  1. I'm done with Helo, too. He's obviously dead meat, the Galactica is long gone. Kill him off and be done with it.

    OR

The Pegasus comes in and kicks major ass, rescues his sorry self, and roars off towards the Galatica.

Only if Dirk Benedict plays commander Kane. :p

  2. In the case of DYRL it was the song (DYRL) itself that was what awakened the emotions of the protoculture "descendants". Even Bodolza said right before he fired against the Meltrandi and the Macross, "with the song incomplete, the Meltran's surrender will be impossible...annihilate them both!"

With SDF, it was any of those songs that Minmay sang. But the fact was it could have been Britney Spears or any pop star icon as Nightbat said (again only considering SDF). Minmay won the Miss Macross contest and was pretty much the only star of the ship. Her songs was practically the only thing that played on the MBS and the second biggest star on the ship was an actress who obviously was no where near endearing as Minmay. But it was the people on the Macross that chose Minmay, not the Zentrans. The Zentrans were just picking up what ever signals they could while trying to spy on what they thought was a military channel well they thought every channel was military.)

So as far as Nightbat's argument as a waste of time, I have to disagree. He pretty much has it on the money whether or not Britney or any of these plastic pop artists could have taken Minmay's place.

Was it just the song though? Could it be that the human's connection to the protoculture guided them to choose Minmay "the ultimate pop star" as the vessel to deliver "the ultimate pop song"?

  3. Maybe it's just me, but I will not buy another Voyager DVD. I bought the original SBY movie, and haven't been able to watch it all the way through. Either my players won't read it, or they'll play it about halfway through and then begin to break up.

have you tried checking your DVD player manufacturer's website to see if they have a firmware upgrade? My player didn't like certain disks until I upgraded it.

  4. Actually, how many Vipers and pilots do they have left by now? I remember early on in the series(?) they gave a number and it was pretty small. So is there like 20 or 40 left to defend the whole fleet? Attrition is gonna be a problem since as far as I can figure, the Vipers, old and new ones, are irreplaceable. Heck, pilots are a dime a dozen compared to the Vipers, where are they gonna get replacements?

And have they given a number on how many Mk. 7's they have? You see only a glimpse of them now and then. Since a few survived, you'd think Apollo and or Starbuck would be flying in them.(Apollo in particular, he seemed to be pissed about having to fly the Mk.2)

That's one thing I'd like to see, a few cool background pilots, that don't get killed off so easily. Like Max and Kakizaki or Wedge and Biggs.

If you go to the official site and click on ships>viper>CAG roster it'll tell you they have 12 vipers on duty, 23 down for repair, 31 active pilots, and 5 trainees as of episode 110(the most recent). I guess the keep a running tally which is pertty durn cool.

  5. I'm meeting my brother in Copenhagen, Denmark next month and were going to fart around Northern Europe for a couple of weeks before heading to Bamburg, Germany where he's stationed for a couple more. Aside from Kronborg Castle and the Tower of London we have nothing planned out at all. Does anyone have any suggestions of cool places to go, things to see/do?

And please don't say Amsterdam. I've already been there and done that.

  6. That was a good episode despite the fact I missed the first 30 minutes.  But 1 thing did get to me...it was during the final fight as Strike 1 group was down on the hard deck.  The Asian guy is trying I suppose but a bullet shot thru his cockpit and yet....he didn't actually go pop.  You'd think his helmet would atleast go SPLAT in red due to the fact that an opened wound or what not in space would cause your blood to boil and explode....yet there he is, grabbing his chest and finally just dying there after saying a line......he should have litterally gone POP! Then the girl next to him just combusts....I felt sorry for some of those guys they had REALLY flashy deaths but damn that still sucked none the less.

I think its the extreme temperatures in space that causes blood to boil. this is all speculation of course but it seems to me if the cockpit were pressurized the air would escape through the bullet hole in the canopy and since his space suit is assumably temperature regulated it would happen just like it was shown.

  7. That's Kim, btw. She's saying "otsukaresamadeshita". I can't quite figure out what exactly the phrase means. This is what happens when one doesn't own a book on Japanese grammar! :(

    Google is your friend.;)http://www.city.yokohama.jp/me/naka/conten...n/lesson-3.html

"Otsukaresama" is used to acknowledge someone's efforts or show your appreciation for the trouble that they have gone through. "Tsukare" () means tiredness or fatigue. For example, you can say "otsukaresama" to a colleague who has just returned from an important meeting.

For your superiors, add "desu" () at the end to make it more polite: "otsukaresamadesu" (). You may also use the past tense, "otsukaresamadeshita"

  8. The Princess Bride: the lesson to be learned from this film is that a small budget can go a long way if you have a good script - and The Princess Bride probably has one of the most quotable scripts around.

    Inconceivable!

I do not think that means what you think it means. :p

Another wierd but cool movie is Donnie Darko. Freaked! is also an awesome movie but it's only available on R2 DVD. :(

  9. Huh...If you look at http://www.mahq.net/mecha/macross/macross.htm , they have lots of pics of the original Valks in mech and fighter mode. What I don't get is that the cockpit (especially apparent in the VF-1D) in battroid mode is more then half the size in fighter mode. Where does it go?

Please tell me I'm making *some* sense...

watch the animation in this thread and maybe you'll understand my previous post.
