Sold off most of my HMR collection a few years ago, thinking about picking up one or two pieces to add to the desk while I'm still working from home.

    -b.

HMR is great for the desk! Mine have been keeping me company through the last several months at home. Recently decided to set up a Hikaru shelf.

  2. So sad. There are still so many untapped opportunities. Maybe Bandai will come back to it one day.

Hi, where can I find replacement for vf-1 hi metal nosecone? I happen to lost one.

You could post in the Wanted section. You may need to buy a donor valk. Also note that the color is a little different depending on which one you're trying to replace.

Meh, just said screw it and went for it. Good to just get it out of the way and not have to think about it. Especially if it will double in price later on down the line.

    Pretty much my thoughts.

Would have been nice to grab one at HLJ. Looks like they are showing "discontinued" now.

  4. Just snagged a Roy off of Amazon. I figure that may be about the best option for now. Looks like Buyee was going to run a little higher with handling fees, etc.

I will probably pass on the 1D, but it's really cool to see Bandai making it.

  5. Looking for an original Hi-Metal (not HMR) 1/100 VF-1J Hikaru.

I'm not very particular on condition, though would prefer to avoid yellowing as much as possible. Loose (without packaging) is OK. PM me with what you've got and how much.

  6. Yep, so much Macross potential remaining in this line. Bandai seems to be putting all their Macross focus into DX these days. This has been a bit of a tight year for me financially, so I'm glad for the break in that sense, but would really like to get my hands on some new HM-R!

It's a 90's thing... I was only a kid back then, so to me it's rather nostalgic.

That said, the flight demonstration team colors on combat aircraft thing is never going away because Macross has to sell toys and that makes them very action figure-ous.

I was in my 20s when 7 was released, and would agree that yes, it does fit with that early '90s visual style. I think it's safe to say that every Macross series is to some extent a product of its times, and the trends of some decades age better than others. I just finished another watch-through of 7, and while the animation looks good (albeit frequently repetitive) I don't think the colorful style has aged as well as some other series like SDFM and Zero.

The other thing I noticed about 7's animation is that they didn't do such a great job of making Fire Bomber look realistic while in concert. As a musician myself, I notice this sort of thing, and can usually tell if an actor is really playing or not. As much as I've heard that Kawamori and crew go to great lengths to research accurate fighter pilot moves, you'd think they would have done the same with a series that relied so heavily on its music.

Still waiting on the SDFM SP for 1A and the launch arm.  But if only we would have gotten the Max and Milia in THOSE COLORS, instead of the pastel blue and pink we actually got.

Get yourself a few sets of the Hi Metal VF-1 super parts from about 10 years ago, and you’re covered, assuming you don’t mind that the arm parts are movie style. I’m pretty sure that’s what they used in that photo.

I am hoping for (in this order): Q-Rau armor, Battlepod Scout, Tomahawk, Monster.

All those would great to see. But you know they already did the Monster, right?

  10. I don’t own a Messer, but believe the white plastic is unique to that version. Other HMR VF-1S head lasers are gray. The original Hi Metal 1S is closer, but still off white, and also sculpted differently.

If Bandai had decided to give us a true TV version VF-1S in HMR, that white color would have been perfect.

  11. From what I’ve seen, the original Hi Metal TV Hikaru 1J was much more likely to yellow than the DYRL 1S and 1A versions, with its really bright white plastic.

While I agree that nin-nin is crap, I wish some of these reviews would stick with the facts, which should be enough. When they start making accusations with no proof, it just makes their review less credible...ironically since they are also calling out other reviews.

Agreed. Whenever a review starts with anything resembling “DO NOT BUY THIS” they lose me. I understand people’s need to vent, but I don’t need to be the recipient.

  13. Glad that some of you were able to get a Roy PO in at HLJ. I missed out on this round. That said, seeing it pop back up on HLJ was how I got my Hikaru VF-1J, so I'd be confident they will fulfill the order. Hopefully I'll be able to secure a Roy eventually.

Oh eff that. Jumping straight to selling at an inflated price.

Yeah, that’s too steep for me at this point.

Sorry to hear about your health situation. Hope things continue to improve.

Absolutely this.  I don't think I will be getting a TV Hikaru 1S when/if it gets made.

For me it's already 99% accurate if I use the TV Hikaru in Roy's TV 1S with the super parts, and red tipped reaction missiles.

While I’d be all about a proper TV Super VF-1S bundle, it’s very possible that I’ll have all the pieces in place already by the time Bandai gets around to it. Pilot from the 1J (or a possible 3D print) and super parts now on pre-order. All I need now is the valk itself, which may open up at some point later in the year.

I would hope we get a websclusive Super VF-1S Hikaru combo set.......I would prefer to "assume the position" than go through another round of hell

BTW....Will this be the first ever "proper" PT toy of a TV Super VF-1S Hikaru set released by a Japanese company?

Yamato did this combo in 1/60 v2.
