  1. In hind sight, although the giant gun was part of the intimidation factor, I wish that the VF-27 had a VF-25 or YF-29 sized gun for practicality in toy form, anyway……

    Arcadia with competitve pricing?

Yeah, a first release 1/60 scale VF-0D goes for 50000 yen used, where as most DX Chogokin from Bandai are 22000-30000 yen.

I know/realize that Arcadia is smaller and therefore doesn’t have the profit margin to make things lower priced, but one could hope that if Arcadia can sell outside of Japan, more production numbers might mean more profits for them.  I can dream…..

I guess we will find out

God, I wish the regular Hi-Metal R VF-0 toys came with a fraction of the stickers I see that this custom has added.  I guess maybe I can hope that Arcadia will re-release the 1/60 scale VF-0's with WWM and competitive pricing too!

If the Disney streaming license was to somehow delay/cancel the Blu-ray release plans, we'd likely have heard about it by now via AnimEigo's Macross II: Lovers Again Kickstarter... as AnimEigo would have to either notify backers of the delay or issue refunds in the event of a cancellation.

God, I hope that cancellation does not occur! I’m really looking forward to all releases!

  5. At 1/28 scale, I am wondering how much a beast like that will retail for.  Considering that most of Toynami's releases are at the higher end of price, I am wincing at what will be the MSRP.  I am looking forward to this though, as I have loved the design of the Legioss for quite some time and wish I had the disposable income to afford one of the Sentinel offerings.

To me the differences boil down to:

Metal Build: stylized designs from mostly non UC suits

Metal Composite: designs of mostly UC suits true to the designs of Katoki Hajime

Chogokin: adapted Gunpla designs (from what I can tell) made into action figures

Other than that, they all are roughly 1/100 scale, have die cast, paint and plastic (though distribution and amount will vary), come with display stands and lots of accessories.

From my experience with owning Metal Build and Metal Composite figures and seeing reviews of the Chogokin line, the MB/MC ones are of higher quality compared to the Chogokin line, especially when it comes to the sharpness of the molding.

However, the quality of the Metal Composite line drastically improved with the Gundam Wing releases (I think it was even branded as Metal Composite x Metal Build in the beginning).

I think you made the right choice in going with the Strike Gundam. While I am not a fan of the design I think it is the best made Metal Build release so far (though the Hi Nu is pretty great too).

I think that I might be getting too old to build Gundams…..I just completed my kit if the 1/100 Full Mechanics Gundam Aerial, and the first thing I noticed is that my damn hands shake, and despite glasses, those little parts are almost too small to see.  I have given up on stickers/decals and leave that to my 15 year old son………sucks getting old!
When I got this Metal Build Strike Gundam, it was perfect! Didn’t really have to assemble it! Toughest thing was assembling the Launcher Striker accessory set and posing the big gun with the Strike Gundam holding it!  The Metal Builds I am seeing are around the same price as a Macross jet, so not too crazy!

Here's mostly the replies from Page 233. Hope it helps. :good:

The reason I asked was that when I was in the Tamashii Nations Store in Times Square, I was debating between the Chogokin Gundam Aerial or the Metal Build Strike Gundam Heliopolis Rollout Version store exclusive. I really like the look of both figures, but went with the strike Gundam due to being the store exclusive.  I have Always wanted the Gundam Fix Figuration Metal Composite Zeta Plus Gundam, but didn’t want to pay the ridiculous price for an aged, used toy.  I Love to build Gunpla, but I got the Metal Robot Spirits Wing Gundam Zero last year and it was an amazing figure, though a bit small and really got me interested in the other Gundam offerings.  Thanks for explaining!

  8. I am looking forward to this and the DX Chogokin VF-19 Kai Fire Valkyrie.  I am still on the fence about a VF-11 with speaker boobs for Mylene custom, but might be my only chance to get a transforming VF-11, unless Bandai decides to give it the DX treatment.

  9. So, I am pretty new to the whole non-Gunpla side of Gundam.  I have a Metal Robot Spirits Wing Gundam Zero and I love it, though it is a bit small......I recently got a Metal Build Strike Gundam Tamashii Store exclusive Heliopolis rollout release and I have to say that I am very impressed with the detail and heft of the Metal Build Strike Gundam.  I am a little frustrated with the Launcher accessory add on kit that I bought along with it, the shoulder piece falls off way too easily and the big gun on the arm is unwieldy as all get out to try to manipulate and make it look good.

My Question is, is there a Metal Build Zeta Gundam or Zeta Plus Gundam?  I know of the Gundam Fix Figuration Metal Composite Zeta Plus set, but I do not think it is the same as a metal build.....What would people recommend?

    Thanks!

  10. Finally got home from vacation and got to open my acquisitions. The VF-171EX Armored was stressful moving the legs to get the armor on, I was so worried the legs would snap off it I moved it wrong! Love the new YF-19! I don’t need the missiles or fast packs, but that is my preference, I already have the VF-19 Advance. The Tiny Sessions VF-25F Tamashii Store exclusive is my first Tiny Session toy, and I think it is really nice, though  I will have to play around with it more to see if it is $50 nice.

  11. I have mine waiting at home for me when I return from vacation….will have a Bandai DX Chogokin YF-19 that I acquired from Tamashii Nations Store in New York City to go along with it. I know that the YF-19 is similar to the VF-19Advance, as far as the toy goes, but I am just excited to have both, since I never owned a VF-17/VF-171 before now and I’m looking forward to matching these up with the YF-21 I have pre-ordered from BBTS.
