will compare to what was released 10 years ago in Hi-Metal. Hope it's the same to match with my sizeable stash of older parts.

  5. That VF-0S artwork looks sweet.

On the topic of the Tomahawk, count me among those who don't really care what color it is, as long as gets made. The blue one that @sh9000 posted reminded me of this:

  6. This might have been mentioned already, but for VF-0, I wonder if Bandai is going for true 1/100 scale, while the VF-1 is known to be 1/90-ish?

Nice to see the mention of the VF-1S with its improvements, as well as the Tomahawk. It would be even nicer if they would give us a preorder.

  7. I'm likewise glad to see that Macross HM-R is still alive. I'll probably grab a VF-0, though I'm really wanting those remaining SDFM destroids.

I don't remember Bandai re-released Roy's VF-1S Strike Valkyrie. What I remember was that it got released with 2 versions. One with and without the special Tamashii stand. Bandai also hasn't released yet a Roy VF-1S TV version. But we did get a glimpse of a Hikaru VF-1S TV version with Super Packs during the last event.

Roy’s Strike VF-1S was shown at an event last year along with a Scout Regult, and I think people suspected it might be getting a re-release at some point.

At this point, I’d rather get the TV version, even though I already put together customs from the original Hi Metal.

Whatever gets them released at this point it fine by me, although I would prefer a solo Tomahawk release just for that sweet box art.

My thoughts exactly. I wonder what Tenjin would do differently from the below?

  10. Original language with subs is totally cool with me. Part of the character of the show is the sound of the original actor's voices. With other shows, I prefer to listen to the Japanese and have gotten used to reading subs. I don't think I've ever heard a dub that sounds as good and convincing as the original in terms of acting. And that's dialog only.  While Mari Ijima and some of the Walkure girls pulled it off, voice actors are often not singers, so that's additional talent you have to hire. I wouldn't want the release of these shows to become held back by obstacles of cost or time.

Other than the one shot, what is not kid friendly in your opinion?

The guys above pretty much covered it. My son’s a tween, for the record, so not a little kid any more but not sure he’s ready for one of the darker, heavier chapters of Macross, especially when he hasn’t even seen the original yet. He’s also not real fond of reading subs.

  12. Gaiares is one of those games that’s simply above my skill level, especially now that my reaction times are probably not as good as they were 30 years ago.

@mikeszekely Interesting thoughts on the Metroid series. I don’t fully agree (Super still ranks top tier for me; and Fusion is a very well executed game despite the linearity) but always interesting to read other perspectives. I still need to play Dread (now that my son is done with it) but was trying to finish Samus Returns first. You may want to give the original two a play through and see what you think. Have you ever played Prime?

I don't remember any HMR POs being that bad, certainly nowhere near the level of the Roy 1S DX. At any rate, the fact that we may actually - finally - get some more of these makes me not really care how crazy PO might be.

  14. Haven't posted here in quite a while, but have to say that I am thrilled to see that Macross HMR is not forgotten and seems to have great things ahead. VF-0 seems a given, VF-1S and Tomahawk seem likely... all fantastic additions to the lineup. Looking forward to PO time!
