I don't really want it but that doesn't mean I won't buy one if it's made. and yeah, no way I'd give up my HMR. It's one of if not the best line in toys to me right now and saying I'm not as impressed with the VF-2 is just that the bar is so high and I'm extremely impressed with so many of the other releases.

Yeah, I had two in my cart when they first went up at NY with the lower price and then backed out. Regret but will see if it's easy to get at around the same price again after the lottery.

Pretty much sums it up! I removed the tiny hands and will probably never use them again...better off just removing whatever larger hand I'm using completely if I'm transforming to Fighter mode. Looks great as part of the HMR collection and I definitely don't fault them or anyone else for the design that just hasn't worked in 3D toy form. This tells me that I most likely will not want a DX 1/60 version just because it will be more expensive and not much room to improve significantly.

Messed around with my VF-2SS late last night and I'm not all that impressed...It's my only VF-2 toy and I know it's a difficult design to realize in 3d form but just it's not polished enough to me. Mainly, I don't like how most of it is just floating together in all three modes. I'm surprised to see some people conider this a better toy than the VF-1...the increased metal joints are a nice touch but it also seems like the toy would crumble without them so they were pretty much a must. Still, happy to add it to my collection but I'm not looking forward to a whole squad of every variant.

Haha, get right to the important stuff! Bottom line is, even if this doesn't look better, if it has other improvements or even just differences, it will be enough for many Macross addicts including myself to bite.

Man, the Yamato is tough to beat! There are a few minor improvements on the Bandai but it also looks squatter up top, looks pretty badass but not as heroic proportioned as the Yammie.

Yeah, I really don't ever care if colors match on war machines. I especially don't care about matching colors to a bunch of online images of items with different lighting and calibrations. Does the toy look good? That's all that matters to me.

Just ocd regarding what parts are part of what set mainly...And the issue you mention would top it off if so. The stupid thing is I will probably never use the two seat configuration anyways. Collection quirks.

It's fine to think that but whatever the case, the figure shown looks bigger than 1/60 based on the stand and the 19 next to it.

I'm not expecting anyone to be able to make a wildly better looking VF-1 at this point. The 1/48, old 1/55, 1/60, 1/100 HMR and even a few others in between all look good with different strengths to me. My main interest is in new tech and engineering for my favorite transforming design of all time. It would be cool if this one has new transformation aspects, more solid feel and perhaps some more strategic use of metal parts.

It seemed like they would let me order multiples when I checked out. I added 2 to the cart but then backed out because I just paid for a ton of other things and Christmas stuff recently. I'm just glad I got one painlessly like I had hoped for.

Yep! Now I will never need to open my regular one and probably get rid of it at some point. Look forward to finally open a 31J and get it armored up for display.
